Kawasaki W650 Smoky Ride during 2017 fire season.
2017 was a bad year for forest fires in the NW and still in California as this is being posted, Tired of staying in due to the poor air quality I hopped on the W650 and had a nice ride.

A true in a Barn find Kawasaki W650 The bike had/has corrosion but the process of bring this classic back has begun. It will be my winter project. New tires, chain and sanding and polishing has made a dent in bringing this classic back. It has 17,000 miles and runs good.

Testing out the Suzuki TS250 before restoration. Paid $500 for the bike, it was a deal, I did clean it up a bit but a nice find. I rode a 1972 TS250 in high school and took it everywhere and never had any problems.

1984 Suzuki RM500e walk around before the shipper gets there to take it away. This bike is going to Australia. This is a low time RM500 with a lot of NOS parts, more can be seen on SuzukiRM500.com about this bike.

1984 Suzuki PE175e walk around before the shipper came to pick up the bike. It is sold and going to Australia from the USA. It is a low timer and still had original tires before going through the bike. I bought the bike to ride but the RMX250 in my other video's is a much better bike for me, and there are more parts available.
Scottsdale Water Hole MX Practice, 1978 Suzuki RM250, Arizona Motocross

Practice at the Scottsdale water hole, Everyone who rode dirt bikes in Arizona in the 1970's and early 1980's rode here at some time. This was the place to be on a Saturday or Sunday for unofficial MX racing. The vast AZ desert was like a dream to ride on back then. This area at Scottsdale Road and Pima is houses on to of houses and will be ruined forever.

Motocross, flat track and off road to see who was the best overall rider. I believe Bob Hannah took the top score. Great close up of Hannah and the pits.

Took the new 1995 Suzuki DR350 out for a trail ride. While the bike is nice on the street it's suspension is waaaay soft for the dirt. Look like I have some set up to do. Still a nice bike.

Cline Butte Black Run (hardest),loop #20 ,1991 Suzuki RMX250 Good trail some rocks maybe should have waited another week or two to get some more riding in on the bike, but made it ok. I was glad I had the RMX and not the RM250. RMX's torque is more forgiving. Great trail bike!
Suzuki RMX250 ride, first time on 2 wheels 8 months! 1st ride in Oregon on RMX
มุมมอง 4869 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the first time back on the 1991 Suzuki RMX250 in almost a year. And the first ride on 2 wheels in 8 months in a new area with new trails. Bike started 2nd kick! I was impressed. Cline Butte is 20 minutes away for me so I should get to know the place pretty soon.
I raced here back in ‘75, 250 amateur. What a great track.
Thank you so much for this video! I remember that oval track. My dad and rose there 2-3 weekends a month, and we rode from the entrance to the top of the Matterhorn to watch. Then over to the oval track to warm up, then headed down to the TT track. I feel so fortunate to have grown up within a mile and a half as the crow flys from there. I am back here now and drive by all the time. Great memories. Thank you ❤
Wow that is Museum quality!!! I am completely envious of you owning that machine.
Yep.... I was there....all the time...!!! I loved to see how far I could fly off that jump. It was good practice because my first motocross race at a professional track was Arizona Cycle Park... with that HUGE down hill. I was only 15 years old... but would fly 3/4 way down. Coming up to that jump ... It was like going off a sky jump.... I would give a little tug on the front end. Once I was in the air... I would shift up to the next gear ... so when I landed... the engine was ready for the added speed gain from flying most of the way down that hill. It was such a great place to grow up and we had all the freedom in the world to ride just about anywhere we wanted. Here is a little vid I have from back then... First part just practicing... I'm on the Yamaha 125 and 250.. Then footage from Arizona Cycle Park...Thanks for posting!!! th-cam.com/video/mKti3QelhHA/w-d-xo.html
Good stuff.
Good one. I bought one just like it. Fair shape and runs. Need spokes or a rear wheel. Not as nice as yours but I'm working on it.

