The 12th episode in a series of videos looking at the Values of Classic Games from the 90s and early 00s. This time around, instead of grabbing the 20 year old price from a dusty old book, we are grabbing them from a dusty old website! We will take the prices of games as listed on Game Dude 's website in 2004, adjust them for inflation and compare them to the current prices charged by game dude...

@@JohnDoe-wb7fc i know i have never seen it in real life. I have played it on my concerto card.
Wow. I have 14 out of 25 of these boxed
I'm surprised that the English version of "Kizuna Encounter" wasn't on this list. I remember hearing from numerous sources back in the early and mid 2000's that it was the single hardest Neo Geo Aes cartridge to find, and also the most expensive by far. I wonder what changed to make it not even place on the list.
@@kayokango I was using the price guide from a local retro game store. these guides go back nearly 30 years so it makes it easy to compare buy and sell prices over the years. My guess is that Kizuna Encounter was never traded into the store and as such was not included on the price guide. I am not sure how rare this game was in the US, but i know it was very rare in Europe.
You're the man, thank you. I missed the button on the back as well.
Read: Time to buy!!!!
I assumed Crusader of Centy was gonna be number one, cib is literally around the same price as earthbound cib. Looking the range of $1.7k-$2.5k, depending on condition and how complete they are.
@@devinchambers7524 I set this up so it was looking at percentage change over time . Since crusader of century has always been a valuable title it has not gone up in value as much as some of these other games. in retrospect it is kind of a weird way of looking at it, but it made sense to me at the time. ;)
Meanwile, 8 months later, Battle Wheels is minimum $60 loose and $100+ CIB, Todds Adventures in Slime World is minimum $25 loose and $40+ CIB. The times they are a changin'.
@@mitchellazevedo6637 that’s why it is so fun!
I bought Cogswell’s Caper when I was in high school (around 2004) for around $10 CAD. It might have been less, but $10 was my cap for NES games back then. I am shocked at why it’s worth today. It’s my most expensive NES game and I got it on a whim as a teenager because I remembered watching The Jetson’s as a kid!
@@gamegeargirl8086 that is amazing. I don’t think i ever had any games from my child hood that ended up being worth anything. I remember playing duck tales 2 but that might have been a rental.
Since there were only 28 officially released games, identifying the 25 most valuable seems a bit strange. Why you didn't you do "All 28 games ranked in value", I'll never know.
@@MitchellAzevedo-e3x that’s a good point. the main reason is that all my other videos were top 25, the video for the channel F has a similar problem as there was only about 30 games released for it , maybe i will make a directors cut at some point. ;)
I found "mighty final fight" in a stack of my old games ..i knew it was worth a little something...i just have no way to test it at the moment. I also have robocop 3 which is valued around $50-$60. Just need to test them bad boys.
@@pioneerman4417 duuuude those are both pretty rare, nice “basement finds”!
So how about some of the games from the 1980s, with the original machine? Are they worth anything
the majority of these games are from the 1980s. I was just tracking the price changes over the last 20 years.
@@teknohed I know what years that you said you were going through but I was basically what I'm wondering is if any of them that I have are worth money and approximately how much? But thanks getting back to me
@@phyllisgarber7997 without knowing what you have in your collection it is hard to say, but at the moment the top ten most valuable games are as follows: 1. Nether Dragon 2. Mario Bros 3. Skiing 4. Comic Bakery 5. Wizard of Ids wiz math 6. Amazing Bumpman 7. Star Wars Battle of Hoth 8. Alcazar the Forgotten Fortress 9. Adventures of Pink Panther 10. Fireman Those games are all worth big bucks!

Is some of the mvs games are high now I've seen one for 1800 a couple of thousand is crazy with the whole kit🤦🏾🕹🎮😀👍🏾
You must be talking about mvs games cuz the aes games are fighting 3 English is about 1500 maybe more you must be talking about all mvs games not AES games cuz AES games are in the thousands of dollars range depending on what title it is🤦🏾🎮🕹😀👍🏾
game dude’s price guide doesn’t specify but i assume it was aes as i am not sure a retail store can buy and sell mvs, but you are right those price guides are under priced
Did you say game dude that's one of my favorite stores always go to but don't nobody sell no games to game dude no more because of eBay and other apps that sells the games outrageously for the high prices 🎮🕹😀👍🏾
I have a complete collection in orginal boxes. If you or anyone know anyone interested lmk

