Great, thanks
I appreciate your effort, but you are SO wrong. You don't know how to read a meter and you are measuring expecting <100 ohms without pressing the button! Your meter was never set to milli ohms, it was telling you it was auto ranging to Meg ohms and OL meant overload, meaning infinite = open. No difference when you measured pin 1 and 4 because you never pressed the button!
I said Milli and I should have said 100 MOhms. Thanks for catching that. Here are the directions. With the button not pressed, you should measure an open circuit (resistance greater than 100 Mohms). When pressed, resistance should be less than 100 ohms. If readings are not correct, replace the keypad. Otherwise, replace the display board.
Very helpful it definitely works . I was wondering where you got the performance factors you had in your phone.
I have no idea that was 7 years ago. I believe I just did a search.
How are you doing, sir? Could you make a video of the service cart you use daily? That would be great!
Sure, I'll make a video Tuesday.
The one thing I’m struggling with is, as I suspect anyone that’s dosing with liquid chlorine, that I’m constantly adding more chlorine throughout the day (Rolachem) so doesn’t that reintroduction of fresh chlorine keep those levels higher? In any case, I’m going to turn my Rolachem acid side off and test my water at 10:00 pm at night. I’m introducing CL at intervals during the day using a smart WiFi switch with a schedule on an app on my phone. Still using a Rolachem feeder but plugged into a smart WiFi plug. On @10am off at 11 back on at 12, on/off like that for all the daylight hours until 7:30 when dosing of CL stops. I introduce muriatic acid at 8:00 in the morning 2 hours before the CL just so they never mix. I’m not sure if it helps but my Acid injector is up stream from the CL injector in hopes that the acid concentrated return water will help keep the CL injector a bit cleaner as it tends to clog up after a few months of use. Thanks again for your help. I like your test method recognizing the importance of gathering empirical data when looking for answers.
Didn't realize you had the acid dispenser as well. Thats the problem with those acid dispensers, the sensors over adjust the acid BC they are picking up the fresh chlorine entering the pool. I never use them. I just use the chlorine dispenser and adjust the acid myself.
@@swimmingpoolchemistrydoner5569 actually, I don’t have sensors in the acid or CL side. I’m using a smart switch with an app on my phone that I’ve calculated (on@ 8:00am and off at 9:30 AM. to dose 8oz a day of muriatic acid. I think the settings on the Rola Chem is 2. My CL the same but comes on @ 10am then a bunch of on/offs like 30-60 minutes at a time but off by 7:30PM. My CYA is about 60. I’m trying to introduce the CL intermittently throughout the day. I think it ends up being about 1 to 1 1/2 gallons a week. When I set this up, 2 years back, I calculated it out based on Rolachem’s table and the amount of run time from the smart switch.
I installed this about 1 1/2 years ago. It has its positives and negatives. Liquid chlorine has a higher PH than the tables. As a result the PH goes higher resulting in adding more muriatic acid. I’m adding about 8oz a day with another Rolachem system. The Chlorine side will crystallize and clog the check valve over time. After about 90 days I replace or clean. The hoses are not forever and need to be replaced every so often (6 months to a year), sorry I lost track. It also appears the liquid chlorine may be also increasing my total dissolved solids. At least that’s what the Leslie’s pool guy tells me. Another downside is the closer handling of the chemicals. When replacing these hoses and check valves you’ll need gloves. If you allow a check valve to go too long without service the back pressure can punch a pin hole in the hose and you are spaying chlorine in your pool pump area instead of in the pool. It appears, with all that said, that I still prefer this to the tablets and those cyanotic acid levels rapidly rising. I still use a floater with one tablet a week just to boost CL levels and raise the CYA level to the desired amount.
Five years ago I did a video on that. The small pH rise from the chlorine will go down the following day. It is only temporary. Check out the video. No need to add extra acid.
@@swimmingpoolchemistrydoner5569 I need to look for that video for sure. But if the PH goes down the next day won’t it just go up again after another full day of dosing with liquid chlorine?
