Harbor Freight 4x6 Bandsaw Power Switch Upgrade
I wanted a real start/stop/emergency stop switch on my bandsaw so I added one. Video covers the 3D printed cover for the existing switch box that holds a momentary contact SPST pushbutton switch to replace the stock stop switch function and the installation and wiring of a magnetic safety switch.
Apologies in advance for the audio issues. Lots of noise from my garage heater, and a failing wireless mic. I tried to balance the volume the best that I could.
Parts used:

I Straighten My Shaft - Part 3

Part three of a three-part series. It runs! And it doesn't shake my fillings loose any more! Part 1: th-cam.com/video/iDpk-kkBxL4/w-d-xo.html Part 2: th-cam.com/video/DMQbJvYly7o/w-d-xo.html Parts for said mower are actually found under another number on the Honda and other sites. Search for "HRR216K2SDAA" to find the right serial number range.

Part two of a now three-part series. Follow along with me as I plan, attempt, fail, then finally succeed in disassembling the blade on my 2003 Honda HRR2162SDA (S/N MZCG-6759144) lawnmower so I can actually get to the hard part of the repair: straightening the bent crankshaft. In this part, we use a piece of pipe to attempt [foreshadowing] to take the bend out of the crank. Part 1: th-cam.com/v...

Part one of a three-part saga. Do you know how professionals, like this guy (th-cam.com/video/w2Ro9GmEyOE/w-d-xo.html), make things look easy? The reality of the home shop is that they are NEVER that easy. There's a part of the linked video (at 2:44 - th-cam.com/video/w2Ro9GmEyOE/w-d-xo.html?t=164) that takes Steve 1.5 seconds. Yeah ... that took me almost 5 hours. So follow along with me as I ...

Part the second of my new Harbor Freight 4x6 Bandsaw saga wherein I put the new bandsaw on the old stand, wave some blurry old tools in front of the camera, and drop the one thing I was supposed to be careful with. What possessed me to buy a new bandsaw? A broken old bandsaw. We'll take a look at two generations of the iconic Harbor Freight 4 x 6 horizontal/vertical bandsaw and do some quick comparisons. This includes SKUs 93762 & 62377.
Maple Syrup Evaporator Update

5 years ago I made a maple syrup evaporator out of an old olive oil drum. It continues to perform well. This is an update that shows a couple of modifications I've made.

    Most of your energy input via viewed pipe is lost and wasted. The mower platform needs to absolutely immobilized ( thus being removed and stopped from robbing your effort)

    The blade holder died( bent terribly) because the two jaw puller was not the right tool for the job.

    At what point does the fix actually show up?

    I did it on mine, using the handle of a Conduit bender, took many tries, but got it close, enough that is. Hard job but saved rebuilding as I'd done before.

    Men make parts.. if unable to get them ...i have 40 - 50 year old Garden Tractors... most parts are Obsolete or hard to find...i build or make them as needed...not Rocket Science....parts are always a concern on older equipment/vehicles....but we deal with it... 🇨🇦🤓🤟

    Ebay sells alot of upgraded parts and modification parts for these 4x6 bandsaws to get them to something great to use..although the hydraulic feed down upgrade is very nice to have vs the original spring system the cost is too much at $200 for plug and play unit..

    Nov.5th 2022 the bandsaw retails for $369..but I got it for $314.99 with a 15% coupon..Horrible freight more or less sells kits of tools that require fitting and sorting out at home..they simply assembled it so the parts don't get lost in transport..1st step in building the kit is to disassemble it completely and replace every single nut, bolt, srew with actual steel hardware then flatten and square up all the castings..adjustment of every part during reassembly then the hour of fine tuning to get it cutting dime thin wafers square and consistent..this just part of the process of getting tools / equipment at half the cost as the next competitors products are often times basically the same but twice the cost with maybe 10 or 15 mins of extra labor to sort them out only slightly better..definitely appreciate the comparison between the two models..as I really wanted a green Taiwanese made model till watching this video plus the 20 to 30 yr old green ones are selling used for similar prices as the new red ones in my area unfortunately..

    I'm waiting on a 25% central machinery coupon to replace mine. Decided to go with a 7x12 but the price tag on the HF one is too much comparatively. The $1300 they want for it now is only a couple hundred less than many much nicer models.

    I have a hf bandsaw from 1988 im 4th owner of it. You can image the amount of metal its cut. The blade guide extentions are steel on it. The only real complaint i have about it is the motor and pulleys the pulley suck thin aluminum. The motor doesnt take long to hit therma switch and shut off. Other wise its kicking but restoring it now.

    After watching your video you left me confused. You seemed angry with harbor freight?? Did you finish setting up the saw? Is there an update??

      @AXNJXN1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Jussssst a bit of an angry person I'd agree with. Shop full of goodies and nothing but complaints.

    • @rhavasy
      @rhavasy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really angry. Loved the green saw that lasted for 16 years. A little disappointed with the red one, but was able to get it cutting perfectly fine. Just that overall quality has declined from what it was - but I guess that's to be expected with the price staying about the same.

      There is an update - recorded a couple weeks ago. Just haven't edited yet. Working fine and with an upgraded power switch.

    • @AXNJXN1
      @AXNJXN1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rhavasy I would digress, it’s not a bad little machine for the price. In actuality, the single most expensive ‘part’ is the motor! Those are practically the entire cost of the tool alone at an average of of $200-300 a piece commercially. Alternatively, nearly everything today has gone down in production quality. It’s a marketing construct. Lighter, smaller, ‘bearable’ and can it still work if we thin this material out? It’s just unfortunate that American engineering is all but gone and we’ve shifted 90+% of all manufacturing to Asian countries; and this is what we get for it. But I hear you!
