This happened after you did the duplicating? Unfortunately I don't know how to help, never happened to me and I can't see a way it would happen at all. If there were to seperate character files on the save, one can't just disappear. Did you ever get any notification from Steam about stuff being out of sync or anything?

Unfortunately no, not to my knowledge. They really should add this as a feature in the future I feel ...

press Windows + R in desktop and type in: %appdata% , and hit run and you’ll be in app data

Can neither confirm nor deny, I'm afraid. I honestly never even paid any mind to messages causing problems. I'm not the biggest messenger in these games, but I do leave them from time to time and have never experienced any issues. Of course that is no guarantee that it is save unfortunately.

I honestly can't tell you, this isn't a subject I ever dealt with. It is possible that you might run into some problems there, but I have no praticl experience I could share, sorry.

Sorry to hear that, if you're in doubt on what to do, the saver course of action is certainly not to mess with the safes at all.

Not sure where you'd want to add a number to, but I completely understand, if you don't like using this or any other program. I just thought I share the way I do it.

@@tankaifung5584 i just coppy the save file and the back up it in a folder. and then start the dlc. and yeah me only worry was if i cant get back to main world to collect all stuff i still need to explore. but so far every thing fine, did not realy need to back up bc every thing carry over. can still explore all missing things i need to do in mainworld

nevermind i did manage to function it after reinstalling the 1st version on an other drive and lauching the game, it then function in the other drive with the latest 10.1

@@spy2050 not sure anymore i tested lot of things, if you have a cracked elden ring version like i do maybe you forget to paste the 3 steam file you get with the the ER setup in your 10.1/10.2 game file and that dont make it load the save like in ur first version where you did past those

Did you delete the backup-file Steam generates in the save folder? Otherwise Steam gets confused what to do :)

@@gully5437 There should be 3 files in the folder: .sl2, .sl2.bak and .vdf. The .bak is the backup-file. Delete that as well as the .vdf (not sure what that is, I just always delete it to be sure) The .sl2 is the actual savefile of yours.

You'll have to do it with the game closed. And don't forget to delete the .bak and .vdf files from the folder afterwards as shown in the vid. Have fun! :)

Evtl. hast du den Speicherpfad für Steam mal manuell auf etwas anderes eingestellt? Falls du mehrere Nutzer auf deinem Rechner hast, könnte es auch sein, dass du im falschen Ordner schaust. Ist leider immer etwas schwer, bei sowas aus der Ferne zu helfen ...

I've heard of people being bonked and unable to play online if the character you copied had a message written down before you copied the save. I don't actually know if that's true or not, but just something to keep in mind.

I use a mule character savefile, that I downloaded on the Nexus. It has all the weapons and upgrade materials you could ever need. I then copied that savefile multiple times, so I could do different builds. But stuff like this is to be done with some caution, due to the risk of being banned. I have a video on my channel on how I did this, if you want to check it out. Haven't had any issues with it as of yet.

In terms of ranges and matchmaking nothing has changed. For invasions I do prefer RL 138 atm, which is the highest you can go and still invade RL 125 hosts. Lots of activity there. For the colosseum I go up to RL 150 and still have plenty of people to play with.

If you mean wether you should see a second save file identical to the first, then yes you theoretically should. Are you using the same editor as in the video? It might be you accidentally just overwrote the same save instead of choosing a different slot for the second save. Or maybe you mean something else altogether? :)

Unfortunately not at all, since I don't know how to get any "behind the scences" numbers and the game doesn't tell you anything about hyper-armor directly, the best I could do is guess. Also thanks for the kind words, I'm doing well, just a little overwhelmed with work atm. :)

Yes it has, however atm I think I will wait till the DLC drops, before doing something on the topic again, since that's pretty likely to change up a lot of things.

You're in the wrong directory. That's the game files that are located in the Steam folder under your programms. The save file is stored elsewhere under Users on your harddrive (unless you specified something else in your settings of course). You may have to check the show hidden objects box in your explorer to see the AppData folder under Users where the save file is stored. I hope this helped, it's kinda hard to describe in just a few lines of text, but since the folder is named "EldenRing" (no spaces) maybe a search for it would turn it up.

Yes, achievements are not affected, because they don't care which save you do them with. Don't know how it works exactly, but they must keep track of your progess in some different way.
