I didn't complain about the show adding different races to the cast, I said it makes no sense having different races in a small tribe of people from the same continent, they should all be the same regardless of race. If you don't care about the show making sense, if you believe there should be no rules to fantasy and that being true to what Tolkien wrote isn't important, that's fine, but what's wrong with the people that do care about those things? You can call everyone racist and sexist and pat yourself on the back and tell yourself how right you are, but at the end of the day, I'm not racist and the choice the show made will still make no sense and it still won't be "Tolkien".

You can't just say it's fiction so it never matters, how do you portray a specific race of people separate and different from another race in fiction if you have to tick quota boxes and make every group of people all different races? I made a specific point about the Hobbits in the show, I didn't talk about any other casting choices. I'm talking about how to best represent a specific race of people, not an individual person in a modern multicultural city. The Hobbits have specific traits that need to be addressed, they're a small tribe of people that come from a particular place, a people that are so shy that nobody else in Middle Earth had even heard of them until the third age, if the show had made them all black it would have been a much better choice and made more sense than having one or two black hobbits, where did the completely different Hobbit races come from, how did they get together? What will the small tribe of Hobbits look like after a few generations of keeping to themselves, mostly homogeneous? Tolkien described the Hobbits as a homogeneous looking people with the same features and traits for a reason, they come from the same place and they keep to themselves. People keep saying "it's fiction" or "its fantasy" as if to say these things don't matter and then call everyone racist for mentioning it. It's not racist to expect a show to make sense, even fantasy. Every fantasy has it's own internal logic that it needs to be faithful to, some are more detailed and more involved than others.

I move a lot and don’t stay in tune with American politics. I didn’t even know about the diversity casting till I watched the first episode, and it didn’t bother me at all. I started watching the series with so much excitement. However, being fan and knowing the books, I thought something was off and did some research and discovered this American political mess, where you can’t say anything without being attacked (just like how you have attacked and are trying to hurt me with insults in your reply). I’m starting to understand why nothing ever gets accomplished in your country, because you all are so divided and all you do is cruelly attack each other, without even trying to have a conversation and find common ground. I didn’t even know this childish behavior was going on with other Tolkien movies before this. It’s all ridiculous; however, I think a lot of people feel like I do and that’s why this happening, and it’s truly sad that people like you attack anyone who says something you dont agree with. Sorry my friend, but only a hater sees the world in black and white and judges people who don’t agree with their own opinion. However, there are so many shades of grey in between. Please try not to hate on others who have a different opinion than your own. Wish you the best 🙏

Also, just wanted to add that I have two degrees one in Social Work and another in Psychology, and one of these degrees I attained attending Christ College in Bangalore, India. IF ONLY you watched this video and realized i have criticized amazon, i did talk about galadriel in rop, i did talk about diversity and hiding behind criticism by calling people racists, i did talk about lore and how and why it's not one to one, I did talk about the imperfections and valid criticism of this show... but you keep tryna virtue signal and shit of how criticism is valid when i have deconstructed and answered why it's not, i have pointed out the grey shades of this topic in this video! but you didn't watch it cause you do not care about good faith arguements bud... also IF ONLY you read the title of this video that says "criticizing the RACIST criticism" where i have showed clear examples of straight up racist arguements, i am implying if you feel offended by just this title you are not thinking straight my brother in christ, there are racist hating on this show and when you review bomb something alongside racists, it's not on people to have a good faith arguement against you... disliking this show is valid but review bombing it for being imperfect is absurd. there's only 2 reasons to review bombthis show, either you are a racist or a manchild, in both cases you are not gonna have a good faith arguement. and if you still believe, again without watching this video, that this video is an attack on valid criticisms, no amount of degrees are gonna help you think critically.

because they are not doing that. i think it was obvious but maybe not so here's the deal, "races" in tolkein lore implies elves, dwarves, men, hobbits, with sometimes few different sub sections of them, then maybe even kingdom wise subsets... "skin colour" doesn't really matter to this fictional lore simply because it's a "fictional lore". for example elves might be inspired by eastern eurpoeans (hypothetically cause idk) hence they *should* be white, but elves don't exist, tho globalization does. you can find poc with european nationality so even logically it makes sense that poc should be allowed to play any character if they are good actors. makes sense? edit - same goes for others as well

doesn't change the fact that you still come across as someone who has not seen the show... the cgi looks good, the costumes look great, the acting is fine too... you see what you did?? "it's not true to tolkein lore, also piling on random criticism" i agree and acknowledge that lore is not one to one, and honestly that is a fair arguement, but this video was about racist arguements, maybe watch this video first or watch the show first or something?? a lot of people (not all) like the one's in this video are giving the "lore arguement" to hide the fact that they are racists... the show isn't as bad as people are saying it is.
