    I wanna have 617 format camera with total mechnical system . As I know, Fuji GX617 need a battery which powers shutter system. but someone says "electeronical thing in shutter just plays a small part. so even when battery is gone out, shutter can be released by connecting release cable with lens" Can anybody tell me about what kinda funtion electronic parts in shutter system do ?

    • @gunadwi9177
      @gunadwi9177 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That electronic shutter is from the body near winding lever maybe it design for handheld use, you always can use mechanical shutter from the lens with cable release or just push the shutter lever on the lens

    I wondered how you attached the Lee filters to this camera with the ND filter. With practice I should be able to get the graduated filter in the correct spot. thanks for the tip. And the bulldog clip is perfect for a Brit work around (like gaffer tape for a yank).

    Some great shots using this camera. I just bought the cheaper G617 with the 105 mm lens. I would have liked to see some details of camera setting and film used with some of the images in bright sun, golden hour and sun rise to get an idea of shutter speeds used. Did you use any additional filters?

      @leemetcalfephotography7849 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Glen. Mostly taken on Fuji Velvia 50, with the odd Kodak Ektar. I use soft grads when needed. Metering I used a sekonic 608 spot meter, I usually average a scene out for my base exposure then bracket when using slide film, using 3rd stops .I have a video on how I meter and how I bracket etc on this page.

    How did you get on with focusing? I guess for landscape you only needed to set for infinity or hyperlocal distance and expose for the results you wanted. Have you found that using the distance scale on the camera works well or have you any comments on focusing. Lovely results.

  • @alfredv9902
    @alfredv9902 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I disagree with your focus compensation. Your aperture is f32, so leave it at that. However, by moving from f32 to f45 on your hyperfocal scale, your focus line has moved from just over 5 ft to now just under 5 ft. So you are focusing closer, and losing sharpness at infinity. I consider it important to maintain infinity (mountains, etc...tack sharp). So you should move not to f45, but rather 1 stop the other way to f22. This way your moving focus a bit closer to infinity, and it will be a bit sharper. For the near, little change occurs, so it is infinity that we worry about being sharp. The hyperfocal scales are calculated for 8x10 print size (on all cameras and formats), so for 30x40 prints, you need to adjust your circle of confusion calculation, or more simply, just focus a bit more toward infinity by 1.5 stop approx. Your then good for huge prints.

    Well Lee very interesting, I have a GX617 with a 90mm lens and I was wondering about the exposure with the center filter. I did an experiment, I put the Fuji center filter on my digital camera in spot metering mode and I found the filter causes a 1(one) stop reduction in light. No idea why Fuji says to allow 2 stops of compensation. Good pick up. I will now change the way I shoot with it, I thought my B&W”s we're a bit overexposed.

The majestic music really complements the video. Looking at where you have been and the effort of producing all these lovely images, I wish you success.

    I recently picked up a GX617/90mm/180mm for a great price from someone who was going 100% digital. Cant wait to use it. Your videos are fantastically educational. The next thing I need to get is a good light meter, I have a Sekonic 358 however it doesn't have a spot meter function and the attachment spot is expensive, rare and 5 degrees which is pretty useless.

    Wonderful work! I have just acquired a GX617, and if I can produce something a fraction as good as these I will be very happy. As an aside, the adagio really is a devastating piece of music, isn't it? First time I've heard it in years and I am quite choked up.
