@@trentburton9793 to a much better place haha
Z-One pickups are unbeatable! I have a Reverend Crosscut with those pickups ❤ Thinking on purchasing a Drop Z in white, exciting times trying to convince myself that I need another guitar 😂 Great work, man!
100% mate, I've got my ZONE setup in drop C and I've got a strat with a set in it as well setup in half step down and I cant get enough of them. I would love a drop Z in the high tide blue but cant justify one to myself yet haha
had a Trouble maker Goldtop for one month This thing rips live i run it thru a Boss Katana MK 2 Head , with a boss Metal zone 2 waza , BossChours , just did after concert jam with Rap Group Funkdoobiest got so many compliments of the sound and the SquireTele goldtop
I'm sitting here playing mine right now! still really enjoying it, glad so many other people are as well
Please make a video on your pedal and amp set up.
Sounds awesome man. What pedals are you running through around 5:25?
cheers mate, it's just a modulated delay pedal and i'm doing swells with the volume knob.
Aztec Gold is preordered.
Fucking A, great video dude, I just bought myself one, arrives today
cheers mate! are you going to run it stock or mod it? either way, it's so much guitar for the money, enjoy it!
@@carsandguitars Thanks bro. its my 2nd guitar ever, i started playing only 3 months ago, Yes I'm modding it, I've got Seymour Duncan JB Bridge pickup, CTS 500k pots, locking tuners and bone Nut for it :D :D
@@Slay6tanic thats awesome! have fun with it :)
Got a gold one. I can't stop playing it!
I’ve had trouble (pun intended) putting mine down as well, I love when a particular guitar inspires you to play.
Classic more money than brains… or talent scenario… stick to cars ya wanka!
Nice guitar, congratz..👍
She’s a beauty!
I really like the Aztec Gold one, but I already have a number of T style and LP style guitars. If I decided to get one, I’d have to sell something.
Intonation sounds a bit off. I guess it's to be expected straight from the factory, but beautiful looking piece of gear.
You are correct, I did film a little clip (but forgot to use it) guitar was perfectly in tune out the box but the A string intonation is SLIGHTLY off
I bought one on Saturday. I went into the shop with a trade-in thinking about buying an Epiphone Les Paul something or other. I played about 10 different ones, including a Slash variant, new and used, including a couple of the higher end ones, and just didn't fall in love with any of them. They were fine, but none of them spoke to me. Then I spent a good half hour with one of these and was sold. The sound, the look, the playability, all feel like they were made for me.
Thats awesome you could try so many options side by side and the Troublemaker came out on top. I know what you mean about it 'speaking' to you... I couldnt get it out of my mind when I first seen the black one, it is a beauty to look at (and play) enjoy it mate!
Just by playing Drown you've sold me on this
Such an underrated riff!
I’ve always loved the paranormal series but my Gibson gothic explorer trumps all! Great vid mate, keep em coming please 🙏🏻
Glad you're enjoying it mate!
the single coil options didn't sound too bad
I was really surprised as well and not just because I didn't even know it had the coil split haha
the Guitaristas channel, he removed this option. Then had a hard time wiring and molding this "Troublemaker"! It was Hilarious 😅
The paranormal series is really cool, I've had two of the super sonics from the range and they were decent guitars for the money.
There's been so many cool designs and mashups in the Paranormal series over the years, there was a Jazz Tele and a really cool whiteguard strat from the.. I think Parallel universe? series that were just so beautifully done.
@@carsandguitarsseems to be where fender (well via Squier) can have a bit of fun without pissing off the purists. Although the parallel universe and alternate reality lines they did under fender were cool as well, it’s only the paranormal squiers that they have kept doing. Briefly had an alternate reality meteora, I liked that it was a brand new shape, glad to see they added it to the regular production range.
@@JasonWharton82 100% mate, they found the perfect balance.
Z one, all the way
I just restrung mine with 11-52s and set it up in drop C for a bunch of songs off the new album and i honestly can't put it down, its such a monster.
I regret not buying the signature strat back then...Nowadays, it's not easy to find one and the prices are pretty high. Z-one looks great but the strat is iconic.
The strats are like hens teeth these days for sure. I just restrung my Z-One with 11-52s and set it up in drop C... it's a monster but my white strat is still the guitar that all other are judged against.
