A journey of a dog on a paddleboard.
Dog brings human on paddleboard adventures.
Human attempts to keep board stable for dog.
I figure that if watching us on the water helps encourage you to get out there as well then it's a success.
Been spending some time mountain boarding during some recovery time from paddleboarding. I think some of the skills may have transferred over.

Broken insta360 floating hand grip
It just sheared off sending the camera to the deep blue sea floor. Not really up to the standards one would expect for action camera equipment, it should be able to handle action and not detach your camera from the part that is supposed to keep it afloat.
Bad look for insta360. Fun camera while it lasted, which was less than a month.

my biggest pet peeve about this board is the fact that it doesnt come with headlights/tailllights included in the box when ordered.
I rarely use them because I never trust the mounting mechanism. I would constantly be worrying about one falling off whilst riding if they got any dirt or sand in the locking mechanism then it just wouldn't work securely. The lights themself are great and useful when they are on but I just don't use them often at all as I got sick of retrieving them.
I'm considering buying x4. but I have a problem with how to secure the camera while kitesurfing. there are no dedicated floating cases I was thinking about a stick like yours, but I was afraid that it might break in this place like yours. there should be a stick with a direct protrusion onto the m8 frame.
Oh yeah and to top it off the responses from insta360 have been painfully slow. I notified of the break and camera loss days ago and haven't received anything aside from a request to send more information. It was their equipment that caused the camera to go down to the sea and I made the mistake of trusting it.
Just got mine on Wednesday, have been loving it so far, new to esk8 but long time skater, been a bit of an adjustment so damn fast
Sweet! Yeah, I stayed on the lowest mode for quite awhile until I got the hang of it. My first fall was actually pulling in to stop and then full throttling as I didn't have the muscle memory down yet, this caused my feet to immediately be above my head and luckily I was unharmed. I had only taught myself to skate after breaking some parts of me in December which made paddleboarding and surfing a bit impossible until I healed. So glad I did though, skating is that amazing activity you can do just about anywhere. Hope you love the board.
Just ordered mine today looking forward to riding around the SF mountain bike trails, and now possibly the beach! Which battery did you get and how's the range been? I'm hoping to get at least 20 miles out of it
I went with the 1KW battery and easily get 20 to 30 miles. I generally sit around 210-220 pounds and ride off the smooth roads quite often. Make sure to get some extra inner tubes and maybe a couple extra tires and you should be good to go for awhile.
The lights are worth it ? Thinking about to buy them
They are pretty awesome but I do have some issues with them not always locking in securely and never get that worry free feeling when they are on as I have almost lost them multiple times.

