The Most Expensive Chinese ADV? Rainy Test Ride 2024 CFMOTO 800MT Explore (IBEX 800MT)
มุมมอง 1Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Ever since I got into adventure riding, the CFMOTO 800MT has been high on my wishlist. I’ve spent a lot of time on the marketplace, trying to find a slightly used one to ride and review long-term, but they seem pretty hard to come by. These bikes are incredibly popular, with owners holding onto them longer than other brands like BMW or KTM. And now, with CFMOTO bringing out the more off-road-fo...

The road I am riding on is called Old Bells Line of Road, it started from the Zig Zag Railway and it’s a starting point for a lot of interesting place to explore, place like Newnes Plateau, Garden of Stones, which I never even heard before. There are a lot of cool lookout and point of interest that I want to explore today. The plan is to check out the famous Powerline Track, which I already saw...

I Crushed My DR 650 -- While stayed on the bike?
มุมมอง 1.1K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
I've been working on this DR in the garage for weeks, and now the adventure build is almost complete. I've been itching to take it out for a proper test ride, because this is my first carbureted motorcycle, this is my very first dual sport, and it has the highest mileage of any bike I've ever owned. So, my expectations were through the roof. I was both excited and nervous about how it would per...
Why did I buy a DR650 for my Adventure Bike?
มุมมอง 9K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
I’ve recently purchased this 2009 DR650 with 56,000 kilometers on the clock. Honestly, buying any used motorcycle is a risky decision, but buying a 15-year-old, heavily modified bike with no service history and high mileage is even riskier. To make matters worse, the battery was completed flat during the inspection, and it could only be jump-started, I can’t even do the test ride. Despite all t...

Over the past few months, I’ve been on the hunt for my next adventure motorcycle as my interest in moto camping and off-road riding continues to grow. As a novice adventure rider, I was particularly drawn to the new entry-level ADV bikes available on the market, and I test rode quite a few of ...

