Just read "In The Garden of Beasts" (my first Erik Larson book) and it was incredible! I tell friends and family that they need to read this incredible book!

Doug, I saw your sit down with MK on her show and loved it. You mentioned that you liked war docs. The best one I have seen is: Apocalypse: WWI, 14 Episodes. Shot in black and white on 35 mm motion picture film and colorized beautifully. The footage is over 110 years old but it is so much better than the 16mm WWII footage that has been duplicated into oblivion. It is a must see!

Mike's talking about his parents reminded me about how when all my friends git to go to Girl Scout Camp. She said their parents needed a break from their kids but she loved me too much to have me gone so long. I believed her. She lacked camp money.

I watched it and it is super funny and awesome they left that in. Hilarious

We need more interviews like this. You should have more of a set schedule on weekly or biweekly or whatever. I feel many of us would appreciate the structure and look forward 🎉

Doug Brunt, this was a great, wide ranging interview. I would really like for you to have an extended conversation/interview with historical novelist Bernard Cornwell. I love his ability to draw the reader into a story, thereby causing the reader to experience a very different world than the present.

I love Erik Larson’s books and really enjoyed your interview with him. I was so intrigued I sought out other podcasts featuring Erik, but was quickly very disturbed by his political stance on current events!! For a man who has put so much of his life into understanding people and what makes them act as they do, he has sure missed the mark on what is happening today. He seems to think today’s “Southerners” are no different than those of the civil war era. I just don’t understand how very intelligent people can’t see that we are giving our freedoms and rights away in the name of DEI and political correctness!!! I am so sad to find out one of my favorite authors is so closed minded.

Love Mike Rowe. Can’t wait to read his book. If Doug thinks it’s a good book, then I am in!