Ew top mount
It's a mountain board dude
Ew top mount
Conveniently I'm also top mounted via the bindings and the bottom of the deck gets to take the abuse of the world instead of a battery housing.
Tell us you know nothing about esk8 without telling us you know nothing about esk8
how loud is it ?
It's fairly quiet but linearly increases in volume as the speed goes up. I haven't done anything to minimize the sound of the board in the videos I have uploaded. I'll probably put up a review of the board and focus on that a bit before I hit 500 miles.
May i ask what is your height, weight and shoe size. Your stance on board seems very narrow + the bindings make it even more( is it comfortable). I am 6,1 235 pounds and shoe size 13.@@paddleboarddog
I find the board very comfortable. I'm a bit shorter and maybe twenty pounds lighter. The stance may look a bit narrow because I am a bit thick in the thighs but the board would likely fit you fine. The bindings are pretty comfortable and now that I've gotten used to their usage I wouldn't go without them.
A bunch of people are complaining on the forums about the Nyx Z3 rattling, and the bushings (not the shock blocks, but the points of rotation on the new suspensions trucks) being cheap/rattling and some wear (paint scratches) from just the trucks rubbing. Any issues like that so far?
Z3 Rattling: When things are tight it really hasn't been a noticeable thing but it should be seen as a warning. There is a bit of a process of disassembly to properly torque everything down I found. Torque sealant is mandatory. Bushings: Almost lost a hat bushing for the front truck when the pin hardware truck backed out, ended up only losing a washer. I haven't noticed rattlin Places of wear: Definitely have had some wear on the lower front control arms. The first two have broken but have been replaced by the stronger set that was sent out (without prompting) likely to fix the initial weakness. I haven't noticed the trucks rubbing or causing any paint wear.
Hey LeftPal! None of these things are valid concerns, I can assure you. The little rattling is only without rider weight, locking everything into place. And our point of rotation bushings are definitely not cheap. Paint scratches are to be expected. Our test boards have done thousand of miles and are holding up wonderfully. One rider on the facebook group had a front truck that was a bit loose, and we are replacing his hanger that might had a machining inconsistency.
hello, is there any way to put cloudwheels 165r on these gear drive ?
Those look like some interesting wheels, and it would be nice to have the peace of mind to not worry about flats while out exploring. It wouldn't be too complicated to install them on the front with proper bushings as it's just a 12mm axle. In order to mate it with the rear gear drives there would have to be a custom adapter to mechanically link the driven gear to the wheel. Definitely possible, just takes a bit of effort and maybe some machining.
@@paddleboarddog Thank you for a great answer!
is this good for beginners?
A lighter weight board might be a better option for a beginner depending on the size of the rider. For me as a new skater it's been a great experience.
pointless video...
Welcome to TH-cam.
@@paddleboarddog don't listen to him, these help other people interested in buying this board. Thanks bro
Are your trucks loose or is that the combination of trucks and suspension?
th-cam.com/users/shortsDmSmF5kywGs Brief short covering the lights and showing a bit of their spread in usage.
Did the lights come in the box, I thought the were still in production.
No. They came later in a separate package. Been playing a bit of light retrieval with them as they can get popped off a bit too easily for my liking while off road.
@@paddleboarddog how is the board I can't wait to get mine
Yeah,I was hoping someone would have done a review of the lights by now . What do you think of them other than the popping out issue and have you come up with a decent way to help secure them better ? Also how are they controlled and do you think that they are at all worth the cost?
@@IOtheJovian1 I can put some more footage out of using them today for you. I'm up to 69 (nice!) miles and most of it has been off the pavement and with the ocean being wonderful lately I haven't spent much time video editing.
@@paddleboarddog That would be terrific. Thank you! I’ve got about 170 miles on mine according to the boards odometer (although I think it’s off a bit probably more like 150 real world) ,with probably about 2/3 of that on road as the off-road conditions around here have been petty muddy. But I’ve Had some good clean fun riding on the Park loop rd in Acadia National Park as it’s closed in the winter to automobile traffic . Carving up Cadillac mountain at 30 mph has been a blast especially with the road mostly all to yourself . -cheers
I got one coming on the slow boat. You getting speed wobbles on it? Is it super stable at high speeds or no?
I was a bit wobbly early on but realized that the bushings were totally loose. I've had some wobbles on a toe side turn whilst braking on a downhill that ended up only damaging my pride in the fall. Hopefully it's enjoyable for you. So far it is for me.
@@paddleboarddog thanks, I'm a bit worried about it. My current board is absolutely stable at any speed and condition. So new is scary.
👍👍👍
So what is the range that you got on it and how fast can it go
I can't really comment on the range as I have only traveled 5.4 miles so far at relatively slow pacing with most of it being mixed terrain as I learn my bearings. The max speed is also beyond me currently. I have appreciated being able to set the maximum speed lower to be in line with my comfort level at the moment via the remote's advanced settings.
Your wheels are directional and facing the wrong way.
Good eye. The rears were installed improperly on my end and just needed to be switched around. One of the front tires was a packaging mistake of some form as it shipped as such. I've been putting in about a mile per day on the board trying my best to learn this new skillset. I bet it's a bit more stable once I get that all set up properly. Thanks for noticing and calling it out.
Can’t decide between this and the propel endeavour pro 2 I heard the propel is coming out with a gear drive soon
@@christopherbouman160 That could be a tough call. I was tempted by the Endeavor but I ended up prioritizing ground clearance and avoiding belt drives in favor for gear drives for peace of mind regarding debris. At 180 miles on the Z3 now and I'm a lot more proficient than when I began my esk8 adventures. I have definitely come to appreciate not having a battery box on the bottom when I go over tree roots and rocks.
@@christopherbouman160 The gear drive is already out. Their battery, although encased in metal, is still on the bottom of the board, reducing your clearance and also prevent any board flex. Those 2 things alone are deal breakers if you really want an off road eskate. Trampa boards are really the best.
Looks great. I'd recommend a full face downhill mtb helmet at least with that board. It's saved my head before
On both the appearance of the board and the importance of at least a full face helmet, I agree with you. I'm glad wearing proper gear saved your head! Better to dress for the crash than to pretend it won't happen.
Unboxing stuff is easy. The board is amazing so far. Spent a few hours playing in the yard just losing track of time. Should have bindings within the next few days. It's super fun, would recommend if you enjoy having a reason to wear a helmet.
