You can join the discord (link in the description of this vid) and ask in the #gameplay-help channel if you want a more in-depth answer, but it's called a coyote jump. Basically if you enter the air without jumping then spin, and jump right as you start spinning, then the game just gives you a second jump because it's giving you coyote frames for some reason lol. And "entering the air without jumping" basically means like walking/sliding off a ledge, hitting a bounce pad (without formally jumping *on to* the bounce pad), getting knocked into the air by hitting a checkpoint (very niche but yeah), etc. That's why I just awkwardly walked on to the bounce pad there.

Also if you're learning the speedrun the discord linked in the description will be completely invaluable, I highly recommend joining. (Even if you're not learning the speedrun, it's still neat to see some of the stuff posted there if you like the game imo.)

It's called a skyeboost. Basically you jump off a lilypad, hop on the water a couple times, then don't touch anything and when you run out of speed on the water, the game just launches you cause it thinks you're still on the lilypad you jumped off of. If you're not running on the wall you'd have a hard time skipping the last pol to land on the ledge, but I'm not sure.

mayyybe it'd be faster idk. I think what dildino is saying is right, like I think the timesave from skipping the wallruns vs the timesave from skipping the last pole is not worth, but maybe it's worth timing?

@@Jaspev I'd time it regardless, just to see. perhaps jumping off the first pole. then wallrunning off the second pole would work? the timesave would be miniscule either way

You have to super off the shredder and just spin and jump right after you start losing height from the super. If you can coyote in other places than you should be able to super here. True, I think that was over a minute lost, I had no idea if there was any way to save that other than doing slide all over again. This time can be improved sooooo much.

@@FishBola1991 It was found on accident by Skye in the main big catch discord, then Teddy really figured out how to replicate it, then the big catch speed running discord really solved it. Carrot explains the mechanics behind it in their 10 fish speedrun guide, but basically you jump off a lilypad and then waterhop like 2-3 times, then you stop pressing everything and it launches you. The game still thinks you're on the lilypad when you start hopping on the water, so every jump is influencing the lilypad to spin, and it spins *really* fast. Then when you run out of speed to run on water, the game puts you in the jump state for some reason, and the lilypad rotation is put on the player in just the form of speed, and you get launched.
