Looks like a lot of the problems were fixed! Yay! Just as we get into the swing of this whole "Death" thing, we face our toughest choices yet. Also, we're hearing voices?! I need to speak to HR.
My First Let's Play! | Death and Taxes: Part 1
มุมมอง 154 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi, friends! Thanks for joining my first ever "let's play"! So... I'm still figuring stuff out, and my video gets pretty choppy in some parts, but I'm already taking steps to fix that for the next video. The audio is fine and stays pretty consistent, though. Enjoy the game, and be excellent in the comments. Trial and error, as it were.

I reflect on my content on TH-cam, and wish to return to regular uploading, putting forward the idea of Progressive Play. Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
Stopping the Silence

In remembrance of my hero, Robin Williams, I decided to open up about my own struggle with depression. I am hoping others will take a stand, and share their struggle. No one should suffer alone. I know the quality of this video isn't the best, but I hope it conveys my message anyway.

Same-Sex Marriage in Maryland . . . What does it mean?
I enjoy #absolutetabletop and glad to see Matt, and friends, achievements. I remember your gaming videos from way back and enjoyed this recorded stream. Thanks for sharing!
I love the clay tablet displayed from 4:48-8:13. Can you tell more about it? Who created it, etc? Thanks!
CONTENT!!! :)
Excellent video, Aaron!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. :)
Can't wait to see what you have in store for us, Aaron. It'll be good having regular videos from you in my sub feed again.
I'm glad you're planning to make more videos, Aaron. I find you to be a thoughtful and intelligent guy so I'd watch pretty much anything you create, but this series in particular would be interesting because there simply aren't many people talking about it that I've seen. Looking forward to it.
I appreciate the kind words and the interest. I am definitely going forward with this idea. Thank you!
Now you'd better run an adventure pal!
Fun unboxing, Aaron. Thanks! I hope you enjoy it~
Age in Essentials is just the default Age option with the default array of points earned by being that age. You didn't miss anything, but I don't think the text implies Essentials offers more age options. There are 5 age bands in RQ with associated effects and points given for being older...and older...
On Age: in RQ this is on page 48, after the professions and before the Bonus Skill Points and Starting Equipment sections. I will check Essentials when I get home. Nice to see Barnabas Kragbury spring to life before our eyes and to see how well you worked with the rules for the first time. Good show~
On skill values: RQ uses difficulty grades which modify chances for success so scores in the 40 to 50 range are not bad for typical problems or occasional challenges. Like BRP rolls are only made when we are not dealing with routine actions. For competitive situations rolls are opposed or differential, where the level of success vs another person has an effect. As a result, it is in skills where you will go head to head vs someone that you might consider placing a larger grouping of points or adding to that skill more than once - if you see them being notable in that skill.
On skills: You can select the same skill more than once as you go through the different sources of exposure and training. You certainly don't have to. Each selection has its cap of percentage points which can be added at that time.
Thanks for sharing the whole imaginative process. That's getting in the spirit of things~

