VFR engine to a VF, can it be done?, how hard can it be?? !!
Firing order from the left side from 2:48 onwards, valve overlap 7:18 - then remember these engines will do 12,000rpm before the hard limiter.
Great work. Much appreciated you documenting your work!
Hi! About the connection rpm cable & the cilynder head cover valves ,inside the hole of it must be installed a rubber oil protection .i removed the shabby old one lifting a iron "lips", do you think that is positioned in a right way? Or must be between the head cable and the hole bottom? Thank
Thanks for video. I’ve just bought one 😂
nice job,,,,can you tell me where to get that blue paint or what the color code is?

I’m having the same problem in my 2014 custom left it to mechanics they changed airflow sensor was ok for few days now it’s happening again I’m going to change this sensor tomorrow and hope that might sort it out
Let me know if it worked for you, thanks
Changed the sensor this morning van was going perfect and now this evening it has come on again
I’ve now changed air flow sensor and this sensor no codes coming up have you any other idea what the problem might be thanks
Where are you located?@@beckydelaney6710
The next step is to plug in and look at live data, but my next move would be the diesel tep sensor on the back of the pump if you have no access to live data
Great, great job! I still have a FH model (86 RC24), it was my first real bike, after a Jawa 350. Last time it ran was 19 years ago. It's waiting for my retirement, so I have the time to fix it (almost everything bar the engine). I crashed it so many times, I lost count...I'm still in one piece, though!
Hi, please what is the order of pistons firing when sitting on it for example. Please no technical explanation. Thanks
Left rear cylinder fires first, then right rear cylinder fires second, then left front cylinder fires third, then right front cylinder fires fourth.
@@ANDYPEARCY1 Thank you so much for your prompt response. Bye
As an owner of a VF (1983)and a VFR (gen6 VTEC) I totally understand why your doing this. It will be an awesome machine and given the history of the VF can’t wait to see it finished. Maybe we should have a VF appreciation day ride out. My VFR’s an 800 VTEC, now that would liven things up a little.
I've been trying to solve this issue for 12 months!! Thank you thank you thank you !
Give that man a pat on the back... I was pulling my hair out & was just about to blame the DPF when I stumbled up on your video. This worked like a charm for me & £20 sensor in & all fixed - thank you very much !!
Glad it helped you out
You did a good thing Andy. People are going to be referencing this for decades to come. Good work!
Thank you !
Love loads uncle Dave all ways in our hearts
Wow, nobody cares I guess, but I do. Thank You for the hard work.
The 17 inch front wheels just make all the difference. The Yamaha FJ's went from in the early models, 16 inch wheel to 17inchs. The handling improvement was just almost unbelievable improvement.
@AndyPearcy you're done an excellent setup of the bike frame and wheels.
Hello Reggie.
The Honda VFR engine is almost idiot proof and putting that engine into this motorcycle is good idea. For the purist; that's their problem.
Excelente.
Hola tengi una moto similar solo que la mia es Honda magna 700 año 86 y de verdad que me a costado mucho cincronizarla. Me gustaría que publicará un video de como es la cincronizacion de dicho motor.
This video does not do this work of art justice. Please make a better video for us to enjoy.
a person could also just use a double banjo bolt from the original position ie like some front brakes run two lines from the master cylinder with back to back bajo's edit: watching the next video logically makes more sense the way you did it
this sounds like an awesome fix for the existing pipes, as far as i had it the problem on the cams had two problems affecting it the one was the oil pipe problems and the other was the fact that the home for the cams wasn't line bored but cast so now a person would see the impact of wobly cams alone on the cams wear needing special tool for valve adjustment problem is still there
If you come to Morocco will you repair my super magna 750
Saludos maestro tengo un problema con mi honda magna vf 750 cuando le doy arranque al motor gira lento ya cambie la bateria y el motor de arranque por unos nuevos y gira igual de lento tanto que no enciende tengo que empujar la moto para encenderla
Thank Peter.
Thank Peter! You right, 27-24 mm should be the appropriate. Is enough 1/10 mm of thread difference that doesn't.
Magneto puller : do you know which type and diameter.thank
You need a 27mm - 24 mm. I ordered one of those. And that should be the right one. Of course you can measure the hole in the middle on the magneto (it should be 27mm i guess). Anyway, i ordered that one this week because many websites advised that one. For several Yamaha single cylinders, also same size for other smallerJapanese bikes.
On amazon they have them, which is great because 1 or 2 days delivery, but i found one cheaper. 😀
Would this engine fit an SR 500? The black n White rag/bag sticking out of the rear hole beside rear engine mount - what is that hole for? Iv seen some bijes with a big round black knob located in it. Thanks.
Yes it essentially is an SR 500 engine. The hole near the rear mount is a big breather hole that went to the airbox as a standard bike, but some people put a aftermarket plastic breather on there.
@@ANDYPEARCY1 ah ok thanks. I'm planning on opening the engine of my SR 500 to change a few gaskets etc and see how it looks inside. Great little machines
Hi Andy. Well I must say I am well impressed with your progress so far. A lot of work and design has gone in to this modification and keeping the VF body kit and tank will show of all the mechanical side of the bike. I was never impressed with the VFR with all its body kit and full fairing. It just hid all the interesting parts of the bike. Well done , going to look really good. All the best Mike.
Great job
Well , this showed up in my feed Today , and , being I am retired , managed to binge watch them all . Thanks for uploading your project . I did put some Miles , back in the mid '80's , on a VF1000R , I loved the sound and the pull of the engine , I had progressed from the B.S.A's and Triumphs in the early '60's , to my Z1300 and H.D Shovelheads , riding the VF1000R was a bit of a difference . Can't wait to see the finished article . Growing up with Drums brakes , and Featherbed framed specials , I have often thought of a VF1000R engine , in a Featherbed frame , VF1000R forks and swingarm , laced wheels with 4LS brake and a conical hub rear Wheel .......P.S . Now powder coated , that frame looks '' Factory '' .