Got any old baja bug races from saddleback same ish year
I remember reading about this in MXA. I think I still have the issue
I actually rode at this park and the tracks. Not raced, just rode. How freakin old am I!!! Damn. I remember the Matterhorn looked like a small Everest. I recall they had like a plaque of sorts of people who made it. Rickman Triumphs sounded great going up. Days when 4 inches of travel in the rear was plush.
I raced Saddleback even though I lived in AZ. It was a big deal to go to California for the TransCal races. I'm old to and my friend who went with me died last year at 59. Great times. I'd go back if I could.
@@verbalwidget7267 Really sorry to hear about your friend. Going to saddleback was a huge deal for me too. If not for my uncle taking us there, I never would've made it there. I was motorcycle crazy as a kid.
I recall Steve McQueen's name was on that sign at the top of the Matterhorn. I climbed it after four tries on my 1969 Kawasaki 238. No one but my buddies to witness though. Great times at Saddleback.
@@scotthartley5386 You made it up? I think I recall it was like a wall at the top. Long (getting steeper) runway on the way to that wall. I can't imagine doing that on a two stroke. I doubt it had much low end. A 250 had to have been screaming all the way up. Hey! Be thankful your friends were there to see it. At least someone saw it. Nightmare had there been nobody else there that you knew, or knew you! Haha
@@twoweeledsoto6072 Yes it was actually vertical about 30 feet from the top. The first three times I launched over the wall and slid all the way back down. I finally made it by shifting down from third gear to first while I was in the air at the top of the wall, and ringining it out the rest of the way over the top. That bike had some good power when it was on it. You are probably one of the only a handfull of people that even knows about that epic hillclimb. It certainly helped to be 17 and invincible at the time :)
I was at that race and really had a great time. I flagged at that track a few times and raced 125 and open class (beginner) a few times. Great place. Even met what may be the current owner of that track doing a service call/install when I worked with an IT service provider more than a decade back.
What a gloomy day, I guess I missed the sun shine at saddleback.

Nice bike
hi Ron!
Nice bike, Good video, shame about the sound, couldn,t hear a thing you said, such a shame.
A million weekends spent there riding back in the late 1970's and early 80's. What a great time to live in Scottsdale.
Supermoto started right there with this event....
gotta love those old yz's they looked badass!
Nice restoration bud ! Where did you get the frame paint for the Pe ?
Shes a beauty. Wish you could up the volumne as I could not hear anything you were saying. I now have 4 of these rascals that I need to restore. Vrooommmmmm, vrooooom.....gotta love these old 2 strokes.
That's awesome!!! Thank you for sharing this. Unreal motocross history in arizona. Love it.
Suzuki DR350, Redmond Oregon, Suzuki DR, Bend Oregon.
Nice vid! That was a really nice track back then suicide hill was the big jump there, it was big when they first built it. Tony D had that track dialed that day .
Grab a couple DoubleTake mirrors if you're going to be doing much offroad. I have them on my 99 SE and like them.
What did you get for it? $ ?
Just bought one myself :-} Its a 73. finished putting the lights back on it today. Had it bored to 71mm and put a new piston in it now its one kick and it fires right up.
That bike looks great!! No restoration needs! That old lady is ready for a living room!
Nice very nice mate.
I plan to. I had shoulder surgery and still on the mend plus I have not got the Oregon M/C license yet? I am using a Go-Pro knock off, it is a SJ cam SJ4000 it is good for the money. It came with everything for 99.00 dollars.
You should film some more, this is great footage. What headcam are you using?
Small World Scandle68.. I moved from Lubbock to Tucson in '81 and raced there until '83. I worked at Stovall's Yamaha in Lubbock during Shobert's early days doing set ups, taking out the garbage ect.. Your right about Canyon with the off cambers and general size - it looked a lot bigger back then! Great video - thanks for sharing.
I'm from Lubbock, Tx and I have fond memories of racing on that track once in the summer of 1980. We were in Phoenix visiting relatives and my dad hauled my bike and gear with us with the intent to race somewhere during our visit. I turned 12 years old while we were there and we found out about Canyon Raceway who was having races that weekend. I was one of the best 80cc motocross riders in my little area out here in west Texas and had a pretty hot little DG prepped Yamaha YZ 80. We showed up, signed up, and I raced against kids I had never seen on thar ultra hot Arizona August day. I did pretty well, but not like at home. Phoenix and the Valley were much bigger than where I was from, so the level of competition was higher.as I entered the "A" class or whatever it was called (the top 80cc class). I believe I was 6th or 7th. Right in that area. The gate was packed too. I remember dealing with good sized rocks on the track, which were a real bitch when you're on a small bike. I had never seen that on tracks in my area. Also it was very up, down, and with off camber turns. I was use to the flatter and simpler tracks I had grown up racing on in west Texas. It was tough. The heat was killer. There were some really fast boys there. A tough day, but fun and a fond memory.
Amazing was just ripping there a week ago. Broke my back and sprained my neck hitting a kicker out there awhile back..
Can you still rip over there now? Is that off gray hawk?
Yeah just keep it a little tame the cops will come out there once in a while. I've been riding there since I was a kid and we always say we're out of towners if the cops come!! Gnarly jumps out there dude. Rip safe
Looking good Suzuki Dave!
How neat is that? You have the whole place to yourself? I like the area and the conditions, be great on any bike! Thanks for the video! Mike XR.
