Why 'upgrading' to the Galaxy s25, iPhone 17, iPhone 16, or Pixel 10 Makes No Sense!
Why does upgrading your smartphone every year feel less rewarding than ever before? In this analysis, we answer this question as we break down the subtle differences between the Samsung Galaxy S24 vs. S25, as the Google Pixel 7 vs. Pixel 9, and even the iPhone 16 and iPhone 17. We discuss the Google Pixel 10, iPhone 17, and Samsung Galaxy s25 Ultra rumors.
Instead of huge leaps in camera quality, processing power, and battery life, we’re seeing minor improvements that don’t truly transform the user experience. With longer software support, incredible camera capabilities already in older models, and eco-friendly considerations, sticking with your current device may be the best choice you never knew you had.
Whether you’re eyeing the next-gen flagship, comparing specs like the Tensor G2 vs. G4 processors, or wondering if a 120Hz display is really a game-changer, this video will help you see through the marketing hype. Find out why upgrading your phone might not make sense in 2024 and beyond, and learn how to get more value, sustainability, and enjoyment from the smartphone you already own.

The Surprising Reason You Don't Need RTX 5090 for Gaming
มุมมอง 9K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
The NVIDIA RTX 5090 is here, boasting revolutionary specs and unmatched performance-but do you really need to upgrade? 💻 In this video, we break down the RTX 5090’s specs, highlight its incredible strengths, and explain why older GPUs like the RTX 4080 or RTX 4090 might still be more than enough for your gaming or productivity needs. Upgrading your GPU is a big investment, so let’s dive into wh...
3080, still getting 50-80fps with 4k rt and dlss with vast majority of new releases up until now.
I use a 1080 and a ultra wide 5120x1440. I use a 3080 FTW and wonder is i should upgrade to get everything maxed out. The 5120x1440 has a max of 120hz but I like to crank up the eye candy and had to turn it down on Wukong, what games might be next for turning the setting down? So I feel maybe the upgrade could be an idea.
The funny thing is, when my friend build rendering rigs, they usually get triple or quad 4090s... Telling people that a single GPU is overpowered for gaming in that context is a bit ridiculous.. Yes it's a big expensive card for consumers, but who are you to judge if someone buys a hypercar instead of a family van..
Many ppl are misled into buying stuff they never needed for their circumstances, I've Clearly said if you're a 'regular gamer' you don't need these very top of the line cards. I don't think someone building a rendering or movie studio rig or something like that qualifies as a 'regular gamer' who just wants games to run smoothly. Only Jay 2 Cents discusses this issue, a few others try to address it in their build guides - most other big channels just talk 4k, 8k stuff most people don't care about yet & influencing ppl to think they also need these big GPUs.
@calebs-take fair point yes, but I also hear a lot of youtubers say that we simply shouldn't buy the 5090 because they're so expensive.. Considering prices in the enterprise segment and how close these top end cards are by comparison, I honestly don't get the point of such a statement.. Especially factoring in inflation.. But I agree that people should buy to cover their needs and nothing more, but that's still a bit relative on the GPU side depending on what level of grahipcs settings and resolution you expect to run, because by the end of the day, a 4090 will outperform a 4080...
Still plays 1080p vsync on. Playing emulation and mostly paradox games. Mostly CPU intensive games.
Long as you having fun. Older games ran better bro. I'm still doing 1080p, long as frames are High & smooth,
im on a 3070 8GB, i think i want to get 5070 when it drops but probably not think about it ever again
This is reasonable because you will be skipping one GPU generation, & it appears you squeeze maximum value from them, 5070 will serve you for long - I was bashing ppl who can't wait to upgrade the highest end GPUs year to year as if they're missing out on something huge, like someone who just got the 4090 & is still planning to get the 5090, & so on...
I get where you are coming from, but there is something to be said for the value of longevity; I mean, take a look at the 1080 ti --- that thing did it all for a long time, and even though it was expensive, it provided a lot of value to those who got on board at launch (it's basically as good as the 3060 12GB that you are currently using, even though it is 2.5 Gen older). If you compare that to someone who bought, let's say a 960, then had to upgrade to a 2060 because of VRAM, and then felt like they had to upgrade to a 4060 because of VRAM again, and compare that to the 1080 ti amortized across it's useful life, I'm pretty sure the person who bought the 1080 ti ultimately spent less money. I think the 5090 might have the potential to be another GOAT product...