@@JOBSLOV2 yeah, i think i triggered it when i grabbed a spin metal thing that was right on top of it. I didn’t even notice the “remains” and then i was like what the heck was that? i assume this is related to the ol “loot cave” and Grasp of Avarice. I had never heard it before
Great content
This makes me feel unreasonably old
Newbies
Previous year I sold a Sengoku 3 aes brandnew for $2200 dollars :) strange that you did not mentioned Matrimelee ?
Oooo that is a good question. I was going off of the Game Dude price guide from early 2004. Martimelee was not included on it likely because that game was only a year or so old by then and had not ever been resold by Game Dude. I bet that one goes for a lot, i will have to look it up. also, sengoku games are so great. 2K is a small price to pay to own a true classic!
I am nearly finished collecting for the Sega Saturn (which I am very proud of accomplishing) and have some of the really big heavy hitters for the TurboGrafx/PC Engine CD, but I won't ever collect for the AES. It's just too much. I will probably get a handful of Neo Geo CD games for my PolyMega and call it a day.
@@medmuscle yeah neo geo cd is a good alternative, but boy those games are getting pricy too.
Same graphics, sound and game play but with some added slowdown. Neo Geo was a scam then and collecting for Neo Geo is a scam now. You can literally get most of these games on consoles, arcade perfect for less than $9.00 U.S.D. each or you can get the entire collection free via emulator. Most Neo Geo games were pretty lame gameplay & design wise.
more neo geo games for me i guess. what system do you like?
There's not been a single 'arcade perfect' port of Neo Geo games on any of those old consoles (and emulation isn't a port, so that doesn't count anyway). I remember people claiming that nonsense about Fatal Fury Special on the PC Engine, so I reviewed it myself and it wasn't anywhere near perfect.
@@teknohed Switch, NES, PS1, Saturn. Those were the consoles I liked. The Neo Geo had more power to display more sprites, better colors and better sound but it was NOT like playing games made for the arcade. The games were very limited outside of better colors and graphics when compared to other home consoles. The SNES was a lot weaker but the games were made a lot better than most Neo Geo games. Not to mention Neo Geo games get boring and old extremely fast. That shows how poorly they were designed. Most Neo Geo games get boring within 30 minutes or less.
@@RedArremer PS1 & PS2 are old consoles and Metal Slug 1 & X for ps1 was very close to arcade perfect for $39.99. Cheaper if you bought it used. Even better on the Sega Saturn. Most have all of those games via emulation. Emulation could be considered a close enough port .
@@CEEPMDEE i don’t think anyone spending thousands of dallers is looking for “good enough”. the fact that you can have the same game at home with no compromises is very unique. I agree there are lots of ways to play these games for less, but for collectors it isn’t always about saving money. so to each their own i guess.
You obviously dont know anything about these games or never genuinely looked for them: they are wayyy more expansive than that!!!! Youbre specualist dude who told you the prices is a typical neogeo crook: he lowers downbthe prices to make the prices advantageous for himself... classical manipulation
Good list! Looking forward to getting my 7800+. And gonna get some neat classic and homebrew cartridges for it.
@@captainbeastazoid7084 I am so hype for the 7800+ i really hope whatever the hardware inside it is will play the games accurately (i.e. in the right aspect ratio, without lag, correct sound, etc). will be so seeet to play these games in hdmi.
I want this
What surprised me was your counting skills bro 😂 great video well done but the numbers man… 🤦🏽♂️ 19,000??? 1900…
@@CGoldmill-dz4gk just leaving easter eggs for you guys to find. ;)
@@teknohed hell yeah 😂 like I said awesome video though two thumbs up!!! You were doing percentages and it threw me off…
Glad i shelled out the cost of the neo sd pro. Essentially pays for itself 100 times over looking at those prices 😳
@@11Eighty6 I have the MVS version. It isn’t cheap, but it’s waaaaay cheaper than buying these carts one at a time.
Is that Game Dude located in LA? Thank God for emulation
yeah after doing a few of these videos i am kinda left thinking that emulation might be the best solution for a lot of people who just want to play these games.
This was another system I only because I could get the system and a bunch of games for cheap. Iron Soldier and the Syndicate ports were my favorites as a kid.
lowest priced Atari Karts on Ebay at the time of this comment is 270$
Sounds like it'd be a good idea to go over to Game Dude and pick up a cart since they are so below market value!
Same thing I was thinking. I was watching Atari Karts myself at $270. Can’t find the Atari listings on gamedude. If they have it I want it
He's back!🎉
Bro when are we playing those games?!? Let’s critique.
@@Eclecticwitch1 it took me about two months to finally finish this video, my output has slowed down since i became employed again

The Metal Slug prices are nowhere near that low. Definitely way off. A Metal Slug sold recently for 17k Euro in Switzerland.
@@DNASlotCars well, as i explained in the video there are a lot of places you can take pricing data from, i wanted to compare apples to apples to i took the price lists from a game dude which is one of LA’s oldest game shops. They have been posting prices online since the late 90s so it’s a good place to see the price trends. I compared their price lists from 2004 to a current price list. Why isn’t their price the same as a sale in switzerland? That’s a question for Game Dude’s price guide author. I am just reporting on the data as I see it.
I passed on the AES back in the early 90’s feeling the Genesis & Super Nintendo had comparable titles so I didn’t need the NeoGeo. A couple decades later I would purchase the NeoGeo CMVS Slim from Analogue which started my NeoGeo adventure which ultimately led me to buying a CIB AES (North America) console now a much appreciated part of my collection. My favorite titles I physically own are: Viewpoint, Last Resort, Ninja Commando, Top Hunter, Spinmaster & Metal Slug 4
wow, that's a nice collection of games. Back in the day I didn't get an AES because it was way to expsensive for me as a high school kid. I have an OMVS now, but the only cart i have is bust a move. I have a NEO SD. I'd like to get some more recently released homebrew games like Xenocrisis and Kraut Buster on MVS cart if I could find them. I think most of the other MVS carts I would want are going to be out of my price range.
It just feels wrong to be look at games from a monetary perspective, It is well and good if that is where you come at gaming from but as I said it just feels...wrong.
@@heilong79 As a collector, unless you are very rich, you will have to think about the value of the games you collect as you buy and sell. Personally i think it is pretty interesting to see the games change value over time, always curious as to why one game or system becomes crazy expensive while another does not. Doesn’t mean that is the only way to look at games, but for me anyway, it was interesting enough to make a video about. i love games and love all kinds of videos, let’s plays, easter eggs, histories, and development analysis, collecting is only one way to interact with games and i agree that it ain’t the only way.
Awesome haul 👌 but I'm actually curious have you opened up your Castlevania Requiem box set? Does it include a poster and a soundtrack selection CD or is it just the game disc? 32:50
I actually haven't opened it yet. It is pretty light, I bet it is just the game. I am leaving it sealed for now, but I'll ask LRG and see what they say.
