I've had my microlocs for almost 7 months. I have mostly gray hair around the front perimeter of my head. Almost all of the microlocs have fallen out in that area. I did get mylocs installed professionally. I did go back to the original installer because I didn't like that I was charged extra after what I was quoted at my consultation. I have 410 microlocs. Any advice as to why the gray locs have fallen out only in that area? The person that does my reties stated that the locs in that area were maybe too skinny to start with. The rest of my hair is somewhat salt and pepper. I do get my reties every 7 to 8 weeks. My hair is thick and dense.

I just did my first retwist! I’m so glad about this because the interlocking thing was getting ridiculous

your insights were super helpful!! i’m a little over 4 months locd. i got the install professionally done (i was abroad and it was cheap) and did two reties by myself and honestly i don’t have the time or money to keep up with a strict retie schedule. im in my fourth year of college and plan to do a phd, i started maintaining my baby cousins locs, and i have depression so some times i really just don’t have to the energy to do a retie. i’m not too shocked by how regulated the micro loc community is since ive been natural since i was in 7th grade but its still so exhausting with so much misinformation and fear mongering going around. i especially don’t like the notion that if you can’t afford micro locs then you shouldn’t get it. like during the 8 years or so where i was natural, being able to do my own hair helped me TONS in growing confident in my black womanhood so regardless of all the external factors in my life rn i knew if i was ever locd i would want to diy it. anyways what im really trying to say is that thank you for sharing and im so excited to try this method out myself!! 🤗🤗

I started my traditional locks with 2 strand twists . I only did retwist for 4years had no problems. I retwisted every 2-3 weeks when I washed my hair. My hair was the bomb always wore it curly by simply plaiting it. I changed because they became heavy even though they were on the smaller side. Now have microlocs 4th time!! Hope they last. Thanks for the tip. Will definetly try this route.

Your channel is giving permission to not follow the “rules”… and also reassuring me that I can and will still have healthy locs even if I don’t follow the “rules”. How do i know i'm twisting tight enough? Do you leave this on overnight? I tried practicing with a little section but i don't know if i did it right

Combine. Annoying as hell to keep shaping and cutting. Had the same issue. Just combine and be done with it!
