Hi there from an old kiwi dozer operator and owner of many dozers in my fifty six years of operating and owning heavy machinary, The D 6 C was and still is a very good model , it and the D 6 D were two of the better D 6 s Caterpillar built in my opinion for what ever it may be worth, Your machines looks to be in fairly good order , very tidy indeed, Unfortunately for those around me I am still addicted to operating heavy machinery and am at present time in the Northern Territory of Australia on a vast 1.2 million acre cattle station operating a Caterpillar 16 H grader , now in my 71st year I know it is only a matter of time when the inevitable days arrives that I'm going to have to hang up my boots for good , Enjoy your D6 C , truly a very capable and nice well balanced machine to operate. Cheers and thanks for sharing your video from an old 1953 model kiwi ,

My Dad bought a Bay City cable crane 40 years ago with a similar Cat D315 with the same pup start engine for his scrap metal operation. You could tell when he started the two cylinder pup engine by its high pitched sound. Then he started the D315 with it.

Nice tractor. I've given up looking for an older D6(for play) after searching for 10 years. When I find one that grabs my attention, it's either west of the Mississippi or up in the New England area: too far to transport.

I just came across your channel and wish I'd of found it sooner. It's pretty cool seeing that machine being used on a jobsite by the people who restored it and not sitting along the highway as yard art or a sign for a business. The White, Bantam and lowboy trailer are a great looking combination.

Those Red Diamond gas engine's were very good and they held up well the 450 even had dry sleeves so it was rebuildable in the frame. Those Fleet Stars were very popular trucks with IH I am old enough to have mechanicd on them.

Thanks for sharing! Very much enjoyed watching! Never in my 61 years of life have I seen that style of lowboy. At one time here on our farm we had koreing 605 and a lorein drag lines we moved and pieced together to run to enlarge our water capacity for irrigation needs . It’s all gone but the memories.

You can't beat an Ol' flat track Cat. In my opinion the D6C's were one of the best. I miss working on them from my early years as a Cat heavy Mechanic. Thanks for the video Dennis, can't wait to see this Ol' Girl in action.

If your machine's hard starting it's usually a fuel priming issue, an older cat typically has the check valve in the fuel priming pump.

Or as a safety. I have question too, were the oil pickups in the oil pans to the front? As I’d have worked about running those engines out of oil.

The spark plug and gas intake are in the chamber behind the start valve. . Have seen one of those old galions with the 6 cylinder version of that engine. An old farmer around here would always switch his back and let it run on gas for a minute or so before he shut it down. Claimed it made it easier to start next time, especially when using the hand crank.
