Replant Darien! Native Trees & Shrubs
Over the last couple of years, Darien experienced the removal of many valued old-growth native trees and shrubs. We know that this has been heartbreaking for many in our community, including us. And it wasn’t just our loss, it was a huge loss to our wildlife friends. But we’re here to help remedy this!
We’re excited to offer six gorgeous, wildlife-beneficial shrub and tree varieties in three-gallon pots.

_Do you have any information on how to take cuttings from ornamental kale?_
Thank you so much!!! ❤
Are these pot grown trees? Or potted trees? I’d like to keep the tree potted outdoors.
I was searching for nepeta on google not the flower… I MEANT THE CHARACTER FROM HOMESTUCK😿
Does this plant grow in clay soil?
I don't understand the results 😢
wow! glad i’m informing myself before
oTERRACOTTA CHEAP NO NO AN URN CAN COST UP TO TWO HUNDRED POUNDS UP UNTO THOUSANDS!!
Thank you so much for this video. I rescued 2 big beautiful Peace Lilly's from Lowe's end of season sale . They as always either let them dry out or they drown the poor plants. So I got 2 and put them in the self watering pots with the rope that sucks up the water for them and I see the pot is to big .
Love nepeta but cannot grow it due to cats continuously targeting it 😢
Thank you!
I never cut from the soil line and my plants grow fine
We planted Blue Fortune Agastache this past spring in a raised garden bed. Zone 5 Albany, NY area. What should we to winterize them? The bees are still latching onto them. 50's/60's days and low 40's at night and very rainy and wet lately. Do they get cut back? We have other perennials in the same garden bed.
Where is your climate?
Thanks for your reply. I figured since it snows where you live I thought tulip bulbs would go thru freezing and thawing based on temps in raised bed/containers outdoors. Again thanks
Mine came with instructions to only do a 1/4 cup of water every week, but my blooms just fell off. I have had it and been doing this since may. Never did the ice thing. Is this normal? The leaves are still green
The aphids don't seem to harm the swamp milkweed at all. I just ignore them.
Thank you.
Excellent video, very concise.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for that tip!
We're happy to help! Thanks for watching!
Great info. 🙏🏼❤️
Happy to help!
I'm also in southern connecticut. I grew ornamental kale and cabbage this past year and they are very small. If I overwinter them will they end up looking like their big brothers in a couple of years?
13185 Guadalupe Lock
This explains why my newly planted sky pencil holly died not during last winter, but in a week or two after it warmed up here in zone 6A. It was already dead but preserved. Thanks!
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching.
I wish I were closer! Great initiative 😊
Thank you for supporting from afar! 😃
Mine end up very leggy, long brown/tan runners with a few leaves on end. What to do?
You can trim them way back in late winter or early spring. Not all the way to the ground, but close.
Why is this better than cutting from the end and planting the cutting to grow bushy at the soil surface? 😂
O my god
What growing zones does agastache succeed in?
Agastache does best in zones 5 through 8.
Wow I did it correctly all on my own
Except I trim the vine once it grows over the rim of the pot, then when the off shoot grows over the pot, I cut it back even further. Then I cut all of the biggest leaves out so that smaller leaves grow more and the plant looks even more full because there’s nothing but a bunch of tiny leaves
Love them all!!
What about switch grasses?
Beautiful
What are some good companion plants ?
Ferns, Hostas and Astilbes work very well with forest grass.
Thank you ☘️🌵🪴🍀
I ❤❤❤❤❤ snake plants I have 22
There’s no “h” in asclepius, it’s pronounced “asKlepius.” _just sayin’_
I was given one just a couple of weeks ago and i love it, I'm desperately trying to keep it alive. It's in a sunny dpot on a balcony and we're watering most days, but many of the leaven have dried and some of the white flowers have gone a bit brown. Should we be watering more / only at the base / over the flower heads? Id love your advice, thanks!
HOMESTUCK REFRENCE?????
This was very helpful and encouraging
i difently need help. i have a sloping two tier back yard. i live in Colorado. looking for favority of ground covering plants. been looking into blue grass junipers and i creeping phlox will help covering my rocky slope yard. thank you for the video
You gave best infos about nepeta , I will prune mine like that soon ..thanks
Great piece! Sean, on our first year plants (Asclepias Incarnata / Swamp Milkweed), last summer in S. Wis. on an urban lot, we had a heavy infestation of "vampire" aphids at the top of the plants that were guarded 24/7 by one or two dark carpenter ants for days, maybe even weeks. What’s that all about?!!? Haven’t seen much of the orange aphids this year as of 8-9-2024, but it’s been a truly unusual summer in terms of overcast skies, odd, colder temperatures etc. Love what you do, THANKS! Scribed!
Dude loved the wisdom, energy and knowledge. Go hydrangeas!!!!!
Thanks for watching!
To add to the invasive grasses discussion here, I want to mention that as a basket weaver, all of these grasses are a gold mine--I cut them back every year, dry them, and make coiled baskets with them (after rehydrating and mellowing) all year around here in Connecticut. I also keep garden sheers in my car so I can harvest anything I see on the edges of parking lots and other areas where they're clearly not cultivated by anyone!
Very nice
what brand do you trust for fungicide?
funny enough, thats actually how I water my plants! and that was just my own thinking
That's awesome! Happy plant parenting!
Awesome advice. THANK YOU.
We’re happy you found it helpful! Thanks for watching! PS - part 2 is up!
where is part 2?