Thank you
I have to turn my petrol to the off position every time i stop on my yds7 as the carbs will gradually over flow, even then then the inline fuel filters will empty over time, what would you think might be the probable cause,
Hi - can I check this is the correct part number F1719362. Mines a 2.2 2015 Custom - I didn't realise these had intercoolers. fyi - local garage wants to plug in diagnostics and even suggested mouse damage. Thank you so much for this.
How much nm/k apply to the cylinder head bolts? greetings from Chile
Just pm you regarding some bits. Watching this with great interest. Bigger project than you’d think looking at the two engines.
Thanks for this!
I've done a CBR600 fork and swing arm swap. Unfortunately life has been very busy so it's sat for 7 years...
Hey! Do you think, its possible to inspect the rod bearing with only the sump (+ all its contents) removed? I need to inspect them, but I don't want to remove the heads or split the case unless its absolutely necessary.
I can't be 100% but I think it may be possible yes. If the sump, oil pump are removed there is certainly some room but it will be fiddly, and definitely worth a try. You have to be in there anyway to split the cases if you are unable to get at the rod bearings
@@ANDYPEARCY1 yeah, so I´ll try without splitting the cases first, and see how that goes. Thanks!
Doing a lovely Andy, i have one of these, was rebuilt just before i got it, so just restored the bike. I may delve into the engine at some point. Good insight from your work. Thanks for sharing it
Very nice job 👍💪
Hi Andy. Bike is looking great. Is your frame painted or powdercoated? Also, do you happen to know if the original black components are gloss black or a satin black. I'm starting to restore my 83' VF750 and would like to get it back to as original spec if possible.
Hi Matt, my frame was basecoat silver and 2k lacquer. It has been modified lately and when finished it may be powder coated this time, not sure yet. The black components are mainly satin Black. I have many parts for the VF750 including full set of UK spec carbs, perfect working order. A pair of as new forks available soon when I get my new front end in. Rear suspension units etc etc, if you need anything, give me a shout.
@@ANDYPEARCY1 thanks Andy. Assume from the accent you're in the UK up north?
HI Andy, on the Sabre VF65 1100, the cams are placed in time with the same marks? or cylinders 2-4 go with the markings at 45 degrees? Great video! beautiful cat too
Hi Jorge, I have to say I am not 100% on the VF65, as I have never had one apart, but I do believe they are the same sprockets so must be in my opinion.
Were did you get the oil pipe and all the fitments , not even sure what I would be looking for , if eBay what did you search
I still have the oil mod kit. I sold the engine so don't need it
@@ANDYPEARCY1 I've not actually got the VF yet but it's something I would be interested in if you were selling
Hi did you have any thoughts on if you would sell the cam oil mod you did , I've got the VF now and want to try to ensure the motor has longevity, cheers
Hi Dave, yes I will sell the kit from the video. It has the sandwich plate, the pipes with banjos and a new filter. I will also write out the mods I did to the caps if you want to do the same, let me know please @@davidcooper8803
Looked thru the comments but didn’t find any details about the cam cap modification. What diameter did you use to open the passage in the cam caps?
What paint did you use on the engine?? I remember from another video it was Wurth Brand.
Yes, Wurth heat paint
This is going to be a unique bike when it’s finished, and will cause some serious head scratching when people encounter it for the first time. Have got one imported USA VF750F Interceptor, and some of a European bike like yours as a donor bike. Needs a full restoration. Fork stansions are heavily pitted due to being stored by the sea before I got it. So I’m interested in the forks and possibly the carbs too. But I’m on a very tight budget due to disability. So if you need silly money, will have to pass. I’m near Derby by the way.
Hi man, I have carburators for you and one fork, fork is minimum touch in rh bar, and I remove them from my motorcycle but it could be on use yet, this could by a present for you, If you find the way to pick it up. Carbs needs a good cleaning and some interconex pipe as well, I would ask for you 50 pounds for them. What a great work are you doing¡¡¡¡¡ Serg.
@@sergiodominguez1697 Cool. Where are you based?
This is an adventurous build mate. Have watched parts 1 & 6 so far. Thank you for sharing. Did you sell the VF750F engine?
Thanks for your comments, and yes the motor is sold. Still have the carbs, wheels, swing arm, forks etc.
@@ANDYPEARCY1 What are the forks like?
@@G58 As new, I fitted genuine Honda new stanchions, and new seals about 2000 miles ago.
@@ANDYPEARCY1 How much do you want for them?

I couldn't agree more with you about that thermostat for the radiator fan. That's just, as you say, BONKERS!!!!!! Unless, of course, it kicks in at a lower temperature than one near the engine outlet would be.????
No because the temp of the water leaving the engine is the best place to monitor, its already cooler down at the bottom, imagine how hot it would have to get before the fan kicked in....!
@@ANDYPEARCY1 I was agreeing with what you said actually. I guess I didn't word it very well.
Is this motor the same as the 84 Magna VF700 as far as the head gasket replacement and timing chain etc? I'm picking one up tomorrow that has a bad head gasket on the back head. Only 24K miles on in and in AMAZING shape otherwise for 750 bucks US.
As far as I can tell yes, identical in those areas, gaskets and chain. Motor turns backwards though being a shaft drive
i noticed some of the differences between the vf750f & c & s versions.the f has gear drive cams & bucket shims where the c & s have chain drive cams & adjustable followers.& probably more that arent obvious here.nice job.
