ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Lee. Most of my life I have worked in computing as a project manager and have played at DIY when absolutely necessary.
Now I am back in the UK, have bought a new house with a big garden and getting nearer to retirement I have started trying more and more (small) building projects and woodworking projects. I have collected a set of Ryobi tools (amongst other) that I have never owned before and started experimenting with things that I would never have had the confidence to do.
Who knew I would ever have a chop saw or a nail gun!!
No doubt I am getting a lot of this wrong and thought a TH-cam channel would be a great way of sharing my experiences with people at a similar level and no doubt pick up advice and guidance along the way from other TH-camrs.

Workshop 6 - starting to come together!

The refurb of the garage into a usable workshop space is finally coming together! Fitting it in around everything else has proved challenging but I feel like the old garage has now disappeared and we have a very usable space. Two if you include the utility area!!

We always love a good build so we decided to take an old pram we found in our basement and make a pirate ship for our grandson to go to Brixham Pirate Festival 2024 in. Although this is called a stroller in the US I searched and searched for a "how to" video and did not find one. In the end I just made it up as I went along!
Workshop build part 4 - renovating the garage into a workshop

Broke the back of the work this weekend and we have two distinct rooms now. The utility area is pretty much finished and that means we can store things there and they won't get covered in dust and paint. Jan won't be tripping over stuff to get to the tumble dryer! The workshop itself is a complete mess with tools and sawdust everywhere but I will chip away at that during the week.

I am on a mission to create a nice wood work shop so I can build more things over the winter. This week I have managed to mostly complete the walls, make a start on the roof and even got my miter saw station built.

The first project of the year will be converting the garage to a woodwork shop. I wanted to do this from the moment we moved in 3 years ago but now I feel I have the experience to get this done.

I don't own the video of this plane landing but thought I would share my reaction which is "blurgggghhh".... must have been terrifying and or sickening for those onboard. Thank goodness pilot was able to recover #stormmia #manchesterairport

How hot was it during October ?
it was 28 degrees when we were there but we didn't really notice the heat. It wasn't very humid so was OK. The only day I struggled was in the Valley of the Kings but even then you spent a lot of time underground!

We went with Mercury Travel. It was excellent. It’s the second time we used one of their accompanied trips (India before) and they were both excellent

We went for 2 weeks at the start of October. 10 days of touring then a few days at the resort. The Hamas thing happened while we were there so we were quite pleased to be coming back. To be honest we didn't see any change when it happened. There were already search points and armed police/army at the temples anyway

we were offered Cubs or Cardinals! The other team had a Cubs fan so it was an easy choice

Did you consider getting a plasterer in?
Hi - I definitely did! In the middle of the slog it seemed like a really good idea. In the end though it was going to be another £200-£300 and it sort of defeated the point of me doing the whole project. I accept I could not do the electrics or build the double glazing but I really wanted to try and do the rest. Had a good night doing some 3rd coat edges and I <hope> that I am nearly there !!
just to help you a little, the corner tape with re-inforced metal strips can be used for internal corners as well as outward corners, the tape is used along board to board. your joint compound for bedding tape and corner tape is only stage 1of3. "how to tape and joint using British Gypsum’s Gyproc Jointing Products" the " " how to search youtube what i added in the " " its a great diyers guide on the 3 stages of what you should be doing. and always use a plasterboard sealer get it from wickes with you using bare plaster/tape it will seal your whole room and leave the wall uniform white ready for painting.
