    You generalise these two sects far to much in your analysis. The thing with Islam is that it does not have a centralised authority like the Catholic Church does (Pope). Therefore, what political leaders do are not a representation of what Islam is, even if they were caliphs or sultans, both of which are political terms. Simmilar to today whereby Saudi, who happens to have am majority Muslim country and Iran who happens to have a majority Shiite country are not the representation of Sunni vs Islam, but rather Suadi vs Iran; 2 states competing for dominance. The usage of religion is a mere powerplay to gain support but it is not a defining factor.

    • @HiddenPapyrus
      @HiddenPapyrus 12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Centralized authority?! What is a caliph then? Islamic law stresses that a obeying a caliph is an Islamic duty? And as far as I know the Ottoman sultan was the Sunni caliph... As for the Shias they have no choice but to obey the shah as living under any Sunni caliphate is basically a death sentance

    • @NassaKB
      @NassaKB 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @HiddenPapyrus The caliph was not a centralised religious authority. He had political authority and at times attempted to seek religious authority but would find backlash from "ahl al sunna wa al-jamma" (the scholars and jurists). The caliph however was a political authority. This terminology is in regards to the Umayyad and after. The rashidun were mostly called "Amir al-Mu'manin" (Leader of the believers) since they embodied both religious and political authority. The Ottomans were definitely NOT caliphs. No one called them caliphs, they called them Sultans. They used the term caliph within their boarders to prevent the possibility of any other person claiming such. Obeying the "caliph" is not in islamic jurisprudence. What is however is that you shouldnt riase your swords aginst a "khalifa" (meaning ruler, of any kind, including fathers, teachers, or governors) so not to cause bloodshed. This in itself is a broader debate.

    Interesting. Black America must drive racial codification to unify African tribes and clans, while Africa must ignite tribal pride in Black American gangs to move beyond civil rights struggles and claim sovereignty. A #BlackCentric Sovereignty Alliance (BSA) or similar entity will emerge as a global unification force, strengthening ties between African and Black American communities for power and self-determination.

    Resistance to slavery was much older in Europe. Many nations did not allow slavery in their home country since the late Middle Ages. But confronted with the existing slavery across oceans and the native Americans dying from European diseases, they decided on double standards. It did not spread from Europe like their ships, trade, culture and technology did. The Dutch calvinists that founded the WIC also believed that alll people were children of god and slavery was a nasty practice of the evil catholics, and in the Dutch Republic itself everybody was free by law, including the blacks living there. But in the late 1630s the more morally flexible calvinists had taken over and had come up with the sons of Ham myth for the biblical excuse, basically to be able to keep the plantation colonies captured from the Portuguese running. The British didn't like slavery at home either, but to change existing systems you need indeed an economic and geopolitical window of opportunity that only came at the height of the British Empire's power.

      The prototype for the Atlantic slave trade was the islands of Macaronesia: the Portuguese discovered the Azores, Madeira and Cape Verde islands, while the Spaniards colonized the Canary Islands. In all those cases, the colonizers turned to an imported African slave workforce because the indigenous population was either very small (the Canary Islands) or entirely nonexistent (the other cases).

    I like the spirit of this video, but the conclusion that the world is closed “that” chapter on slavery because of Britain’s leadership is plain wrong. To not mention the ultimate catalyst: the Haitian revolution - and its impact on Britain’s decision to ‘LEAN’ into abolishing slavery is a big gap in your video. Keep in mind, after the French’s initial defeat by Haitians, Britain tried to take the island only to be defeated as well. Then they pivoted to this supposed moral high ground. It’s the Haitian revolution that was the catalyst of ending slavery, not Britain. Britain’s attitude was classic: “if you can’t beat em’- join em’ “.

      @@HiddenPapyrus the cross pollination of these various events is indeed challenging to cover. My suggestion is to drop little clues that can be used to point viewers to another video that will cover that little clue in a more full manner. The notion that Britain sought to abolish slavery out of the kindness of their hearts or purely economic reasons just didn't sit well at all. Except for the very costly slave revolts, it was perfectly economical, and beat the notion of expending capital to build the infrastructure that ushered in the industrial revolution. Had the slave revolts never happened (along with the high price tag of maintaining control), the colonial powers would have never had to find other means to replace the slave labor. There are multiple other channels who did it better, your ai images don't really make sense. This format can work though for short history bites, I would leave out the weird text boxes

      @@rubenheymans1988 yea I just started uploading 2 weeks ago and so yes countless other channels have better quality videos... The whole idea of my channel is to create small videos that introduce historical events that are not as well known as other major events such as WW1 and 2... I thought I'd create the videos in a style similar to comics... But tbh I've gotten some mixed feedback regarding this anyways thanks for watching!

    Decent video but there are also alot of other historians that visited the city during the golden age. I'm surprised you didn't mention Ibn Khaldun

      Yes I agree... But i try to make my videos about 5 minutes long... Adding all historians that visited the city would be impossible... Thank you for supporting the channel!

      Well this video is informative/ educational... Not to depict him in a good picture everyone knows the guy unalived many and enslaved even more... It's just that this battle took so long in comparison to his other battles... 7 months to take on a small city island is insane.... What's even more interesting is how he did it... Anyways I hope you enjoyed the video 😊😊

    Good video Hidden Papyrus but it would be nice if you could use music that fits with the setting of the video instead of using celtic music in the background as it doesn't really fit with the topic you are discussing.

      Thank you for the support! I agree with you 100 percent... The issues is copyright use... I originally had appropriate background music but unfortunately I didn't know that I couldn't use it... I usually get the background music from pixabay but if you know a free alternative website to get copyright-free music please let me know🙂

    So what doesn't Jamaican patois have any elements of African languages?

    • @HiddenPapyrus
      @HiddenPapyrus 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No of course it did play a role in the war, it created a way in which they could communicate in secret but with the enslaved Africans and captured rebels the British were able to crack much of their messages even with the continued linguistic revolution of the patois. I apologize for not including it in the video but the video's length was getting quite long as most of my videos are under 5 minutes while the maroon wars was 7 and a half. Anyways I appreciate the support and I hope this video created an introduction for an important event in the history of Jamaica. Anyways I appreciate your support and I hope you enjoyed the video🙂

    Jesus Christ has died and risen again so that everyone that believes in Him might be saved. We are to repent of our sins and believe in Him so that we may have salvation after death. Read the New Testament of the Bible for more information.
