several points. the targa 996's are rare, but that does not mean valuable. The 996 targa's trade well under coupe's and cab's. The targa is not desirable at all and when that roof needs repairing, good luck! Also you say the 996 and 986 share the exact same interior and that is not true, the door cards are different, the center stack is different and the 986 only has a three dial instrument cluster while the 996 retains the 911 five dial cluster.

Your Boxster looks great! There's nothing wrong with making it your own (unless you stance the wheels 🤮 or misbadge 😡). Also, you wouldn't believe the cosmetic difference polishing those plastic headlights makes.

You dont need to worry about what others think. It’s your car. Enjoy it. But it is smart to keep original parts for next owner. In case they want them.

I’ve driven plenty of 911s and plenty of boxsters. The boxster corners better has the engine right behind you and in the case of the 986 Boxster is 98% 911. Hate it all you want but it’s one of the best sports cards ever made.

Don't sweat the negativity. Some people, are never happy, unless they are putting someone or something down. Enjoy the car, make it your own, and drive the piss out of it.

The black wheel are not an update. From 10 feet away, they look like steelies! Black wheels are outdated now. I bet that new exhaust drones. And getting rid of the airbag? Not smart!! Insurance will have a field day with you if you're ever in an accident, plus the old steering wheels look, OLD and outdated.

I had a 2011 speed3 back in the day. Fun car but it just burned so much oil and I didn't even have 50k miles on it. and they weren't really a good looking car. But it was fun to drive. Loved it when the turbo kicked in once you got on it. They should have kept making them. If made made an awd hatch model and made it look better and more reliable they would have made a lot of money.

Id say it all depends on if there is any damage to the subframe, excited to see what the future holds for this little speed 3. If totaled maybe something right hand drive from Duncan imports.

Have the 987S from late 06. She's a 3.4lt manual. Silver duco and black roof/interior. Wheels similar to yours (not the lobster claw). Fitted the Cayman R side stripe, very similar to yours and went the ducktail spoiler from a mob called Extreme Motorsports in the U.S. Easy fit and looks great. Love my Boxster. Road tripped it many times already with my partner, it's a perfect cruiser and nothing comes close on the twisty stuff. All you need do to yours is get in and drive! Enjoy!

Very nice. Well...I am old, have had almost 100 cars in my life. Have converted many cars to electric. Just bought my fourth Porsche....1998 986. I will say it might be my favorite Porsche I have owned. Handles better than my old 911s. You go guy with your new 986. Let's see what you got and what you are going to do!

Nice speed bro. Some other mods that I think would make your speed look clean are, CorkSport stubby antenna, CorkSport rear wiper delete, and CorkSport mud flaps. CorkSport has amazing products and great customer service if you have questions.

Hi Paul, You did an impressive repair job on the splitter. I agree with the others, black satin would be an attractive choice. Hopefully spring weather will arrive soon in Tennessee.

Satin black with maybe some kind of red accent would look pretty sweet.

pilot sports 4s for summer! currently doing an etuning with pd tuning and versatuner transforms the car and has the added benefit of giving better mpg over stock and OTS maps YMMV