I agree, the biggest selling point for the 5090 is VRAM, but we'll see when it drops. I'm definitely upgrading my 3060 to a 4090 - I suspect the price MAY drop after the 5090 launches & I plan to squeeze all value out of it as I have done the 3060. The 1080ti & 2080ti were Awesome, I saw somewhere Nvidia guys said it was a 'mistake' to make them so good that ppl didn't need any upgrade for a long time, I hope the 5090 is so, but I doubt they will repeat that 'mistake'.
1080p is like 720p to me , i can't play a game on that resolution, 4k is a must otherwise upscale to 4k
I am for the most part an AMD guy since they're not trying to squeeze people for every dollar but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't trade my 7800XT (amazing card for me) and get a 4080 or 4090.
considering AMD myself, I believe they are catching up & closing the gap, Intel as well. In next 5 years they will probably match every Nvidia offering, especially on the higher end, as public perception catches up as well. AMD is solid already in most use cases.
Speak for yourself. We are at least one generation away from running the Pimax Crystal at native resolution in demanding flight and racing sims. Want 4k triples? You better invest in the best. There is no such thing as “overkill”. My now 2 year old 4090 is worth just as much as I bought it for. I’ve literally lost nothing in two years and 1000 hours of simming. These cards when you consider the hours of entertainment you get are very cheap per hour. Buy a 4060 and be ready to upgrade a lot more often. Sure, if you are playing Halo then stick with your current card and be happy. But the idea that everyone purchasing the high end cards is just “chasing frames” is disingenuous.
i need to upgrade because i only have 6 gb free vram with my rtx 3060ti. I have a standard consumption of 2gb with RTX Voice, Discord, Chrome, 3 Monitors. As a result, I have strong 1% drops down to the low 2-digit range, if not single digits.
Makes sense because it seems you keep your GPUs long time - maximum utilization. Such an upgrade makes sense here since you'll keep it through a generation. I was bashing the guys who believe they must upgrade with every GPU release as if they're 'missing something' even if they already got the current latest one,
People should stop buying nvidia cards and if most of the people will do this and skip a generation of cards then the price will surely drop.
Intel & AMD are slowly taking market share & also lowering cost, which is great for the whole industry instead of one super dominant player,
Simple math operations: Rumors are 5090 will faster than 4090 on 30-50%. Let's take fifty for more advantage. Alan wake 2 with path tracing in native with ultra - 32 fps in 4k 32 + 0.5 * 45 = 48. 48 fps on native for 3000doll card! (Don't believe in mrsp around 2000, it will be scalp)
I mean yeah, but most people simply want their game to look good & run smoothly & may not pay such close attention to stats if it won't make a big difference in the experience - mostly VR & SOME 4K & 8K people will notice the effect of these numbers
I Have Msi Suprim X 3090Ti i can wait too RTX 6090 or longer :)
Makes perfect sense. I buy a flagship phone and keep it until the battery life is degraded to 50%. A good phone is good for the next 4 years at least.
Yeah, every flagship from 2022 till now has been pretty solid with everything we need really & more,
I'm blown away that many people are still running 1080p, I've been running 4k for 5 years now and before that was running 1440p for 3 years. However, even on my 3090 I'm still having to run DLSS and sometimes turn down other settings to hit 60fps minimums, I fully plan on going to the 5090 and finally being able to consistently hit my screens refresh rate of 144hz, on 4K and max setting. I realize some titles may not be optimized well and I'll have to still use DLSS, but that's far better than where I am at now.
yep, steam player data. The most widely used GPU is still the RTX 3060 and over 50% of people still play at 1080P and prefer 1080P
Compare VR performance. What's the comparison there?
Hot take. Too much painting with a wide brush. People playing at 4k playing demanding games will most certainly benefit from a 5080 or 5090. If you're at 1080p using a 4090 you're an idiot.
