Hey! I play towers full of bells called carillons. I started learning in Chicago and am now based in the NYC area. I play concerts around the USA and Europe, so you can expect videos from each of those here!

You are very graceful, yet you are moving a large volume of weight! The 'tremolo' is quite effective! I am certain this is not easy! Kind regards for next year to you and yours :)
THAT LIGHTING!!! :) Great job and merry Christmas!
Fantastic playing I am enraptured
I think Merry-Go-Round of Life by Joe Hisaishi on this instrument would be so cool. But I don't know how well it would translate from piano.
There’s a recording here! th-cam.com/video/Vx71q6Y9eEo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7IuAfsY3klOU9AnO But you’re right it’s very beautiful! I’ll try to find time to learn it
@jmin.beiaardier thanks for the link. I just listened to it. And yeah, I would love to hear your version of it. Keep up the good stuff, man. Also, as a side note, how did you learn the Carillon is there like a small one that can be used to practice. I can't imagine trying to learn a new instrument so publicly, lol.
I learned when I was in college. There was a tower on our campus and a student group that played regularly. I studied with Joey Brink, if you've seen his stuff! A lot of carillons have a practice console closer to the ground floor, either electronic or tone bar/pipe. However, they're not weighted so in order to get a feel for the bells in a certain piece you have to practice on the real thing at some point. It's not as public as you think though! People can't see you, and vice versa, so you get used to being in your own little space.
@jmin.beiaardier that is very interesting. Thanks for the insight into such a unique instrument.
Beautiful!
Thank youuuu😍
Great video! Thank you, Joseph!
Esta es música, y quienes la tocan están muy felices..
Best thing since sliced bread!
Glad you enjoyed it! Bread is pretty good though 😋
Beautiful!
Woohoo!!
Wow! How do you get such clear audio, completely free of external noise like wind, etc? Just curious...
There's a system of mics placed throughout the tower at each belfry that allows for this more balanced sound. If you were to record the sound within the playing cabin, you'd end up with a bunch of humming and clanking noises from the instrument's mechanics and the general ambience of having lights and a computer fan in the same room. As for external wind noise, it just happened to be a sunny day without any traffic! With the way the louvres of the tower are set up, wind noise can actually be pretty loud even if it's just a little. Luckily that noise can't be heard if you're listening from the ground. If you're unlucky in your recording session you might hear some honking or a siren too
Sick jersey
what are you doing
