I love this ! I've got a spare Chrysler 100 amp alternator driven by a 6.5 horse Harbor Freight engine that I've rigged to charge some off grid batteries, I'm going to give this a try ! The 6.5 may not be enough and if it isn't, I'll just buy one of those 13 horse Harbor Freight engines :-) ... they are cheap

I would not use the cheap jumper cables. They are probably copper clad, mostly aluminum. Aluminum is not good for D.C. I would get welding wire. Cool setup. Very useful.

why bother? cut it up in situ

i installed a 2nd alternator to my explorer remove the voltage regulator and works great. in build an on board air compressor using stock ac compressor

I think the two alternators will be solution for a nice deep penetrating weld,keep the Voltage around 50V and Amperage adjust with engine speed
