Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. Love your playing too
Rob Chapman totally destroy the brand even the man who put the money dont show the guitar as used to,
Like him or not dude, the guitars are great! Thanks for watching mate 🤘
Both is the answer
I'd have to agree mate! Thanks for watching 🤘
came out neat man
Thank you my dude, I'm really glad you liked it! Appreciate you checking out the video 🤘
Shitxico garbage josé
I love a nice guitar back , especially for the belly. Yes I was skinny person as a youth in the 80s and 90s but you WILL GET a belly the older you get.
I’m with you, guitar backs are just as important as the front! Thank you so much for watching! 🤘
I have been wanting a Solar Guitar for several years now, but the stories of the QC issues and the fact they are made in Indo have held me back. The one model I was really looking at is no longer on their website. Bring back the AB1.6 ROP+ Ola! Nice video man, thanks for it! Cheers from the U.S.A.
If you're thinking about one dude I'd so do it, they're great things. Hope you find one you like mate and thanks for watching. I appreciate it massively 🤘
What a beautiful choice of notes in that solo… I don’t know if that was an original piece, but it was beautiful man (and I don’t give it up easy ;)
Thank you so much mate! That demo track turned into the title track from my first EP, Distance. Both the solos in this video were improvised though. I really appreciate the kind words man, cheers! 🤘
I don’t think I would have sent it back either. I would have contacted the shop and seen what they said about it as you did. As much as it’s very much Schecter’s fault, it’s a big fail on the shop’s part too and would make me hesitate to buy from them again. There shouldn’t be tooling marks but at the same time they wouldn’t bother me at all, it shows it’s made from wood. The rusty screw is really bad and should have been spotted but at least is easy to replace. I’d have been most bothered about the chip on the top which I guess will be hard to fix… I guess that’s the risk with guitars that have a nice finish and if you play it often enough you’ll probably add more dings of your own and then it won’t matter
That was exactly my thinking too dude. Thanks so much for checking out the video! 🤘
Love this, Dude 🤟 Absolutely amazing!
That means a ton to me man, thanks so much! 🤘
I wish the Boden Essential was available left handed Get another one for a mod project and swirl dip it!
I'd put money on lefties coming dude. I think the initial release being so successful shows the desire for it. Put it this way, if they don't drop a leftie essential I think they're missing out but they seem to be one step ahead at all times. They are sick as mod platforms, I'm planning the mods for mine as we speak haha Cheers bro, hope you're doing good 🤘
That’s amazing you’ve got real talent, all support to you man 🤘
Thank you mate, that's kind of you to say. Cheers 🤘
Sounds like drop D, do you ever drop your Strandbergs lower? I don't think I have ever heard of someone doing any downtunings on them?
It is dude! The first and second EPs are both in drop D but currently I’m writing in Drop C# on my Prog with the trem (using 11 gauge strings) and it feels awesome. I’ve got the Boden Essential in drop C atm too and it feels great. From what I can tell, they could easily tune lower but I don’t want to make changes to my nut slots. The lowest I tend to see on the 6 strings is drop C# though, admittedly.
