Living here is like being in geriatric high school. The area is beautiful but the people are awful. You spend most of your time driving off the mountain. There are no resources and getting anyone to do anything is virtually impossible.

Why are they selling?

lived here for about 20 years, if you have kids don't expect their futures to go far, there aren't any opportunities up here, they will likely turn to drug abuse, suicide or a life of crime. the place is starting to reek of stoners and home prices are sky rocketing.

This could be a family friendly place bc it's so nice. But there is excessive airbnb ownership. Some investors there own multiple homes, so that distorts the market and results in there not being any schools. I know there is technically one, but they merge three grade levels into one due to the lack of students. Shame bc I really like it .

As for the Internet, GOOD LUCK Zito is the only option and it's the worst experience we've ever had for service. HOA fees are insane. The new plan for a clubhouse rebuild has not been voted on by the members that "are the committee".! The worst most dangerous place in the country to shop is Bakersfield, so save yourself and go to Santa Clarita instead. There's no work up there at all for anyone that needs a job and the market is the most expensive place to shop in California. Take it from someone that actually owns a home there. Thank God we were able to rent it out long term. As for the wildlife, HAAAA. James Wienstock feeds the bears, I've watched him do it. He's the guy that looks like Einstein and lives by the dog park in the trailer trash area of the community. The bears are everywhere and are the scariest animal in town. The rip doors open to get in. They even ripped the shingles and plywood off the aide of a house to get in but when that was too small of a hole the bear went to the front door and ripped it off the hinges. Not to mention the cougars and coyotes hunting the small dogs in the neighborhood. The family of rednecks with 7 kids that like to shoot bears with arrows are somethin' else. And when the HOA decides to redo the streets, watch out for rocks on your windshield. The company will not pay for it. I made a claim and they denied it. I built a fence to keep the dogs safe and close to the house. HOA hit us with a fine and I had to redo the fence woth a 2" gap between all the boards. When I approached Joe at Hoa regarding this, i told him that I know why hes doing this, its so you can see all the shit in everyone's backyards. He turned ghost white and shrugged his shoulders. Lets move on to the Water company amd the fees. Mil Potrero water company raised the minimum fee to $160. We use $20 in water and this fee is absolutely insane and illegal for a private water company to gowge everyone like this. I've filed a complaint with other friends in town to the county/state for this violation of fees. Still waiting on an update from them, a year later. If you want to risk living here, by all means buy up...!

I have been looking at moving to Pine Mountain Club for about 3 years, so I've been following the real estate in the area very closely. I and I noticed that the HOA fee has changed from $1,780 a year ago, to $3,248 per anum. That's an 82% increase over a one year period. It smacks of corruption.

How does it work with school for your kids? From what I see there is no school nearby and no real grocery stores. And the entire town is a complete HOA town?

Yes this area is going to be booming...Keep in mind California High Speed Rail will be here in about five year...this is going to change the whole area.

Absolutely amazing house, for anyone interested in living there. I lived in San Diego for 6 years, and traveled to many areas of California. Big Bear Lake, King's Canyon, Sequoia National Park, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc. I just couldn't live there anymore. The weather, scenery, etc. is the best in the world, IMHO, but the politics and me, just don't mix well. Maybe if it broke into several smaller states, I could move back there.