Is the cfmoto 450 faster than de DR?
What year DR was it? Suzuki changed the third gear part number in 2006 and 2008
春风摩托CFMOTO 春风得意马蹄疾, 一日看尽长安花。
Awesome review! thanks a ton!😊
Thanks for watching!
I bought my Dr 650.brand new in 2006 and never had any problems with it....Best bike made and it's the only one I'll take into the outback. I think u were just plain unlucky but 99 % of these bikes ate bullet proof
Sounds like I was just unlucky!
I would get the new cfmoto 450, seems to be alot of aussies running it and they seem to like it, solid bike.
Apparently the 3rd gear explodes on these bikes, make sure it’s a solid 3rd gear in there
😂😂😂😂
very unlucky doesnt happen often,my condolences
Suzuki changed the part number for 3rd gear in 2006 and 2008, hopefully newer models don't have this issue. Maybe worth replacing with the updated 3rd gear for owners of older models?
That's very unlucky mate . If this happened to mine I'd try and rebuild it with a Nova gearbox . Whatever bike you get I hope you have better luck :)
Hope so! Thanks!
Just buy the himalayan450
While I haven't bought my next bike yet, I got a lot of push toward the DR650 when I put out a video talking about my search. A lot of people LOVE this bike.
The DR650 is a great bike and a solid choice for many people!
For an ADV bike, simplicity is key, ability to access the bike for minor adjustments and repair are simply a must. Congrats on your choice.
Congrats and good luck from a Honda NX500 owner!
look at the ZONTES 703
I would suggest that you get a KTM. You will love it. Get the 690, it is rock solid. ❤❤
hahahaha funniest comment I've ever seen buy a KTM. You do know what KTM stands for don't you??
You owe me $3 for using my past comment in this video, lol. Unfortunately, you experienced one of the rare failures. I do find it odd that your buddy follows you in a truck, and why not just put the DR in the bed instead of waisting time getting a trailer. You bought a beat-up DR650 from the start, I would look for a well maintained one. There are about a million in Australia.
Thanks for watching!
New dr400
Try a Royal enfeild 450 take it for a test ride bikes not to expensive
Parts can break on any bike regardless of brand or model. Lots of folks like to hate on this brand or that brand but in reality, they all have many moving parts inside of them and can fail without warning. Learning to repair them yourself is very rewarding. Ride safe!
hey mate thats terrible.get another dr650 this time pull the clutch out and loctite the screw back in. there are hex head screws you can get that you can wire them together they will never come out again. very sad mate. good luck
Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it!
You change your bikè every 3 or 6 months???, wtf, it takes months to get an ADV bike ready for an outback ride in the real world. My ADV / Enduro bikes Ive owned for up to ten years
Im sorry about your bad luck. I have become a huge fan of these bikes after buying mine new in 2010. It has morphed over the years into an adventure bike, tho the commutes to and from work and town i mostly use it for are not very adventurous. It is more comfy and capable of hauling a bunch of cargo. Im up over 22,000 miles now and runs good as new. I have heard about the 3rd gear being improperly hardened on these occasionally. That six speed set from procycle is enticing but expensive, should i ever have problems with the 5 speed that is probably the route i would go. I am curious how many miles you had on it when it failed?
I had about 58,000km on it when the third gear went out.
Sorry about your bike. This was the first of your videos I watched and I am so glad I found you. It's always the small motorcycle youtubers that make these perfect videos.
Thanks for watching!
My introduction to motorcycles, in 1971, was from getting a Suzuki with a blown jack shaft for free. I was 12 yrs old, but I tore it down, found the broken shaft, got a new one for $12, and put it back together, and it ran! I had few tools…but got an impact driver and snap ring pliers, learned to hold the clutch ball in with grease while re-assembling, and learned a lot, mostly how easy it could be. Nothing here except that memory. Cheers.
Sounds like you were a natural mechanic from a young age!
The irony of trying ride at idle on the road, as opposed to riding safely on path to nearest service station....
New DR Z4S Comming up, if you Can wait…..
Nothing sadder then seeing your bike being driven away , broken or not, we get attached to our mechanical friends. Get yourself another DR650 , and continue your adventures ! ;)
Yeah, diffenetly in the hunt of another DR in good condition. But I am also excited to try out something different.
Got these gearbox apart - maybe put in one of those "Nova Racing DR650 Wide Ratio Gear Set".....13% taller 4th and 5th gear kits, which also lowers 1st and 2nd- perfect for hwy riding ??.
Get the new drz4s 👌
Not KTM. Buy a leftover, new bike. At this price, they are all pretty good- Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, etc. Each has pro's and con's. A new DR might last you a long time.
I've been looking into some other models, but the DR has always been special to me, maybe I'll give it another shot. 😄
@@MademotoADV You could also buy one and bring it to a shop and have the mechanic update the gears with stronger gears and update the clutch too. Pro-actively fix what people in forums say can go bad. Carry a good selection of tools so you can also fix many things while out on the road. Spare plug, chain, master link, fuel filter, brake pads, a Multi-meter, etc.
Love how you go for a ride and your buddy cruises behind in a dual cab. Glad she's running again mate.
Want to create content? Buy an XR650 and ride it.
How would you compare Svart to DR?
Road vs Duel Sprot. I prefer DR
Get a CRF300L. Honda is the only truly reliable brand. These DR650s are over-hyped by old geezers reminiscing of days gone by. Thankfully, you had a good friend with you. Awesome guy!
Oh puhleaze. Yamaha no good either huh?
Yeah No....I'll be sticking to my KLR, cheap and easy!
It’s time for DRZ4S 🎉
Nice video bro. I guess I also would have sold it as I'm not a good mechanic. Best thing would be to buy another "indestructible" bike - like a KLR 650 and ride it till you break it.
Great point. I ruled out KLR because the weight and lack of power. Such a mule and not that exciting.😂
Guess what? All bikes are breakable, just that some are more easy to ruin than others.
Get another DR650. This time, reach out to the guy that bought your totaled bike. Ask him to teach you how to fix the “doohickey “.
Depends, now that you had the DR reflect on your experiences. What did you love about it? What did you wish it had more of? Focus on that and use it to compare against possible replacements. Something will rise to the top. It might be the DR, and might be something completely different. As a DR owner I know it’s not indestructible but I balance that with the ability to maintain and repair it myself. You just had the ultimate DR failure…most would walk away but I would want to know if the cases are salvageable and if so what an opportunity to add a Nova box and 790. Failing that, it’s a parts bike for the next one that all the upgrades can be swapped to. Maybe I’m broken…there’s no hope for me… Better luck next on the next one.
It is a hard decision to make, but I am glad the DR gave me a lot of experience to draw from when choosing my next bike.
Did you really ride her for 100K miles w/ no real problems..... lmao, that's a remarkable ride on any bike when you consider how many bikes are lost in crashes alone. You did some fine verbal jousting in the beginning of this = TOUCHÉ
Get a Cfmto 450mt, 🇭🇲💯🤙😆
I have been searching for a dual sport and joined a Facebook group for each one that interests me. I was surprised to see how many DR &XR owners are having breakdowns! EVERY TH-cam review says these bike are unkillable. I guess it's reputation over reality.
It seems like most people have good luck with these bikes and they dont say anything, only the minor who had the issue speak loudly(myself included🤣).
:(
Sorry to hear about your DR mate. I did enjoy your video and have subscribed in the hope that you will purchase another one. Good luck.
Thanks for the sub!
New DRz coming soon.
Yes! But 5 Speed🤣
@@MademotoADVSupposedly may have different ratios. If they space the ratios right a 5 speed would be ok I think since it has decent power. Lower 1st and higher 5th
@@MademotoADV True, Here in Oz we have had the e model with pumper carb & plastic tank, excellent low down toque, good pickup and a bit lighter than the s.
Got a bottom end,but I'm in Scotland 🏴
It looks like you want to go out on adventures so why don't you be adventuresome and get a CFmoto 450. I am sorry for your loss. The other way you can approach this situation is to teach yourself how to work on your own machine and get another DR 650 or something like it that real simple to work on (something without a computer). Good luck.
CFMOTO would be a interesting one to get.🧐
@MademotoADV whatever you do just don't stop riding and having fun. Make sure the bike you get will provide the fun you want.
Try a KLR 650 they are pretty good value and very reliable