@@Dlemonaid If you're dosing with a Rola-Chem only I highly doubt it will go up at all. When I added 8 ppm chlorine to the test the pH only went up 2 points. Then it came back down the following day to match the other bucket. If your pH keeps coming up look at things that cause aeration.
Is this app still available in android?
@JohnLaurenceAlcantara it isn't, the App owner passed away awhile back so they pulled off Android. But I believe it's still on for Apple. 🤷♂️🤔
@@swimmingpoolchemistrydoner5569 awww sad to hear. i hope there’s a way where we can still download it in android
Very knowledgeable. I'm a pool guy in Florida. Wondering if this will lower my usage of chlorine and acid? Save me money?
You might save a little on Chlorine, but you need at least twice the acid now to move the pH. Borates buffers the pH in both directions so you will use more Acid to lower the pH. I have more info on my instagram.
It looks so much better done right, but that could just be the tech in me talking.
@@Taolan8472 couldn't agree more. 👍💯
Isn't it a nono to use galvanized pipe on gas lines?
@@JalopyTechnology Per the Uniform Plumbing Code It is fine.
What is that wand you are using where do I get one?
That is the Val Pak Algae Gun. You can find them on Amazon.
Very nice screw pipe is hard to work with
@theodorepetine7562 Thanks! Yes I agree with you about the pipe.
I love the knowledge you have, but I’m struggling trying to understand the gallons in the pool using google maps. Trying to figure out the math part of it.
Lets say your deep end is 8 ft deep and shallow end is 3 ft deep. Total is 11 now divide that by 2 and you have 5.5 average depth. The 7.48 is the amount of gallons in a cubic foot of water. Now take the surface area, lets say 477 X our 5.5 average X 7.48 = 19,623 gallons. thanks for your comment.
That is a lot of dirt. You should create a video on how long it takes you to clean a pool like this. Actual time.
It takes around 20 min to vac a pool like that. Then it needs to be brushed after.
Can you create a video on how long it takes you to clean an entire pool.
Pool companies are scammers
Showing one spot and not how to do entire pool areas on the bottom and sides not easily reached . Useless video .
@@DaisySun4 you do realize that is a spot remover and has absolutely nothing to do with the entire pool. 🤦♂️
thank you for this very helpful video. Was your actuator actually not working and had to be replaced? I'm having an issue where my water feature (waterfall) is dripping even when I have the feature off on my app. I'm assuming its a diverter issue or orings need to be replaced, however, my actuator is still working normally, so I don't know where to start. Any advice?
This wasn't closing all the way. Check to see if it's closing all the way, if it is then check your Diverter to see if it's warn out.
Where can i get the complete table you showed us?
Search for Bob Lowry Pool Chemistry For Residential Pools on Amazon.
I have no skimmer on oir small plunge pool so where do you suggest i add the de?
@williamswindle7047 my guess would be you have a cartridge filter. They don't require DE. Hard to say I don't know your setup.
Just do boric acid cheaper than buying all that borax and acid👍 and you don't even have to prep beforehand other than pH to 7.6 and alkalinity 80-100
About six years ago we used Borax BC Boric Acid wasn't available yet. The pic where I'm broadcasting is Boric Acid. Yes Boric Acid at 50 ppm will lower your pH by 2 points. Thanks for your comment.
Great job plumbing 😮 I need that equipment 😢
What was the tool to clean out the fitting from the existing 2in pipe and have you had any problems? Like leaks?
@@MadLawperformance Clean Ream Extreme® Plastic Pipe Fitting Reamers by Reed. Also the Cone Chamfer Tool by Reed. Zero leaks. After reaming the pipe take a wet towel to cool it down BC it will expand a little. The cold rag will contract it back down.
Thank you! check out the comment below yours. I mentioned who makes them.
How come you couldn't just add it to the skimmer
The biggest reason is BC it's a type of acid and that wouldn't be good for the heater.
