Tiny Home Bus Gets Slat Ceiling
มุมมอง 38011 หลายเดือนก่อน
Taking a challenge from our architect and friend Chava we decided to learn how to build a slat ceiling for Cappella Bus starting from the small driving area. Not super hard work but very tedious with tons of measurements, cutting, sanding and finishing. For the ceiling finish we are using clear water based polyurethane.
Leather Wrapping Top Compartment For Bus Conversion
มุมมอง 51511 หลายเดือนก่อน
We built a top compartment to house the air tanks and wrapped it in leather not just for the looks but also to minimize the risk of us getting hurt in case we bump our heads against it. The height of the driving area of the bus gets shorter than the rest so we thought it would be a good idea to change things up a bit in that area.

BEAUTIFUL! Wow. I didn’t expect this. Was looking for Gillig conversions, as I’m considering buying one, and came across your video when you bought it, so this is only my 2nd one of yours to watch. But WOW!
Thanks 😊 did you get your bus already? We have a dedicated Gillig Conversion group on FB, hit us up on IG and I will send you the link 😉
@@CappellaBus Thanks, I will! No bus yet. I’m poor. 😂 Just a clear image in my head of exactly what I want. Wish there was a reality show that would pay me to build it. hahaha Found a beautiful one in CO but the people listing it are 🚩🚩🚩so i’m holding back.
yo you guys seem cool, keep it up
Thanks for watching!
For the first time I am confused... whats with the sink in the walkway? Actually I don't get the bed thingy either? I like the roll out closets but why not built-in? Curiosity overflowing. I guess we will find out soon enough. Thanks for sharing.
All good question lol A lot of this work isn’t done yet. The bed platform is temporary since the lift will have to wait for some heavy duty metal work. For now we placed some plywood there to hold the bed that’s also a folding bed. The sink is right outside the bathroom, kind of a vanity area so the shower and toilet are separated. Closets will be sliding because we would loose a lot of space with drawers. The space is really deep but not too wide. We should definitely post soon the 3D renderings to keep all this plan in mind. Thank you for following us along 🤜🤛
Looking great
Looking good!
Great job
I don’t understand what the electronic valves are for??
You need an electric drill. You are making harder than it has to be
Why it was not in the way
great job as always. where did you buy the steering wheel?
Got it online, one of those big rig stores, I think it was Big Rig Chrome Shop 😉
amazing job guys. I Love it
Can you do a video on your mini split and what made you pick that one thinking of doing a mini split on my bus conversion but looking at doing a dual head unit
The mini split project is half done and I will get back to it soon. We choose this one because I’m having a 220v system anyway, most people do the single head because is 110v. Do you have a TH-cam channel for the build?
I don’t have a TH-cam channel, but I am going to start one a little nervous about it. I have a 1997 MCI 102DL3 custom Coach conversion that I am going to be modifying and retrofitting for my families needs. It currently has a lot of outdated non-efficiency systems and I’ve been watching your build and I’m going to follow some of the same ideas that you have, I think I’m going to go for a 24 V battery bank and I’m looking at a dual head unit mini split that runs off of 220 or 240
Beautiful job!
Looking great, guys! Can't wait to see the end product!
Looking forward to the reveal. Coming along great.
Looking good! So excited to continue to see your progress 🎉
Thank you!! 😊
I thought for sure you finished it and were out on some adventure. So glad we get to see the end results.
Haha a bit far from finishing still 😅 Feels good to be back at it.
Amazing its been nearly a year since I've watched hope the bus results to be a great project.
great job! I love the way you work as a couple.
Thanks! She’s the best!
How’s it coming along so far?? 🚍👍🏻
Still kicking and screaming lol New videos are coming soon!
Can you give us the auction name or was just random cos i would love to have one of those buses
It was from a random google search that we landed on, I know there are several online auction sites that transit agencies use. If I remember correctly it was Govdeals for this one. Good luck for you!
Might suggest adding a bit of butyl or other caulk/sealer between the receptacle and the exterior surface.
Good call, I think overtime the rubber gasket will fail. One more maintenance item lol
I like how you even reused those spring loaded cams from the bus seat and tracks for the water heater mounting.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Normally I only like being in the drivers seat but on your bus that passenger area looks really inviting. I'm going to google that material you used for the top, looks promising.
Thanks for watching as always 🙏🏼 Happy holidays!
Been following your build. Great job. My question is on the removing the wiring from the black box behind the drivers seat. I have been dreading that for months any tip?
Yeah, that’s always nerve racking! I did follow the wires from there to the other end one by one and went removing them carefully. One thing I can say is to test if the bus is working normally after each removal. This way if you get something wrong you know exactly what was it and can easily fix it. Check us out on IG and send a DM if you need more help. Good luck with your conversion too!
I wish I saw your comment two days ago. I did completely the opposite, ripped all of them now I have three warning lights lol. I have no idea which is which. (Check 12v, high voltage system, low voltage system.) interior lights not switching on😊
Loving your project!
Thanks so much!
Great job
Thanks buddy!
Very exciting.... must be starting to feel like a motorhome.
Finishing the front gave us a great idea on how everything else will feel!
Most of San Jose's city bus fleet is Gillig with a manufacture date of 2001. Absolutely shameful.
Bus load of fun😮😅😊
So much shoulder work 😂
great idea.
Thanks for watching!
Great video! Did the Installing 2 diesel heater on the bus part 2 got retitled or there is a part 2 hidden? The next video after this one is diesel heater line install.
We were waiting on the winter for the final testing because it was 100+ degrees Fahrenheit around here 😂 Next one is coming soon! Thank you for watching!
Great job 👏 looking forward to your next task 👍 🇦🇺🦘🐨
Okay, testing testing testing. Lets see if this message stays up.
😂😂😂
Well it looks like it was just a glitch in the matrix. @@CappellaBus
How fast can it go? You think if its speed limited you could mod it to go faster?
It goes around 70-75mph on the highway, at least that’s what I got driving it from Texas to California. I don’t think you wanna go faster than that anyway 👀
@@CappellaBus thanks for responding. That's plenty fast. Lots of these things max out at 55.
I have a question. Where can I contact you?

I love the slatting and I am looking forward to watching the next project. Amazing job guys.
Thanks so much!

Thanks for watching!
Good morning from Australia, that slatting looks absolutely outstanding, it really adds that extra grest details to the build, good luck with the rest of the project, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👌👍👌👍👌👍
So much work but we loved it too! Can’t wait to get the rest of the bus ceiling done.
Whats up with the comments, this is the second video where the comments have been scrubbed?
We had no idea! I will look into it, it’s YT throwing bad AI algorithm for sure. Thanks for letting us know 🙏🏼
It's all taking shape now 👍you are getting closer to the end 😊 🐨🦘🇦🇺
Thanks for coming along with us in this journey! We are happy to see some progress! ❤
You two make a great team, the use of those toggle clamp closures was a great idea. It's like Jurassic Park, "no expense spared". No doubt with a better ending😁
Thanks again! We found the locks on Amazon for half the price of the “original” thing 😉
Hi guys, the bus is looking great, you ars both working extremely hard on this project, hope it all goes well, best regards from Australia 👌👍👌👍👌☺
Thanks for watching 🤩
Amazing.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thats nice, going to keep that product in mind for myself.
Now that is looking vety fancy, I hope the rest of the bus will be as nice, great work guys, best regards from Australia 👌👍👌👍👌👍
