Deepak Friend, Mitr please read this.From Tibetan Buddhist PRACTITIONERS point of REALIZATION. In practice it is revealed mind has layers. The first layer of the mind is EGO PERSONALITY which is programmed in us by society, culture, religion or some other philosophy, academia, one's own personal experiences, etc etc. The nucleus or center of this EGO MIND is the I or intellect. Mindfulness is on the level of EGO MIND to ground and center the EGO MIND thus the intellect or I is focused outward in the now in Mindful practice. In the second practice the intellect or I starts to observe its own psychological content meaning fabric of EGO PERSONALITY; Thoughts, feelings, emotions, concepts etc etc. Thus IN CONSCIOUSNESS PRACTICE EGO MIND IS TURNED UPON ITSELF, IT'S FOCUS IS INWARD. This INNER PRACTICE instigates the process of Consciousness (to be conscious of content of ego mind) This second practice leads to transcending the EGO PERSONALITY LAYER OF MIND; meaning what ever is observed is transcended and EGO MIND starts to dismantle and next layer of mind meaning CONSCIOUSNESS LAYER OF MIND THAT is CONSCIOUS of the EGO MIND starts to reveal itself. Thus in actual practice Consciousness layer of mind is revealed for it is already present but initially obscured or covered up by EGO LAYER OF MIND. In consciousness practice finally when 99% of the EGO MIND is transcended then the last remnant of the ego mind is left which is the I or intellect or the practitioner or the instigator of this process of Consciousness. At this point the will to die to as I, as Intellect the nucleus of EGO MIND or SURRENDERING the intellect is needed for the truth that its beyond the EGO MIND which is 100% pure Consciousness. Meaning The state of mind which is CONSCIOUS of the whole psychological fabric of EGO MIND including the intellect. INTELLECT arises in this state of pure consciousness and dissolves like the clouds arise and dissolve in the background of blue sky. The background state is the pure consciousness. Thus so far two layers of mind has been discussed EGO PERSONALITY LAYER OF MIND AND CONSCIOUSNESS LAYER OF MIND which transcends the EGO MIND. Beyond CONSCIOUSNESS LAYER OF MIND is SHUNYATA ESSENCE of mind this is the great discovery of Siddharth Gautam the BUDDHA. This is where true Buddhism begins. Please note ESSENCE OF MIND is SHUNYATA which means it is made of NO THING yet it has WAKEFULNESS as its inherent quality known as Rigpa in Tibetan this is DZOGCHEN Teachings. Realizing Shunyata essence of mind that it is made o NO THING meaning SHUNYA Buddhist practitioner realizes the idea that someone created us is false. Because to think that SHUNYATA essence of mind that transcends, form, energy has a creator is obsolete. Some Scientists, unfortunately who think they are very clever are trapped in intellect and think, through intellect they will know the truth that transcends intellect. Reminds me of my Guru Maha Siddha Tilopa who said Intellect is the root of ignorance for it can never know the mind that is beyond it because Intellect is an obstacle to even second layer of mind pure Consciousness let alone Shunyata essence of Mind. Truth of Consciousness can not be known through intellect for it is beyond the intellect, and intellect needs to dissolve. In this process there are two deaths involved to false state of mind before we get to the truth of SHUNYATA. Death to false self the ego personality and death to Consciousness that obscures Shunyata essence of mind. Death to consciousness is accomplished through Transmission from a teacher who has this realization. For at Consciousness self effort is exhausted. PEACE AND LOVE to ALL.
