    “In this supreme hour the Irish nation must, by its valour and discipline, and by the readiness of its children to sacrifice themselves for the common good, prove itself worthy of the august destiny to which it is called.” It was from that moment."A terrible beauty was born." are still relevant today, as they remind us of the sacrifices and struggles of the Irish people, and of the ideals and values that they fought for. They also challenge us to uphold those ideals and values, and to work for peace and justice in our world. 🕊️ RIP Steven Mulvey. Robert Joseph Mulvey. James Arthur Mulvey. Patrick Mulvey. GPO 1916. Please can someone explain to me in simple english why the Irish were taken as slaves,by whom and for how long.

    • @undeadsnowman4014
      @undeadsnowman4014 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sulejman Avdic The Irish were originally taken as slaves around the 16th century by king James the 2nd the first large group were captured rebels but eventually women and children were taken in large numbers they were the first slaves for the New World they were treated like cattle the Irish were hated because they were Catholic and there land was to be taken for colonists in Britain.

      @Formsquad 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sulejman Avdic They were conquered by English during the Middle Ages. After English and Scots became Protestant, Irish remain Catholic so Irish were oppressed. Irish weren't allowed to vote or hold public office due to their religion. There were also massacres against Irish by British.