So when do we actually stop chasing these ever increasing resolutions & actually focus on getting good games like we used to before, when the resolution was lower but the games were much better - in the 360, PS2 era, As in where is all of this going? 4K, 8K, 10K, at what point is it enough? - it could also be that most people still play 1080P because they realize there is no point to keep chasing higher & higher resolutions & just enjoy the game NOW,
And just a follow-up question, if you get the 5090 & it stabilizes your 4K experience, will you again start looking into 10K gaming?
@@calebs-take Ever increasing? Jesus you're just full of hot takes aint ya.
We’ve come to a point in phone technology that the biggest upgrades are software wise or just a bigger sensor or battery
true, they're re-selling the same phone every year nowadays
@ like they always say it’s better and would use words to confuse people in thinking it’s better then last year
they've pretty much made everything now, the tech is pretty good at this point, maybe only the transparent phone is left - for those who care for that
@@calebs-take very true
theres so much stupidity in these comments..i cant help but clown..the amount of degnerate consumerism..its fucking crazy in here
you are 100% correct.
I'm waiting for an Intel B780 card with 20 GB RAM, a 384-bit bus, TDP of 300W, and costing only $400.
wise & reasonable
Without a doubt the 5090 will make a significant difference for flight simulation in VR but of course this is a small corner of the market…
Pretty uninforned take here. 4k, 240hz monitors exist, i use two of them. You keep going around responding to every comment saying that fps is capped on most games these days when thats 100% not true. I havent played any modern game in the past 10 years that's had capped fps. There's plenty of people, myself included, that would get a pretty large performance increase from upgrading from their 4090, to a 5090.
Elden Ring & Dark Souls are perfect examples of capping due to engine issues? Are they not recent games
& where did I say 240hz monitors don't exist? - I'm literally promoting one in the video?
My 4070 ti super is just a placeholder for the 5090. Gonna give my kids the 4070
Shid u need that 5090
With the Pimax Crystal Super coming out soon, the 5090 will likely still struggle with 90fps and the HMD is capable of 120Hz apparently. I'm not sure if that it's even capable to get 120Hz at that resolution without compression or foveated rendering with the crazy high resolution of both of the panels.
Exactly, these TH-camrs whining about cards being “overkill” is just ridiculous. They make the high end cards for a reason.
I’m not going to buy it but I currently have a 4090. I’m so EAGER to compare the TWO!
I have a 4090 and will be buying a 5090. A 4090 is not "more than what most people need", that is an absurd statement. I can see why this channel has zero engagement.
I literally LOL'D at this video. Im on a 4090 and will definately be upgrading to a 5090. Souch wrong information in this videoz some games cant fully utilize a 4090? Lol 😂 go and try cyberpunk and black myth wukong at 4k native without dlss and frame gen. Goodluck trying to even achieve 60 fps, there are guys like me who want to get 60+ at native 4k without using dlss and frame gen. Anyway i couldnt help but laugh at the amount of ignorance on this video i found it entertaining 😂😂
i still use my rtx 2060 i dont play much new games because they are awful and it still does my lightweight rendering on daz studio for my work.Great video. I agree you dont need to upgrade because something '"new"' came to the market. The rtx 3090 now costs 500 euros in the used market, tech loses value/money after some period of time
I need a 5090 for gaming and productivity. It`s faster and never fast enough, productivity only gets more punch and runs even smoother. Games are playable in higher settings so they will be better. There`s always an excuse to upgrade and i will buy it the minute it`s available.
Right if I'd use a small 24 inches monitor I'd never need 4k and a stronger GPU than a RX 6700 XT ir so but while I love to play on my 65 inches LG OLED C1 I need at least a 4080 or a 7900 XT and I'm using a 4090.👍🏻
Its not about what you need or not for gaming. I don't even need my 4090 for 4k gaming but I just need it for my ego 😂🎉
Hey Mr potato farmer. The Potato King called and wanted his potatoes back. Your low standards bring shame to even the lowest potato GPU out there...
When last I checked potato farming was a reasonably good business. That aside, most of you don't understand that some of these games have FPS caps & they will not exceed that FPS no matter how much GPU you throw at it. Yes, there are ways to bypass these caps, but then you risk the game becoming unstable & junky. Another reason many of these games are always power hungry even with ordinary looking graphics is because they ship while badly optimized by developers. I really want you to get the 5090 & witness some of the games still drag on it or run badly for these reasons, so that I can laugh very hard that you thought the 5090 was going to somehow make these games super smooth at 4k.