Amazing, as always. Greetings from Mexico city
Thank you so much bro 🤘
One of my favorite guitarist! Love your sound/playing style brotha 💙
Thanks you so much bro, that really does mean a huge amount to me 🙇🏻♂️🤘
Fantastic playing sir! Crackin tone and that geetar looks ace! :) All round goodness is this, nicely done :)
Cheers mate, I really appreciate the kind words! Hope you’re well mate, thanks again 🤘
More respect for plini, MTFR
Yes, exactly. That’s my point bro 😁
that toothpick is giving you +250 groove points
Awesome! Not much else to say that the chap above hasn’t already said. Loving seeing your progression over the last few years. ❤
Thank you so much mate, it means a ton that you like it and that you've been around to see what's going on. I appreciate you dude 🤘
I can’t put into words how stoked I am for you my friend !! I know you may not think it , but this is really well written to me . Sure it takes some metal and prog archetypes and uses them to compose a song . However your melodic playing and the solo section have become a lot more exciting ! This is totally my opinion and I’m sorry if it comes across rude. By the way your tone is KILLER!! anyway I’m proud of you Jack! Dude. You inspire me !!! Ps. I liked EP 1 very much!! It’s just that to me this particular song hits me in a different way that makes me feel more emotional and also the solos are hyping me up! It’s my opinion and not fact but I just want you to know that you’re doing an amazing job !! I really badly want to record an EP and I think I’ll have to just tAke my ideas and get the cheapeSt audio interface possible so I can finally record in high quality ! You inspire me a lot ! Apologies if I write too much. I’m hoping this new EP is more successful !!! :)
Thank you my dude! Don't worry, none of that came across as rude. It's a huge compliment to me that you think this is an improvement on the 1st EP 'cause I'm always trying to move forward a little with each thing I put together. So, thank you man for being honest about what you think. I really appreciate it! In terms of the success of the music I put out, I'm not really bothered 😂 If people like it then that's amazing but I'm making music because I want to, anything else is a bonus. Besides, I could do more with the marketing side of music but that's really not something I can be bothered with right now haha If you want to get your music written and out man there's not better time than right now. Use what you've got, put something together, and you can only get better from there. Starting is the hardest part. Thank you mate, hope you're well 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars thank you Jack! Youre welcome my dude ! I will reply a bit more later today :)
Great job
Thanks so much my dude! 🤘
🔥🔥
Thank you!!! 🤘😁
Nice job 👌 love that guitar
Thanks so much dude! Me too man, definitely my joint top guitar 🤘
amazing review honestly, not a seven string but I got myself the omen elite 6 FR also in blue and it plays amazingly I love it sm. Great vid I had to subscribe ❤❤
Awesome man, congrats on the sick guitar! Thank you dude, I really appreciate it 🤘
Sold, gettin one
Hope you enjoy it man! Thanks for watching 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars Thanks!
What pickup positions does it have in its 5 way switch?
As far as I know dude it's the standard bridge > bridge split > middle > neck split > neck. Thanks for watching mate! 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars Is it good to use bridge split instead of full bridge for heavy rhythm?
I think that's a personal taste thing man. I prefer a full humbucker for heavy rhythm and splits for less driven parts. The guitar sounded good though in all positions.
Bought a Silverburst Custom for $629 and didn't care for it much. The flat D carve actually hurt my wrist and hand so much I stopped playing it. After over 4 years, I finally grabbed an Olive Tiger Gloss Burst LP Prophecy. With a Gator hardcase for $889. When I saw the prices on the new ones that just released, I figured its now or never. $1199 with a gigbag? Not! Totally agree with the feels like an SG comment. My first new Epiphone was an SG Modern. This Les Paul Prophecy balances and plays exactly the same. Thats why I chose it over any of the other Prophecy models. The modern weight relief and 4 pot controls, are an added bonus. I thoroughly enjoy my AJ sigs. But thats another story for another day. Peace!
I'm with you dude, the carve on the customs is a bit of a love it or hate it thing. Glad you got your prophecy though and it's feeling good for you and you also got a solid deal too! Thanks my dude 🤘
Have you tried the Petrucci? Some good rhythm and great lead tones, however I still probably lean towards Plini for leads. Fortune nameless x also has some incredible heavy riff tone abilities
I haven't dude, no! I do want to have a go on Petrucci and Abasi but I'm kind of set at the moment with stuff that I like. Maybe for the next music I release I'll give them a try. The Nameless does seem sweet too. Thanks for the pointers man 🤘
Nice guitar. I have one. I traded away my old LPC in the early 80s and went the Strat/Tele route. Since I have come back to the humbucker world I have tried in vain to make split coils sound acceptable. Not even good, just ok enough that a bar full of drunks couldn't tell the difference. Actually the closest to a decent single coil sound that I've been able to get is with the could weird in parallel. That's playing clean, of course. Through a big muff you probably couldn't hear the difference with your ears. So now I use a LPC and a Standard for humbuckers and one of several Teles and Strats for single coil. Plus a Riviera for the mini humbucker sound. That's a really good sound, incidentally. Great review, thanks for the video!
