What a lovely soirée it was, celebrating our vibrant Dominican culture alongside gracious and appreciative guests! I'm deeply honored to have had the opportunity to showcase our Dominican-inspired menu to a group of remarkable women in Orange County, just south of Los Angeles. At the invitation of my dear friend Yvonne, from Dominica, I delighted in sharing our culinary heritage with her close-knit circle as well as preparing a hearty meal. Among the highlights was a captivating demonstration on crafting plantain cups. preparing a Guinness chocolate cake in about 45 minutes, and signing books.
My sous chefs for the evening were none other than my talented 16-year-old, Yvonne's equally skilled teenager, and Yvonne herself. Laughter and great conversation filled the air as we indulged in delightful dishes, like ripe plantains with goat cheese and basil, codfish balls with a signature passionfruit infused sauce, exquisite beverages from the creative mixologist, and the warmth of exceptional company.
I am immensely grateful for the chance to continue sharing our rich culture with the ever-curious people as I continue to talk about our food and what makes Dominica unique. Thank you so so much, Yvonne for opening your lovely home to me and trusting me to share with your AMAZING friends 🙏🏾😀