That mellon collie ghost strat looked sick 👌 future project is it?
Cheers mate! It’s actually an old project… I am currently trying to find a set of red/blue/silver lace sensors and some other bits and pieces for a Mellon collie era build though 😉
@@carsandguitars that's mad. My black strat has all those stickers, I want to put either lace sensors or dimarzios in it but I've never swapped pickups and only soldered back in high school, one day I'll have a go at it.
@@LeonH12789 Give it a crack mate, it's like painting... worst case you just do it again haha.
Cool video. One thing I thought was actually how similar the sounds were across guitars. One thing that could be fun is if you go through the changes in Billy's rig / tone. From single coils to lace to p90 to hot rails to HBs. Explaining why he kept switching to get a different sound.
That's an awesome idea mate! I've actually been looking for a set of red/blue/silver lace sensors to do a Mellon Collie era build... might have to get onto that.
@@carsandguitarsI have an American strat with those installed. Bought it in 96 I do prefer my Z One however as it seems to have a more jack of all trades feel
@@brijul630 my Z-One has really grown on me, I’ve restrung it with 11-52s and set it up in drop C# for some heavy stuff 🤘🏼
@@carsandguitars Yes! That's perfect. The pickups can handle the low tuning nicely when you adjust that bass contour.
Weird thing is I think I want one….or five!
Great vid Mike, for me less is more as far as pick ups go but have always wondered about what you had a go at doing. BTW your ex gothic is now one of my favs. 🙏🏻❤️
Cheers mate! so happy you love the explorer, glad it's getting played and loved
i’ll never sell my Billy Corgan strat
I'm with you mate! I absolutely adore mine
What makes it so great compared to other strats ?
@@brianfoster4493 The thin nitro finish is super comfortable, great pickups that were only available on this specific guitar. USA made hardtail strats are a bit of a rarity which is sad because the configuration works well, the body is comfortable, the pickups are versatile and the tuning stability is excellent. Overall i just love how it plays, when i got it i was looking for a telecaster but i just instantly bonded with this instrument.
@@unclefungus7395 nice. I was just curious. I've never had a chance to play one. Maybe one day.
@@brianfoster4493 in my opinion, it’s a combination of the simple design (hardtail string through) plus the pickups and wiring, you can get so many varied tones out of it where you can dial in your own sound.
Reverend BC-1 all the way, sounds clearer than the other 2
It's definitely the brightest, the railhammers (the BC1s and the Z-Ones) are on another level
Nice work!!
Great video! You’ve inspired me to make a BC build of my own using the Contemporary HT Strat as the base. Having both the Z One’s and the Dimarzio’s in the Fender, do you have a preference between them? I’m debating between a loaded Corgan Dimarzio pickguard and making a Z One pickguard. Thanks!
Cheers mate! they are both very different beasts, In one of my recent videos I did a side by side comparison of the Fender and the 2 Reverends that give a bit of an idea of the uniqueness of each. The Z-one pickups are HOT, ther Dimarzios are probably more versatile especially with the 2 and 4 positions.
Ive got the identical Strat and BC-1 in black. Love them both. Agree the strat is more versatile. I really appreciate the Reverend however, great build quality and has more of that mid honk thing that Billy calls "cuff".
Have you tried the Z-One? I'm really enjoying it, I prefer it a lot more than the BC-1... but not as much as the strat haha
@@carsandguitars nope only the bc-1
Really wish Billy would play more Strats and SG's again
That Reverend Z-One is a nice guitar. but i'd take the stat
I feel the same as you mate!
Id love to see a rig rundown as it looks like you have a nice selection of gear. Keep it up 🤙🏻
Cheers mate, I might have to do one... I have sold a couple of guitars recently though
Smashing pumpkins, worst band of the '90s. Completely overrated. Billy whatever is a douchebag.
Have you heard their new album? I love the smashing pumpkins so much
Yeah! I’m really enjoying it, very solid guitar album, especially loving pentagrams
Woooo 🤘💕
Tonight tonight was beautiful. Its one of my fav smasing pumpkins songs
It sure is!
lol my day is now planned ! This is genius!!!!
Did you have any awesome hidden riffs?
@@carsandguitars yea on the first one and then it went to hell in a basket really quick but it was good fun.
