    When you do your runout check, don't touch the chuck. You can corrupt your reading doing this. Instead, turn the the motor pulley. I know it sounds a bit picky for this drill press, but it's a good habit to get into.

    By the thumbnail I thought a lady was going to be giving the review and was interested in her perspective on it. Mt small woodshop, full as it is, space is at a premium and so I chose one slightly smaller. I got the WEN 4212T, the 10" version of this and so far it seems pretty good. The chuck doesn't wobble, the motor sounds normal and even the spade bits in it seem to run true and smoothly. Haven't yet had a chance to try it with a forstner bit, but in as much as I'll be using quite a large one it'll give it a good workout. 3" or 4" forstner bits to make level spots in logs to adjoin faceplates to for turning on a lathe.

    Great video. I recently bought the Craftex CX118. It's a Canadian company but looks to be the identical saw. I assume they're all made in the same factory with different paint lol. I really did not expect it to be so underpowered though. I'm coming from a slightly larger saw (14" King Canada), but was much older and missing parts. I actually came across your video as I was looking for tips and tricks to get mine working a bit better. didn't expect to see the identical saw! I think at this point, I need something like your minimax as I want to do some re-sawing. But this was a good video to confirm my thoughts - and I was able to get it for about half the price Wondering how it performed with a different blade? Was hoping to see that in the vid. Either way, thanks for posting! Great review.

    • @victorywoodworks
      @victorywoodworks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching and commenting. The MiniMax 16" is an excellent band saw and very good at resawing with a 1" blade. saw. I bought the Wen because I needed something smaller so I didn't need to swap out blades all the time (typical cut takes 30 sec and blade swap takes several minutes). The blades that came with the Wen were not very good, so I tried the Ayao version. These blades were better quality, inexpensive (2-pk $16USD) but dulled quickly. I think if I/you were to use a better blade (like USA Band Saw Blades -> gmbandsaw.com or Olson) the saw would perform even better.

    Hello there, this is a good saw, not as flashy as the Rikon version but very capable. Your pros and cons are pretty good I have been using this model saw for a few years and I love it. My intention was to buy two band saws this one and a large one but honestly this saw is so useful I still haven’t bought a bigger one. So maybe 10” is enough. I generally work with wood that isn’t wider than 6” so it will fit my jointer and this little saw can resaw 6” hardwood all day. I use 3/8 3PC and a 1/2 3PC blade from Timber Wolf to resaw and it cuts with ease. My main general use blades a 1/8 & 3/8 blades and they cut clean. You are sort of right about dust collection and I never calibrate the fence ruler but the fence is great sets up easily and stays true. One small gripe is to open the bottom door you have to loosen the fence clamp as it blocks the door that’s a problem if you have a tricky set up for multiple cuts. I made a handle that is out or the way of the door. I don’t like the non magnetic aluminum table and the non standard miter slot but I made a sled with runners for the slots and it works great. I found that positioning the work light out and away from the cutting area works best. This saw punches above its weight and I love it.

    • @victorywoodworks
      @victorywoodworks 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your feedback. I hadn't thought about building a sled for the saw, but now I think i might. As for the work light, I bought a hose clamp with a rubber padding on the inside and screwed the light (arm) to the under/inside of the upper shroud of the saw so it faces the operator. Now I can aim it at the front of the cut more easily. Thanks for watching and hopefully subscribing.

    two things I learned recently, the bearings on the top and underneath the table portion need to be adjusted to no more than a 16th of an inch from the blade. basically as close as you can get them without them spinning when the saw is turned on. And the other thing was the positioning of the blade on the pulley wheels. Apparently the gullet portion of the blade is what needs to be perfectly center on the wheel. lots of folks think it's the center of the band on the blade that's supposed to be centered in the pulley but this causes lots of wobble. The issues you were dealing with are the same that I was dealing with and it corrected them perfectly! Thanks for your channel!

    half the stuff sold on Amazon is bought from places like Temu and re-sold on Amazon.. OEM had there patent time to recoup there money for there R&D and sold the item at up to 100% to 500% over what it was worth. I dint feel bad buying something cheaper if its the same. It most likely came from same factory

      Amazon does source their products from all over. What I am looking for is good value, but prefer to buy local even if it costs a little more. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      I believe the HP to be aproximately 1/2HP. This is based on perfect conditions (true 120v and a 1.0 powerfactor). Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting. If you haven't already help us out and subscribe.

    Decent idea for small shops. I’m always looking for ideas for my small space. A quick note about video thumbnails. I checked your other videos and the thumbnails were off putting for me. I’m just one person, but the thumbnails on your other videos don’t appeal to me. This one was much better without clickbait faces/terms. I’m also leaving this coming to increase your algorithm score.

      Due to the size and bulkiness of feather boards, I bring them out on an as needed basis. For me when standing at the table saw, if I were to reach to the right and slightly behind me they are in a drawer cabinet, pretty easy access. Thanks for watching, commenting and hopefully subscribing.

    Oh men, why didn't you go with the WEN DPA158L Tanged Arbor chuck? I don't thing the wedge tool will remove that chuck now, I did some research and found the Tanged Arbor is a more direct replacement chuck for this machine and the wedge tool works. Look into it, you might have time to exchange it.

    • @victorywoodworks
      @victorywoodworks 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for letting me know, because I didn't realize that there were several keyless chucks or that one had a tang and the other didn't. I just checked and you are absolutely correct in that the wedge will not remove the "tangless" arbor. Thanks for watching, commenting and hopefully subscribing.

    • @robc8468
      @robc8468 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you manage to get the non-tang arbor out you will notice the non-tang Arbor has a thead on the end you could buy a button head cap screw and lock tight it to the threads with the screw extending to where the tang would nomally be, that mod. should allow the drift to work like it would with a tang arbor. By the way 0.0025" total runout is very very good for a drill press with a stock "Jacobs" type chuck.

    • @victorywoodworks
      @victorywoodworks 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its funny, but I accidentally disconnected the arbor by drilling with a forstner that got stuck in the hole. Knowing this now, I dont think removal will be a problem (or needed). This arbor seems to work well so will leave it on.

      For comparison a Jacobs keyless 1/2” chuck for my drill press was about $160 I am sticking with the chuck key. Is there any lash adjustment on the table crank?

    • @victorywoodworks
      @victorywoodworks 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I couldn't find any lash adjustment, just the locking bolt to the main column. It just seems that the lifter threads/mechanism is very coarse.

Its in the works now and will be up tomorrow (1/1/2024), so stay tuned. *** Spoiler, the drill press performed much better than I expected and hoped for at the $200-ish price point.

Yours look the same because the amazon seller dropshipped from temu