@@calebs-take Oh guess lots of potato farmers switched to farming bitcoin due to the rise of btc value recently so the potato value might be on the rise to levels unheard! Anyway the best experience you will get with a X3D cpu and low latency ram. And the secret trick is to cap your framerate a good bit under max fps. This will get you buttery smooth framerates in most (but not all) games. And lots of RGB! That will improve fps in all games by at least 50%!
I'm running my RTX 4090 until I can no longer run games at ultra 4K 60fps.
Sensible... Maximum Utilization for every dollar spent...
Got a 4090 and nope can't use my HMD at full resolution @ 120hz let alone 90hz NO modern game can be played with settings set to epic or even ultra. So YES I'm buying a RTX5090.
Guest what 😂😂 you wont be able with 5090 at least newer games old ok heres the thing nvidia is not making the same mistake of the 1080 ti a beast at a good price
youre whats known as a sucker my boy..enjoy
We need graphic cards with upgradable ram. I'm old enough that I remember that I had an svga card that you could upgrade for 1 to 2 mb of ram. And even some early 3d cards (and even sound cards) could add chips or ram modules. No many people upgraded, but has to be an standard. If I can buy a motherboard with the ram I want, why I cannot choose the graphic chip, the ram and even the graphic output or fans? Also you are only talking about nvidia. There is also amd that it's competitive, and now Intel also joined the fight with competitive middle range cards.
Most Thoughtful Comment. Upgradable VRAM would be Awesome 😎💯
& in reality, Vram is the main issue with modern GPUs, if we can upgrade that, we'll be set for like REALLY LONG
I read all the comments here,so sad that ppl are really blinded by all the hype it causes. What is the problem about dlss?I don't care if it fakes real frames,as long as i can play it properly im happy, thanks because of dlss i don't need a newer gpu for a few years.
as long as the game looks good & runs well
Love your video, sadly still too much ppl fall for this strategy and let themselves be manipulated by all the hype.Same for motherboards and cpu's,buy for what you need, not for what everyone wants or has.you don't need a 14900k or 9800x3d,im still playing a 9900ks paired with a 4080,and still playing all latest games on high fps.
4080 you'll be set for a While, especially with no bottlenecks on your build. Ppl are even scared to hear that it's okay to adjust some video settings at times, it's like plague or something. Plus I've been repeating that if the game ships unoptimized & 'bulky', it will still have issues on higher end GPUs anyway & the 5090 still won't solve it if it's just the game itself,
maybe the 60 series might be worth an upgrade then, like 5 years from now or something,
I agree! have the 4090 since launch day and sticking with it until the 6090 drops in 2028 lol
YES! the Exact message I was trying to get across! It's much better if you have the 4090 to wait 1 or 2 GPU generations b4 another upgrade - when something has REALLY improved in the GPUs. I was also getting tired of these videos telling ppl to stop buying 4090s & high-end GPUs on Black Friday deals & wait for the 50 series to upgrade - without addressing whether they actually were going to need it for their use cases
240hz? thats not even enough, it still flickers. i can still see every single mouse cursor.
In that case, you may want to wait 2 or 3 more GPU generations b4 upgrading,
1. who are you to tell me i dont need overkill. 2. i heat my room with my gpu in winter.
😂😂good one
I'm going for the 7900xtx. I could care less about RT.
i got gtx 1070 and i am happy! yea no way i give 500 or more eu to upgrade nope
For slightly under 500 euro you can get a 4060ti or slightly used 4070, which is pretty good
The 1070 may be getting outdated soon tho
@@calebs-take i may upgrade when 4070 comes out and that's only if the price is right lets be real 600-800 eu for a mid range gpu is a big no for me and i wont get a 5060 just to play new games on low to mid graphics no ty i may as well keep my 1070 for the next 10 years
@@calebs-take under 500 for 4060ti its still expensive you know 4060 ti is just a little better than 4060 and both got like the same performance with arc 580 that is way cheaper nope no chance i look up gpu comparisons on internet and youtube 4070 seems like the best for me if it was like 400 eu i would buy it right away also i don't trust buying stuff from other ppl even if it works for 1-2 months what you do if it dies the 3rd? with what guaranty? and if it got guaranty they may have tinker with it and void it or some other trouble
What a bad video....