Thanks so much man, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think you're right, it's super hard to get splits to sound like a true single. There are a few guitars I have that do the split thing nicely but it's still not quite the same. Thanks again dude 🤘
I agree with EVERYTHING you said. I love it in everyway... and then that peice of s... bridge pickup 😢 Its cool but not on this guitar ,as you said
Awesome man, I'm glad my video makes some sense! Yeah dude, the pickups are not what I'd put in this guitar if I was building it but I get what they were going for. Thanks for watching man, I appreciate it 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars my pleasure Ill be watching more :)
Thanks man, that means a lot 🙏
Just bought this thing thanks to your review . Would you mind linking me or telling me which brand of tuners you’d recommend I’d buy? Would help a beginner a lot
That’s awesome dude, I’m glad my video helped! Sure thing, I bought Gotoh SG381 locking tuners but, if I remember right, I had to buy 6 for 3 a side then an extra left handed tuner to fit the bottom side. I hope that helps mate and enjoy the guitar! 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitarsthank you very much! I just dropped a sub. Last thing, could you tell me what type string/ gauge you rock nowadays on this beast with recommended tuning? 🔥
I appreciate it man, thank you! I was using d'addario 10-59 on this dude.
@@JackTaylorGuitars 🤘🤘
Is it worth 550 US? Face book market place got me tempted
Thanks for watching dude! So that's about £420 which I don't think is a terrible deal, leaves a little spending money to put a few upgrades on and make it much better. I'd still try and find a Schecter Nick Johnston instead but that's just me. Good luck dude 🤘
Hi Dude! Nice review! I have been wanting a Strandberg for some time now. I have a Ibanez qx 52, wich i love. Would u say the Strandbergs are better guitars? What is your favorite strandberg model? I like the new metal nx and the sälen (jazz/plini). But i have no chance to get to try before buying. Do u have any suggestions? Boden vs Sälen(jazz)? I play mostly rock/metal.
Hey dude, thanks so much! I'm really glad you liked it. So, yeah dude. The Q series are great for the price point and sound really good but I think Strandberg are on another level entirely. I know I said it in the video (kind of) but I am a massive Strandberg fanboy so take this for what you will. To me, they're peak headless guitar design and I don't really play anything else when I'm writing or playing. They're ideal for what I want from a guitar. My favourite model? I'd have to say my Boden Prog NX and Original NX are joint top. I love them both. If I was picking between a Sälen and a Boden I'd go Boden but only by a little bit. I prefer how they feel to sit with and their sound, there is a slight difference to my ear. I hope that helps mate. Sorry for the long reply haha. Definitely let me know what you pick up 🤘
You put your picks in there genius!!!!!😂 that's actually a good idea for us that loose 10 picks a week
You'd never be without one dude! 🤣 Thanks for watching mate 🤘
That neck probably IS roasted .. which is like a free upgrade but it rubbed the original customer the wrong way who probably had other roasteds and wanted unroasted.
If it is then I'm definitely not gonna complain! The roasted neck on the boden essential does feel different but, accounting for changes in wood, this could have been a test neck or something? Who knows man. Thanks for watching dude! 🤘
Absolutely agree. I have the previous green model with chocolate neck and I love it more than any of my other guitars (including Gibson LP std, American vintage 2 tele, Ibanez PIA, JS2480 etc.) it's not better than them but I love it the most. It feels like home and plays and looks and sounds fantastic . gonna sell the rest and stick with this only. Weirdly enough i only bought it as a technical spec guitar for daily driving but it won me over it's just so good. I've never heard of Aaron Marshall before getting this guitar
That’s ace man, I love the model that you’ve got too! It’s still so cool. I hope this guitar introduced you to a player you like now? Aaron is joint top favourite players for me. Thanks for watching mate 🤘
😂 Oss 🤙
Oss! Mate, I wish I could still say that to training partners 🙃 Thanks for watching dude, I appreciate it 🤙
I've seen a lot of stuff about Chapman online. And a good few disappointed customers of a chapman guitar. But man... My ML1 Modern Baritone is fucking incredible. I too had to setup mine a little, but not by much. Had to thread the nut to fit in some thicker gauge strings (72s) but man.. It's held up really well. After setting it up and intonating, I've got consistent tone, pitch, and sustain all across the fretboard and my god the feel of that guitar neck in my hand is just incredible. I really really love the wood work and feel of this guitar. And honestly the stock chapman pickups on my baritone are actually better tone than my friend's who has the exact same guitar but with the sentient/pegasus pickups - that's just personal preference though. Anyway, good video man. I'm glad I found someone who too openly enjoys a chapman with a good and honest review.