@@G.S.W.SewmesomeMusic haha, well at least you had fun and tried some different things 🤘
Great video. I usually play a clean tone which has me leaning towards the BC Fender, but the Z-One is pretty cool too. Might I ask which you think gives more bang for its buck/AUD? To be honest, I'm not so interested in the BC-1
I definitely think the BC Fender is the more versatile and I genuinely love the clean tones from the 2 and 4 position (even the bridge is a great clean tone) Bang for buck is hard with the Fenders not popping up on the market very often but saying that i've seen them go for not much more than a brand new Z-One
@@carsandguitars thanks a ton. your video and comments have been helpful even if I'm still torn between the two
@@peteranderson4075 Not worries mate, if you're looking for a Z-One in metallic freeze I've actually decided to sell mine... it's mint but second hand priced.
Nice comparison. Billy = strat always for me.
I'm with you... My BC strat is the guitar that all others are judged against
Sounds really good! My only Strat is one of the recent MIJ “Limited International Color” series in Monaco Red. It’s very similar to your ‘77 with the large headstock, bullet truss rod adjustment, tuner design, 3-bolt neck plate, tilt adjustment, black knobs & pickup covers, etc. Not as cool as your vintage Strat, of course! 😉 Just thought I’d mention it if you’re into the ‘70s specs. If it weren’t for this MIJ one having a poplar body, it would be quite authentic!
I love me a big headstock strat, the 70's strats get so much crap but i really love them... enjoy yours!
Nice axe! Had an opportunity to purchase a really mint ‘70s Telecaster for next to nothing back in the late ‘90s. Similar color scheme as your Strat. Every now and then, I kick myself for not buying it. The retro stuff just has a vibe.
Cheers mate, they sure do… I got this one years ago for such a steal as well, I did a whole video on it on my channel 🤘🏼
Wicked, seriously.
Cheers mate!
Today my dad gave his white bc Stratocaster to me, I’ve always loved the guitar and played it a few times and I must say its the best guitar I’ve ever played. The bc strat is from 08 so an older 1 but its still amazing. I will never sell this guitar bc its just to good, nothing compares to that guitar
So awesome! I agree, they are absolutely stunning guitars. Enjoy it and play the shit out of it mate!
That's sounds great m8!
Cheers mate, perfect guitar for sparkling cleans!
You should do more videos on this project. i.e. what you do with the steering, breaks etc
Steering on this one is a Rodshop front end (basically a HR holden front end with Willwoods, my mate didnt want to reinvent the wheel and it's not cheap but it's made to do the thing that it does.... it helps for engineering as well. The steering column is from Australian Rod and Customs because it needed to be an ADR compliant, collapsible column because the cars been V8 swapped. What state in Aus are you in mate?
thanks for the information. I am in NSW (newcastle).
@@peterstacey6058 yeah sweet, I'm in NSW as well so the above applies... best bet is to find an engineer near you and start the conversation... good luck mate!
Hi thanks for uploading this. very useful for when I do my project ek wagon. what break booster are you using?
Cheers mate! booster and master cylinder are out of a VT/VX/VY commodore. We used this one because my mate whos car it is spoke with an engineer (who's engineering it for roadworthy) and he recommended this style because the whole things converted to disc brakes.
I have a black fender strat billy corgan ...and will never sold it , with my diezel VH2 !!! holly shit waht a combo , so much fun
Zeitgeist sounds right there! The guitars were absolutely monstrous in that era 🤘🏼
Absolutely amazing.
Much appreciated mate... it's an amazing album!
@@carsandguitars I caught your video where you built that guitar with the Reverend BC railhammers. EPIC!
@@SterlingWheel Cheers mate! it's a beast, those pickups are absolutely amazing
I could never afford a 2nd hand market Fender, but someday I hope to get a Z One. But then I’d want a new amp…and more pedals…lol I swear I still have the “official” Mellon Collie tab book from like 1998 somewhere…
The Fenders sell so quickly when they do pop up fo sale as well! You won't regret a Z-One, could be worth looking at a set of the pickups as well, I did a build with them and love it.
I’ve got the black bc strat. It’s my favorite guitar.
Nice! The black ones seem to be pretty rare. I bought my white one new back in 09 and snagged a black one a couple years ago after a tonne of searching, such good guitars though!