My response video where I share my personal struggles with depression th-cam.com/video/NSg-6sMxSFg/w-d-xo.html
thanks for the video.. “Keep passing the open windows.”
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. And you are most welcome.
Making this video was very courageous of you and has inspired me to make a response video to this talking about my own experiences with depression. Hopefully by getting this stuff out in the open, others will know that they are not alone in their struggles!
I am glad you got something from it!
Aww yeah! See me on air
Thank you so much for your support and kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for doing your part to bring this subject to light. As a straight man, with a few gay friends, I am outraged at how people can ignore the plight of other fellow human beings. I am offended for my friends that people can just let bullying and discrimination occur in this day and age. You sir are awesome for fighting the good fight.
I always thought it was pronounced "bah-relief," with a silent "s." I hope you start these up again soon.
In any game played with me people are welcome to play any sex, gender, or sexuality they wish, I don't see the sense in everyone in every race being straight as is often presumed, that's just plain unrealistic to think. I'm a Pansexual, so I could more easily and less akwardly play gay and bi men and women in RPGs, though so far I haven't made one, and I'm probably going to play a lesbian as I enjoy playing female characters.
I'm straight and I have played with straights, bisexuals, transgenders, homosexuals of all kinds^^ As a matter of fact, two players in one of my campaigns choose to chance their sex that same year (or rather, did come to turns with it during that time or earlier). The only thing I regret about all that is that as a ST I kind of suck at playing the different sexuality other then straight, but that is something I'm working on.
Speaking non sequentially right now , but still on topic, one of our players just sold her ass, 4 hours of sex with the bartender for a couple hundred gold pieces and some mundane information in our last game.
Cool idea! It makes the stakes so much more personal than, say, finding some shiny, golden artifact that will help defeat some magical bad guy in a world that the players cannot relate to.
There are two series that I am really looking forward to this Spring: Game of Thrones season three, and that.
Now THAT'S a title. Thank you, kindly!
I really want to get that book. Then again, I have never had issue with homebrewing sexuality and sexual practices in my games. I don't believe in penis envy, but I do believe females tend to be more mature and open about sex and how it works, and are more open to homosexuality in general.
LeGuin is a favorite of mine. Good reference.
I agree. We all have the ability to sleep with either gender. The key is, which do you derive the most pleasure from, and what makes you feel fulfilled as a person.
Scary to think about a setting in which only hugging and kissing exists . . . Excuse me while I make a sanity roll.
Exactly! I find the majority of people who take issue with homosexuals have never actually met one in their life, so they don't see them as human, just an idea with their own preconceived notions.
yeah, others have said this... but she is a weird one... next one I play may conform to the more typical behaviours.
I am currently writing something similar to this. I love how adding that little cultural caveat can add so much more complexity and depth to feudalism and noble marriage.
That was a great video! I think adding the possibility of same-sex marriage to the old medieval system of marriage, especially amongst the feudal nobility, would add so much more depth and complexity to the process. One of the many projects I many projects I am working on is a fantasy story (maybe novel), and I am looking into adding that bit of complexity I mentioned.
You had me at "bisexual werepanther wizard." An yes, Jack Harkness is a personal favorite of mine, as well.
I always saw gnomes as randy buggers, but to each his own.
I would SO join a seminary if singing show tunes was a vow. See, you could even incorporate THAT in your fantasy settings.
Oh yes, I am aware. Some believe that the use of the word "faggot" as an insult originated from the Albigensian Crusade, as there was plenty of stake-burning in that. Some people believe they have found evidence of same-sex marriages arranged in the middle ages as a way of combining property. Not saying this was common, and the jury's still out on the evidence, but interesting to think about.
The series shall continue! I would love to see a video about the ins-and-outs (giggity) of sexuality in your worlds. Sounds fascinating.
I have heard of The Steel Remains. I need to give it a look-see.
Sweet! Glad you found my little corner of the internet. Always happy to see other gaymers out there. ;)
OMG another Gaymer ^_^ i thought i was the only one ... well not really i run a group with 2 other gay men and a bi guy :D
Hehehe awesome intro. My opinion is in the group because 500 characters are just too low
I have only recently played in fantasy settings. I am playing one character who is sort of asexual... she doesn't have any drives towards people of a sexual nature, I feel if she meets whomever the right person is that will change but until then she has other things she is more bothered about. could be a gnome thing? anyway... am also playing a straight girl and a lesbian/bi? woman...
The last pathfinder world I designed myself when players asked I made it clear that homosexuality wasn't seen with any kind of stigma except in one respect. Noble houses wanted their children to have heirs who were their descendants. Certain individuals had adopted wards but this wasn't prefered. This was more to do with noble status, as characters both male and female began to be pressured by their families and the court into getting married with suitable nobles of other families.
Ive found typically a lot of gay players play the opposite gender for some reason, but they arent cross-dressers or gender-switchers. Was kinda strange. I wonder if they were concerned I wouldnt let them have a romance of the same gender.
Ive always used the Book of Erotic fantasy as my guide for sexuality on my games. Such an interesting take on the races in a book most people considered smutt. I strongly suggest checking it out, fantastic world building stuff (Halfling kama sutra, anyone?). Ive found when I play gay characters that most male GMs play up the humor, while female GMs get more into it. Wonder if they're self-inserting a little penis envy? xD
I recommend (as always) the writing of Ursula LeGuin, especially the Earthsea series. Sexuality is present but sublimated, straight and gay (as in Tolkien). That's the way I play it in D&D.
In my world sex is bought and sold, but it's only there if the players want to go there. I believe, as a game master, it's my job to leave every option open to a player like one would have in real life. However, a 1950's version (Ricky & Lucy in separate beds) of desire and love where only kissing, hugging and romance exists, would be challenging but interesting for a short term game.
