O Scale Coal Load: Make the plastic look way better
Although many o-scale coal hoppers come with a plastic coal load, many times these aren't as realistic as we would like. The same goes for coal tenders on more entry level or older style locomotives. I offer here a DIY, easy, low-cost enhancement of the plastic coal detail. Have fun!

Lionel Southern Freight Set with Legacy GP-7

Simple review and running of the Lionel Southern Freight Set (2122030). Pardon the length of the video, but I do discuss all parts of the set and some extra cars I added from the same catalog. There is considerable content where I'm just running the train. To be honest, used the opportunity to test some camera angles and editing tools. Hope you enjoy! Piedmont Central Railroad Visits Tweetsie Railroad

Took the family to Tweetsie Railroad. Great example of a steam powered locomotive. I didn't film the live show. It was ok, but I got the feeling the actors were improvising much of it. This video is really just a sampling and I focus almost entirely on the train. Other rides are available and included in admission. There is a bit of the petting zoo at the end of the video. @PeytonC09 It is first come, first serve at NCTM for every train ride they do. I've been going there for years and had no idea! I think it was an additional $25-$50 or so for the cab ride (for the two of us). They usually have 2-3 rides per day, so if you miss out on one, you can reserve another. Reservations are only for that day, and you must be present to reserve it. I hope you get the chance! It really was a special day.

      Can you tell me what minute on the video that happened? I do not recall at any point when we were actually moving that he left his seat. There was a point where we switched back to forward from reverse...it may have been then, but we were at a full stop.

      You are right! I wish I knew the specifics, but I think there is something back there he needs to do when changing direction. As you are a real engineer, I'm sure you know more than I do about these things. I do know there is a crew member in the caboose with a radio when moving backwards so not completely blind to pending issues on track. I do remember now wanting to ask what he did back there but needed to respect the instructions not to talk to him while operating

    • @PiedmontCentralRailroad
      @PiedmontCentralRailroad 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At minute 19 he didn't have to go to back when going from forward to backward so that throws off my whole theory.😄

      @@PiedmontCentralRailroad I'm no certified enginenmen. But yeah, it's sort of a head scratcher on why he got up from his seat. If there was an emergency, a few seconds like that could be catastrophic. That's the first time I've ever seen an engineer get up from his seat to go back to the engine compartment while the locomotive was in motion. I was just very surprised to see that. 😮
