How to fast-track your gym gains!
มุมมอง 12ปีที่แล้ว
@trainwithtimothy this video is about using one of two systems to fast track your gains in the gym. If you want to get more muscular, get leaner, or “toned“ you should be using one of these two methods. RIR or RPE. Reps in reserve or rating of perceived exertion. These methods allow you to slowly escalate your effort over a block of training so that you steadily make gains. The number one princ...

This video is about the tendency for people to overreach and overtrain when participating in high intensity group fitness workouts. This topic is neither particularly controversial nor is it really in dispute. In fact it's most well known by those who engage regularly in these workouts! Good coaches warn their athletes to curb their enthusiasm and listen to their bodies. So I'm pointing out thi...

The dark side of group fitness
มุมมอง 9ปีที่แล้ว
This video discusses the Darkside of group fitness outlets, such as F45, Orange Theory and CrossFit. These cultures tend to celebrate agony. The group setting in the environment can really reinforce the norms within this culture. Negative compulsive behaviors can arise, which can lead to overuse burnout and injury. None of this is particularly controversial. In fact it’s well-known. This doesn’...

FAT LOSS CHALLENGE

My take on weight loss challenges and so called transformations. Do these things really promote long-term success? Do you really need a specific shake to be successful? What are the real ingredients needed for success? Beware of fitness, influencers, and sales pitches. They are just looking to make a buck and don’t have your best interest at heart.

    3.5 years ago I was pants size 44 , half the muscle , 3.5 year later pants size 38 2.5 x muscle and slight improvement and I said F off after that lol. It’s dodgy and inaccurate and full agree with your video.

    Glad I found this video. Just this last weekend this happened. I was in tears when I left. I truly thought it was going to be one of the best scans. It was one of my worst scans. This is the first time though I’ve seen a change in my body in over 2 years. My clothes are fitting better. My strength is going up. I’m trying to hang onto that but it really messed with me. I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing but I can totally relate feeling like crap after. It ruined my day.

    Had a dexa scan recently and it said 28%. Am 70 yo. 6.2 nd 170 lbs. Measured with a skinfold, it shows no fat in my arms and legs, dexa said 31% Getting to 15% would suggest I need to be 150 lbs. It says that 170 lbs at 28% I would be overweight. Have gone from 217 lbs to 170, pant size from 38 to 32. I can't figure out what deca is seeing. Any ideas?

    Great video! Hey Marlo! I absolutely remember Feminique, I had several family members who loved going there. 😊 I really enjoyed learning more about you guys evolution in the fitness world! I can also relate regarding endurance sports. In the past, my focus was more on long-distance cycling, half marathons, etc. When it got to where I was having to tape my knee more often than not, I knew I needed to pivot a bit. I’m really enjoying the workout plan Tim has put together for me. One of my weaknesses is wanting to do everything, and this has greatly helped me focus. Look forward to ya’ll’s next video 😊

    That kid was being super annoying everytime he was announcing the wrong time. So glad the mom shut him up. The burpees started at 8 seconds into the video but the kid started his timer before the guy even started. Anyways kudos to you doing that many burpees in one go. I can barely do 25.

    want a really good lactic lung burner? do the exact same workout for the same period of time but instead of jumping 6 inches off the ground l jump as high as possible and bring your knees to your chest at peak of jump then procede with exact fasion. and when you jump i mean explode! like you were trying to dunk a b ball. after not 5 minutes but 2 minutes you will be panting so hard

      Sarah Green Actually I think those are 16's.....that's 35# in each hand. She's really strong and could probably do more quite a bit more than that ;-)

      Tim Hamilton that is something. good for her. I do the same exercise with 8kg in each hand - and that's my limit, has been for years. I enjoy it. Keep up the good work, great videos by the way.

    Don´t know about 5 minutes. The only test I ever took was a 3-minute one. 40 years old, 5´10´´, 184 lbs. I did 56 burpees in 3 minutes. And felt it for the next three days... I noticed you were at 47 after 3 minutes but, then again, you KNEW you had two more minutes to go. =) You did a good job, man. Congratulations!

  • @trainwithtimothy
    @trainwithtimothy 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @irontiger....thanks man. Since then I did 83. To clarify for the critics, these are CrossFit burpees. I am purposely NOT doing a strict pushup at the bottom, as this would in fact slow me down and REDUCE my total work output in the 5 minutes. I am not interested in isolating my pecs and doing a strict pushup, thereby sacrificing my horsepower. It's chest to deck and then full hip extension. I'm also not interested in jumping as high as possible. It's all about maximum horsepower.

  • @IronTigerMantis
    @IronTigerMantis 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice work. That was hardcore. It's amazing how many critics are commenting on burpee videos. I have yet to see one of those burpee nazis demonstrate "proper burpees".

  • @Jouwl
    @Jouwl 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @perkoset43 Burpees will be burpees regardless if they are displayed on youtube or not. Yes, his chest touches the ground. 'leaving' the ground is not enough, for very very obvious reasons.

  • @Jouwl
    @Jouwl 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Those aren't burpees. 1) Your pushup form is crap, you elevate your upper body before your hip, thus decreasing load on your arms and chest. 2) You call that a jump? You're barely off the ground damnit. Hatin'. If you call them burpees, do BURPEES, not these, whatever they are. Also, don't feel too bad. Almost all videos on youtube displaying burpees suck at it.