Why the pool filter first?
Definitely done correctly. Thanks! Link to where I can buy bulk package of the correct size orings replacement. Thanks! :)
I like that plunger, need to get one!!
How long is that primate pool? I need to get one asap

@@swimmingpoolchemistrydoner5569 Thanks for your videos. I'm curious about what made you switch to the Hyperpole? I'm considering buying one of the two options
You don't mention whether Sulfuric or muriatic acid
Sorry about that. Its for Muriatic Acid. This is from my Instagram channel and everyone knows what I use there. I didn't think about it, thanks for the comment.
Thank you for your reply. Continue with your continued information. Always helpful.
Nice. I had no idea about baking soda and I happen to have a bag like yours in my basement.
Just a more natural way to raise the alkalinity.🙂
Hey pal I’ve been watching your vids from the day we found Bob Lowry I have a 20k SWG pool and I been balancing my pool since one year after it was finished thanks to guys like you and bob god rest his soul , anyways I love your vids when your doing the test with cya & borates calcium miss them bud thanks for sharing all your knowledge 👍🏻
You're Welcome. I post a lot more on Instagram.
Acid and chlorine don’t mix? Am I missing something?
I'm only adding acid. But yes never pour acid and chlorine in the same area or mix the two together.
It's OK to add acid in a pool once the chlorine has been circulating, if that's what you're asking. Just never pour them both on top of one another.
I thought we weren’t supposed to add acid to spas? At least that’s what I was taught. Pls explain.
I just installed the Rola Chem Pro 303 digital. Does it need a cover over it? I called and spoke with Rola Chem and they told me that it isn't outdoor item but they would prefer to have a cover over it to keep it from direct contact with the elements.
If you get a lot of direct sun, then yes covering it would help the pinch tube last longer. If you have it outside you will be replacing the hoses a little more often than being inside. Still well worth having.
You’ve convinced me on being even more careful thank you sir! And that explains where all my chlorine went!
You're Welcome!
Google doesn't show area anymore - darn
Yeah I just checked, thats BS
Can you over aerate the water. Example leaving it aerated for like 30 days.
No, you just make sure you adjust the pH with acid when needed. Spa spillways run everyday and people like their water features running as well. Just keep track of the pH.
I run my CYA at 30ppm, and a feeder. Yes I use some more chlorine. These higher CYA levels increase slow chlorine effectiveness.
Is that muriatic acid he’s putting in?
Yes I'm adding muriatic acid to offset the higher 9 pH of Sodium Tetraborate.
What is the name of the tool you use on the Drill? Thank you sir Great Vidoe!
Reed Chamfer Tool. find it on Reeds site or search amazon. CONE CHAMFER TOOL - DRILL POWERED OR MANUAL
Your secret is safe with me...
Got to love all the pool guys in my area, they swear up and down that you must run your pump 12 hours a day...
Thanks
you're welcome
This is not done correctly do not shove all that wire into your load center. Pull the wire out of the actuator and leave a couple feet as a service loop then cut it and connect it back in the actuator
Not done correctly, yeah OK. You just gave an opinion nothing more. If you want to cut the wire shorter, fine. If not that is fine too. Absolutely nothing wrong with doing it this way.
Thank you for this. I have a pentair 250. Everything seems to be working and heat coming out the vent but no heated water out of the jets?
5 gallon paint bucket with lid is much cheaper than a branded reservoir that needs modification.
I usually use an empty 5 gallon chem bucket with locking lid but Rola-Chem gave me that and wanted me to use it. Thanks for the comment!
Calcium needs to be at at about 240. You're okay where it is. If 480, check your tap water. If its high drain half to 2/3 of the water and refill. Then re check.
This is a how to video for those that want a fast way to figure out how much water to drain. I teach water chemistry on my Instagram channel. A 240 Calcium is good for a chlorine in the summer time. If you have a salt pool the calcium should be at least 300 to 350 to offset the high TDS from the salt. Thanks for your comment.
