I just realised throughout the show there are so many scenes where you see it in Derek's face, the worry he has for Meredith. Like in season 4 when she was roaming around the hospital with her Mother's ashes, the time an officer was searching for her, the time she ruined the trial, the time that ambulance turned over, the time internal bleeding started after her C section, the whole time she was pregnant, the time after she drowned. It was just him thinking, 'please god protect this woman I love so much, because if anything happens to her I will literally not know how to even breathe, let alone live'

Mark is whey more better they stuck with this story until End his Contract or whatever and then they hooked up Meredith with two Idiot's expecialy DeLuca that was really desperate move from Writer's.You can't just so after Show aired they where together constantly and they espect that audience embrace that. Better that they leave her alone with her kid's. It's just stupid.
Meredith was suicidal. She used to get overwhelmed with feelings. And to keep protecting herself she won't tell Derek things. Be closed off and then telling him she loves him. He loved her but at this point she was not ready to be loved. She was struggling with herself being worthy of love. So Derek asks her once and for all to tell him if she is with him to stay. To be together for better or for worse. But she was not ready. So she deflected his question here. Because her last hope was that if Cristina gets her happily ever after, she can too be loved. Maybe she can too be happy. But when Burke left, her hope of happily ever after left. So she ended it with Derek.

Derek loved and adored Meredith with all of his heart, he could never let go of her no matter the situation. When Meredith said that she needs to get Cristina down the aisle, Derek’s heart broke because he wanted her more then anything but Meredith couldn’t put her feelings into words, which was understandable. Throughout their entire relationship, Derek has always loved and adored Meredith with everything in his body, he would always worry about how she was and he knew her facial expressions. They loved each other so much, they deserved a better ending to their love story.
Here's the thing too if Meredith has to make sure that Christina goes down that aisle and marry Burke that means she really don't wanna marry him. She has always said that they had nothing in common but medicine. He loved her more than she loved him so I knew it wasn't happening.

I think Meredith wanted to be with him but she was too scared to trust him and love him incase they were to break up. Cristina is her other half and seeing your best friend getting married to someone who is older than them and who is also their boss is a big thing. Meredith wanted to be sure that relationships like hers and Derek’s would actually last and workout and when she saw her best friend getting left at the altar she thought that they wouldn’t work and was scared of commitment. After her therapy, she realised that she didn’t want to be with anyone else but Derek, she loved him so much that even when they weren’t together all she could think about was him. As soon as she realised how much she loves him and means to her she knew that she had to go and get him back. Meredith was always scared to trust and commit but Derek helped her to trust him and he bought out the bright and shiny in her whilst keeping her dark and twisty. Meredith loved Derek with everything she had just like Derek did with Meredith, it just took Meredith a little longer to trust him and trust that the would work out and would survive.
you can honestly just tel that she wished she had the words, but she had to put the faith in something so she put it in Cristina's love life. "I need to get cristina down that aisle" She never seen a success in the love industry for anyone in her life so she needs to see her twisted half so that she knows that she can too y'know
His face on 1:19 when she's telling him she needs to go to Cristina's wedding...wow...so sad, like he can't believe it, so heartbroken :( I honestly don't know why she didn't say anything about her feelings. He was tired of her leaving, and being absent sometimes, he tries to understand her, but he's in pain, that's why he says "put me out of misery", like, "I want to be with you, but I'm not sure you do, so please, just tell me, stop hurting me". He's not perfect and he has acted like a jerk many times, but I do understand what he means, I've been in that position...
Keep in mind Meredith has abandonment issues. Her father left when she was a child. Daddy issues 2.0. Like she said the more available he becomes the more she pushes away
Let's keep in mind that Derek left her first for Addison and then also called her a whore, she wanted to be with him that time but had to see him being with addison. She was in pain seeing that. Feeling the pain of getting abandonment...
