Good summary. I just DIY'd two heat pumps and used nylog on threads, the back of the flare, and on the flare itself. Many hvac techs say only put it on the front of the flare. That's rubbish. Also good for sealing the threads on line caps as a second line of defense if tha valve fails.

how many lbs of torque is overtight. For example, what if the wrong torque spec was used. Should have been 38 ft-lbs but was 55-ft-lbs. Is that within 'tolerances' or should the whole flare be re-done.

I guess that was over tight :P I do it without Torque wrench for myself but with short 20cm wrenches and you can't overtighten it like that..

Hey Alex! Quick one, I'm living in the US and working as a service tech in HVAC, mostly residential with some light commercial. There are little to no requirements for qualifications here, as long as someone in the company has a "Master HVAC" license. What are the requirements like in the UK??

What about cross skilling Refrigeration engineers to AC. Similar theory but very different setups, controllers etc... you should do a 5 day course, that would get more people into AC 👍🏻 Talking from a supermarket chain stand point 😅

No it’s not required. Without changing the back panel it’s literally a 10/15min job. Think my fastest is about 12 mins… yes I timed it😂