Thanks so much dude! I’m really happy you enjoyed the video. Yeah man like, if people are fair about how good a guitar is, I think loads of them would love Chapman cause they’re really so good. Glad you love yours too mate 🤘
I bought it used now, had to take to tech fret dressing because of unlevelled frets and dead frets through the neck. I was surprised with such a guitar but I guess no guitar is perfect
Nah I guess they’re not man but that still sucks. You’d definitely expect better! Sorry yours wasn’t great at first, hope it’s good now? Thanks for watching 🤘
Can you please tell me what your set up is? Your tone sounded amazing when you were just noodling around on the guitar.
Thanks so much dude! I’m not doing anything too special in this video actually. I’m running direct into the Neural DSP Fortin Cali suite if I remember right and what you’ve got in the video is a mix of that recorded and a bit of my speaking mic. That amp is great! Cheers mate 🤘
The guitar is great but there are certain things that are not good like the Tremolo and pickups that I have upgraded on mine. But, everything else about the guitar is good!
Thanks for watching man! I completely agree, it is a great guitar but there are some things that I think could be better/upgraded. I personally love the pickups on these, the super throaty thing makes them really interesting to me, but the trem does need work if you don't wanna lock it down. I always considered putting a vegatrem on this that I've got lying around from an old build. Cheers dude 🤘
Graphtech is all marketing. Have an experienced and competent luthier install a bone nut, and then be happy. I'm sure Solar stuff is good, otherwise.
Thanks for watching man! What makes you say graphtech is all marketing? Seems to me like finding and then paying a luthier for a bone nut is probably much more awkward. Appreciate it dude 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars I have been repairing and building guitars for over 45 years. I refuse to install Graphtech nuts because of their substandard performance when compared to a properly fabricated bone nut. Even a Graphtech isn't setup right from the factory and requires a good luthier to fine tune the setup. Graphtech basically tells the market that their nuts will work better without mentioning any real world results. It's marketing, and it's a lie. What's awkward about having a professional work on your guitar?
Thanks for explaining man! And you've obviously got the experience so it's cool to hear your perspective. I guess it's hard for Graphtech to explain what real world results you'll get other than what they already do. It's one of those purchases where you've got to experience it to know if it's good or not. You telling me a bone nut installed by a luthier is better is the exact same as graphtech saying their product is better, really. It's marketing on both sides. My experience has been that every guitar I've had fitted with a graphtech nut has performed very well. The ones I've fitted myself have been great too. Granted, I'm no luthier, but I'm of the opinion that everyone should learn to work on their own guitars, generally speaking. Luthiers are important but finding one you can trust and who isn't charging a ridiculous sum (around here at least) is not as easy as learning to do the work yourself, in my opinion. Appreciate you chatting about it too mate, thank you.
@@JackTaylorGuitars Yes, guitarists should be able to work on their instruments. But I've had touring pros who wrapped the whole string on the post because they've never heard of clippers OR string winders! There are a lot of dumb guitarists out there. As for ridiculous sums - you want it done right? I did repair work for Fender and Gibson for many years (they don't pay squat), but I have clients who've been with me since the late 70's. I must be doing something right.
I’m not questioning you personally, mate. I couldn’t possibly speak about your work ‘cause we don’t know each other. I’m sure with 45 years under your belt you ask to be fairly compensated, right? As for pro musicians who can’t restring their own guitars that’s their failing and if they want to pay for it doing that’s up to them. Also, assuming that a job will be done right just because it’s expensive isn’t necessarily right either. I just advocate that people put some effort into learning because a lot of maintenance on guitar isn’t that hard. Actual repair work or something like a refret though? That’s where a luthier is most valuable in my view. Appreciate your time dude!
It'd be perfect if they'd flatten the fretboard radius a bit. I don't like playing anything under a 12" (305mm). Just a personal preference. Very cool other than that.