You can't upgrade what isn't released and tested yet. With lazy game developers coding ridiculous requirements into games (RTX/Indiana Jones), it will only get worse after You've already bought the card.
well im 95 kid and i had destroy my eyes in this small stressing monitors . I need to evolve im competive player i like online games soon or later only game would be enjoying in 1080p Its League of Legends. I need to keep a long distance to save my eyes. PS5 pro succeed to give a good performer 4k 60 fps with better ray-tracing so for price is more valuable but because all my games are on pc is something i have to do and 4090 is so damn expensive by shes own. So if i wait so much i will give a couple of monhts more to have last tech and at least be sure i would surpass the ps5 pro. Saying that like i got a 4000 quadro series that run terrible now days in more cases.
I definitely need a 5090 for 4k path tracing gaming. I currently have a gtx 1660 super
You mean scamtracing? After 6yr it's been out can you even name me 3 games that really use that and deliver? It's looks awful on most games and on those where it's looks ok you get unplayble fps...a real scamtracing💀😂
@APNANO-c6t What games does it look awful in? It looks amazing in portal, cyberpunk, alan wake 2, Indiana Jones
@@Joshda039 how do you go from a 1660 to a 5090..the fact that you started with that tells me you dont got money like that..unless you landed something new..why are you stepping out your lane like that? just pick up an 88xt thats basically a 4080 for 5 or 6..why go full retard and drop 2k?
"Reasonably recent." So, 1080Ti is still a go, then.
for people like me who love modded VR games from flat to VR you are absolutely wrong. Its already hard to max out FPSwith flat games that run in VR because it requires double the performance. Educate yourself friend! Not even 4090 RTX can handle a lot of these games maxed out.
Many of you gamers forget that developers put FPS caps on some games - Meaning no matter how much GPU power you throw at the game, it will not exceed a certain FPS at 4K. Yes, there are ways to bypass these caps, but you risk the game being unstable at that point. And remember that if games continue to launch as they've been launching these days - with lots of bugs & being shipped while they're still too 'bulky' & 'junky' - they will still run poorly even on higher end GPUs because they are not simply not well optimized or 'finished'. But of course for VR it makes sense to upgrade... but it would be even wiser to wait like 2 more GPU generations to be able to have that satisfaction in VR that you guys are looking for. But hey, it's okay to try the 50 series for VR at least,
IMO VR gaming is a gimmick same as 3D tv's...most gamers don't like it, but if you do that's cool and if you want max the VR gaming settings i think you getting your hopes too high since the 5090 won't be able to do the job either it's still way too soon for that, you should wait for the RTX 7090 it's gonna take 5-6yr to max out VR gaming fps.
@@APNANO-c6t VR gaming is a gimmick? Do you even VR buddy? I love VR games and I have played plenty of them. The fact they are modded from flat tv to VR now is incredible the amount of games you can play. How is that a gimmick? Btw, I'm not asking to max games at a 5090 for flat modded games to VR but it will be very close. Most games are already close to being maxed out on a 4090. Unfortunately my 3080 can't handle those games right now due to the double performance they require but some I have played and they are anything but disappointing. Have you heard of UEVR? The fact you are able to use 6DOF motion controllers in these games is incredible with what they can do these days. Most gamers who "dont like it" either A. can't afford a PC to actually run them or B. have never played them. Only games that are exclusive to whatever they own. Go play ghostrunner in VR and tell me thats not worth every penny spent :P
@wicked1rish no i don't VR as you can understand from my comment it's not my thing i tried it and didn't like it...it gives me headache same as 3d tv's back in the days i honestly just don't like all that, i prefer to play my games and watch movies in high quality on falt screen no VR no 3D.
@@APNANO-c6t fair enough. It's a shame people deal with motion sickness in VR. I have always been very fortunate not to. I know bodies can adapt to it if they so desire. I think it's the future myself and it isn't dying anytime soon with the modded community out there. I love VR and I can't ever see myself going back to flat screen games ever again
