    I'm just curious, what do the old-fashioned martial artists think of tricking? and what do trickers think of labels like "mcdojo" or "mcdojang" or "belt mill"? tricking may be a huge deviation from the martial arts, but i know for sure that moves like the 540 are from taekwondo, butterfly twist is from wushu, and double leg is from capoeira, and those are legitimate martial arts. there may be mcdojos teaching tricking, but the only thing separating a mcdojo from a legit martial arts school is not the technique/move, but how one uses it

    • @AnimaPins
      @AnimaPins 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll share my opinion with you, since you'd asked. I've been practicing martial arts for around 15 years now, with emphasis on Taekwondo. I can say that martial arts are meant to protect you against violent attack. Regardless of what anyone believes, this is the main (but not necessarily sole) purpose. To achieve viability in combat you'll need to know 2 things: how to damage, and how to mitigate damage. Technique is simply a "guidebook" to these things. Good technique will not protect you, it will only provide you the knowledge you need to protect yourself. That is to say, people have protected themselves with terrible technique AND people have used great technique and been beaten. In a fight, for example, I'm not going to try to perform some kind of 720 spinning flying kick and knock someone out, because all they need to do is step towards me and push me out of the air and I fall and injure myself. It would be even more foolish if they were armed with a weapon of some sort. Metaphorically speaking, I know Algebra and how often do I use it? I use basic addition and subtraction on a daily basis. I wouldn't try to use Algebra to solve 9+7. In a fight I'm using my tried and true side kicks, front kicks, round kicks perhaps (speaking only of kicks), and if none of those seem to be working I may perform a more advanced technique or combination. If your life is in danger you don't throw your side kick the way you may throw it in a class or sparring session, you throw it to kill. You throw the kick with the intent and power to smash internal organs and hopefully shut down your opponent's body. When you take a knife to your gut, hopefully you've trained up your pain tolerance enough to where you can get the job done regardless. Hopefully, when you get punched in the head you don't grab it and start rolling around in pain. When it comes to protecting your own life, if you aren't dead yet, you're just fine and you can still fight. Tricking, I believe, is a fun and interesting "sport" (I don't do it) that involves movements from many different martial arts. But there is a big difference in learning to recite mathematical formula and actually being able to use them. That is to say, not all black belts are good. Not all 5th dan or 7th degree, what have you, martial artists truly understand the basic principles of combat. There are no points to be scored in a fight for your life. Your body is filled with blood and with organs and they can both be spilled out in front of you if you don't take that kind of thing seriously. I have nothing against tricking, but I felt to need to distinguish the differences between tricking and REAL martial arts. If someone believes they're skilled enough in combat because they can throw their legs out, perform techniques and flip around they're going to be wondering what happened when they try a fancy move, lose balance and end with one ground with some guy sitting on them beating the back of their skull in. So please, for those people, don't overestimate your ability or falsely assume you have the ability to protect yourself. You trick, so don't try to fight anyone. I fight, so I don't try to win at basketball. Basketball players play basketball, so they don't try to sculpt artwork. Thank you : ) That is all.

      Cosmic Cheese - Pokemon & More! are you allow to go down to the taekondo center and beat people up in sparring? seems like a good way to get some easy targets. i mean can i just shin kick one of those guys in the head as hard as i can or will i just get kicked out or paired with the best fighters in the center? i mean i did beat a teakowdo black belt when i was white and i know 99% of them are very easy targets so dont bullshit. i'll shin kick ash ketchum aswell but oh no not misty i liked her when i was young.

    It pisses me off when I read questions that were answered in the actual video. I've been tricking for a solid 3 1/2 years now, starting with literally two couch pillows and a electrical box in my side yard, so don't give excuses as to why you're unable to trick do to whatever excuse you may think of, if you're determined enough go out and do it, you never know you may find it to be your passion in life :]
