Boozy Egg Nog Face Off--Which Should You Choose for Your Party?
We used to have to spike our store bought egg nog, but those days are behind us. Today, lots of brands have us taken care of by adding alcohol so we don't have to.
Today I'm tasting eight store bought boozy egg nogs, to see which ones to buy and which ones to skip.

@AltonBrown's Bloody Mary Remixed
There’s no denying-Alton Brown is a genius. Though not actually a chef he’s carved out a career as a food authority, with his most popular accomplishment to date being the success of his Show Good Eats. I enjoy his episodes about alcohol, and inspired by his take on the Bloody Mary, wanted to see if I could improve it. Also, for an update on my personal life, watch to the end. Music by Kevin In...
GUILTY PLEASURE - a perfect drink for summer
Summer is here, and a cold drink is needed. A summer cocktail should be refreshing and, assuming you want to enjoy more than one, light. It should be citrusy, with less alcohol than you might usually enjoy. This drink delivers on both. WORTH IT? Tasting Myrtle Bank Jamaican Rum

TL;DR, I have too much rum. While I was shooting last week’s video, which had me trying Myrtle Bank Tiki Blend, I remembered I have another bottle of Myrtle Bank. Today, I’m trying their Jamaican and comparing it to the Tiki Blend. Apologies for the short one, it’s been a nasty couple of weeks. Probitas/Veritas alternatives-Are They Better?
If you don’t know Probitas you should. A lightly aged blend of rums from Foursquare in Barbados, and Hampden in Jamaica, Probitas (or Veritas if you’re outside the States) is the ultimate daiquiri rum, and a respectable sipper as well. Now, there are other products that appear to occupy the same market space, and today I’m tasting two of them-High Seas from Transcontinental Rum Line, and Myrtle...
WHISK YOUR BOOZE--Is Hyper Decanting the future?
Last year there was a trend going around TikTok that had people whisking alcohol with a milk frother, swearing it made it taste better. Is this hack the real deal or just a bunch of…frothed up booze? Sorry, almost had a joke there. In regards to the drink I made in the video, it was one of the most memorable drinks I’ve ever had. A total accident; not necessarily the best, but one I won’t ever ...

THE ONLY EGGNOG RECIPE YOU'LL EVER NEED
This year, give her eggnog. Or just give it to yourself. You deserve it. Like so many others, this recipe is a riff on the one created by bar genius and all around nice guy Jeff Morganthaler. Whether or not my take is the best eggnog ever is up for discussion, but everyone I gave it to nearly lost their minds, and you should give it (or an approximation of it) a go. And if you’ve never had nog ...

IT DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS | The McKittrick Old Fashioned

In my opinion, one of the reasons the Old Fashioned has endured so many changes in the international drinks scene over the decades, is that it’s infinitely riffable. It was invented by Theo Lieberman in 2011, and it makes perfect sense that the drink was created at Milk & Honey, the sadly...

I do not like sweets so I might try coconut milk and not sweetened condensed milk. I know, but I worked at the dairy where they bottled Baleys flavored coffee creamers and they gave it away, all flavors. I hated them all. I also hate fufu flavored coffee that everyone pays $7.00 for a small. Yuk.😆

I wonder if this would be any good using Jack Daniels Honey whisky. I have a bottle that i need to use up as I don't care for it other than as an ingredient in confections. Also, I could swear that I saw Baileys commercials here in the States back in the late 60's. I guess I was wrong. But then, as I'm thinking back, I guess what I remember was Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry.

I live in Thailand and I use a brand of Thai Whiskey called Hong Thong. A bottle of this stuff is really cheap and is perfect for making Irish cream liqueur, although there is nothing Irish about it. Providing you don't stray too far from the core ingredients you will find that there are many slightly different ways to make this drink with different flavours. I have tried maple syrup, mint, orange and original and all were good.

I really want to try this, mostly because it seems to be a very nice middle ground between the regular Maker’s Mark and the Cask Strength. I’ve had both of those, and I like them a lot. The Maker’s 46 is too sweet for me, and the Cask Strength was fabulous but because the one I had was 108 proof it hit me like a freight train. The regular Maker’s is something that anyone can find anywhere at any time for any occasion, but for something more unique that’s not too sweet or too hot the 101 is definitely something I am wanting to try.

Looking for some recipes i did some math here. Assuming 50ml eggs and 710ml sugar being 604g, this should be somewhere between 8 and 9 brix in the End. So the full recipe should net ~6700ml (since sugar does not just add its volume). With Golden Devil and S&C being at 57% and the sherry having 18.5% alcohol the result should be at only 8.5% abv. I would maybe put in a bit more alcohol. From what i read it should be sterile somewhere between 14% and 20% abv.