I do like a flatter radius too dude. That said, 10" is definitely better than 9" and does make a difference. Thanks for checking out the video dude, I really appreciate it 🤘
Right im gonna start on the negative here sir (which i hate since I seriously like you, your channel n that god damn fine proper accent!)... these guitars being handbuilt isnt a selling point, every guitar is handbuilt from the cheapest of the cheap upto the many thousands you pay for 'premium' gibsons (if there is such a thing)... im glad they've dropped the 'handmade' tagline they used to use since it was mis-selling a product made on CNC, but thats an old argument with them. The selling point is the fact they finish it better than most within this price point and for a made in (the finest part of the) UK instrument this is a effectively a steal. But negativety aside its a stonkin guitar that PJD have made at a bloody good price point and sounds mint. A grand vid as ever sir and bloody hell that playing... absolutely MEGA!!!
Mate, no need to feel bad about it, honestly. I'd never take it personally, we've all got our own valid opinions on stuff. Yeah, I can't argue with what you're saying. It might be my fault for not really explaining what I mean or at least the way I think about it. Hand built to me reflects a certain level of care, whereas I'd say something like a Mexican fender is constructed? There's no real difference between the two by definition, admittedly. I dunno if that makes sense but that's kind of my thinking at least. You're right on the selling point too mate, value for money is out of this world with these. And thank you for always being so cool, I appreciate you dude 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars you are a seriously awesome fella :) cheers sir :) Theres no denying they done good with these, find i truly amazing they can make these in the UK for that selling price. Honestly hope they do incredibly well with this line :) Look forward to the next vid sir, its always a great watch :)
I appreciate you dude. Yeah, they really have. They deserve a ton of success with these. Thank you mate, I'll catch you in the next one. Look after thisen 🤘
It's just another brand out of thousands today copying Fender.. Epiphone and Gibson body styles..
On the surface, sure. They’re fender inspired and they don’t try to hide it really. When you think about it for a minute though, better specs, hand built, and cheaper than Fender like for like. There’s a lot of companies doing fender better than fender and these are at the top of the list. In my opinion obviously. Thanks for watching mate 🤘
Cool guitar I really dig the one pickup guitars and made in the same county your in? Damn dumpster diving time you never know you might find a whole guitar lol
I know right, it’s so cool! I don’t think PJD would be super happy seeing me hanging round the bins late at night though 😂 Thanks for watching my dude, I appreciate it 🤘
I just bought an ML2, what are you doing to me bro...
My dude, I saw! Congrats on the new guitar man. I'm truly sorry...maybe 😂 Thank you dude 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars thank you, the funny thing is I was looking at PJD aswell 😂 it was a close decision.
Really? 🤣 that is weird man but there will always be another chance right haha
@@JackTaylorGuitars I was looking at the Carey apprentice! Maybe 👀
Really good unboxing and first impressions. Love this finish too. What do you think the pickups compare to?
Thank you so much bro! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. The pickups are great dude, I think I'd put them somewhere close the the SD Pegasus and Sentient set in that they're very clear and give that sort of modern punchy kind of thing. I actually think I like these a little bit more? They're maybe a bit richer. Hope that helps man, thanks for watching 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars Thanks! That's about what I'd expect, he played those for a while and his BKPs where a bit in line with that too
No worries dude! I'm actually thinking about getting a set for one of my strandbergs so I'll bang a video up if I do. Thanks again!
Strandbergs always seemed a bit excessive in price for my humble needs so I always sort of admired them from afar. Now they go and release this and it lives right at the top end of what I'd spend on a guitar. I'm both pleased and vexed at the same time that this is available. Anyway, I need to find a grand from somewhere ffs.
😂 Dude, I know exactly what you’re saying. Not to stoke on the GAS but the essential is such a good representation of what Strandbergs are about, this really is a cracking deal. Let me know if you get one! Cheers bro, hope you’re doing good 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars Maybe Santa will be extra nice to me this year haha. All good in the hood my dude. Hope you're well also!
I hope so my dude! Glad you’re well man, doing good here too thanks!
My brother...❤
Thank you bro 🙏👊 Hope you and yours are all doing good!
I had both the Chapman is better. Harley Benton doing nice job, but the paint job is awfull for a matte Guitar. Greasy fingers 2.0. Build quality is better on the chapman, as so for the parts. Still Got the Chapman. No real contest really.
I’m 100% with you on that dude. Depending on what you can spend they’re both great options but the Chapman is just the better guitar for sure. Thanks for watching mate 🤘
