Urbansketching in Odeceixe, Portugal
มุมมอง 551หลายเดือนก่อน
I'm trying to add more color pencil in my watercolor sketches. This is the great café "Ao Largo" in Odeceixe, a wonderful town at the Costa Vicentina in Portugal. I think I kind of like the colored pencil lines in the watercolor. But i'm not satisfied yet with the result of a color pencil only sketch... Maybe I'm just addicted to watercolor? What about you? Coffee cup in Porto
มุมมอง 1.1K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
I made high quality leporello reproductions of some of my sketchbooks, together with french sketchbook artist Gaëlle Spaeth, on beautiful paper. Gaëlle is a professional bookbinder so they really look good 😊 Here I paint a coffee cup in one of them before sending it of to the person who bought it. (I don't drink tea in Porto, but good coffee :) When you buy one, please tell me if you like an or...

Tea cup challenge: paint without drawing, with bad ending…
มุมมอง 8557 หลายเดือนก่อน
I first didn't plan to show you the end of this video, but then I changed my mind, because it's so instructive. This way I hope it wouldn't happen to you ! Tea cups are for me the “Go To Place” to keep me going, to empty my head, to play, to experiment my painting skills, to try new techniques and to simply warm up or sketch without having to think about what to sketch , because practice is whe...

What hardness of graphite did you used?
It's watersoluble graphite and when I use pncil I mainly use 2B or 3B

Hello, My mother suffers from dementia. I myself have been bedridden with different chronic diseases for 10 years. I find solace in drawing and painting. I would love to share this with my mother too. She loves looking at my pictures but has no interest in trying it herself. Do you have any advice how to maybe get her to enjoy drawing/painting after all? It means so much to me and I would love to share the joy. She has so little nowadays.
Dear Fiona, I'm sorry to read about all your suffering. This is how I try to make people draw and paint in the art for dementia workshop: I try to find art images that appeal to them, or pictures of things they like, like flowers, countryside,... whatever speaks to her. Then you take drawing paper, sit next to her and take a paper for yourself too, and some art supplies you think she might like. If she can still hold a brush, try paint, gouache or watercolor and otherwise pastels or colour pencils work well also, and start painting and drawing and the chances will be she will join you. Don't draw on her paper. Let her draw/paint on her paper, and draw yourself on your paper. So she can see how you do it. When the disease is far progressed, they forgot easyly what they were supposed to do with the brush or pencil. So it helps when they see how you do it. I hope this helps. Please tell me if it worked. I'm trying to makes some worksheets about it.
@BarbaraLuel that sounds great, thank you for taking the time to answer. Unfortunately, we can both not leave our beds so I can't actually sit next to her to animate her 🥺
@@fionasimagination oh I'm really sorry to read that... I wish you a all the best to get better !
@BarbaraLuel I won't we both will only get worse with time. I want to help my mother so badly. I already talk to her as much as I can to keep her happy but I need a lot of sleep due to my health issues. Alzheimers is such an unfair disease!💔
Such a nice way to prepare your travel sketchbook and your trip as well , great colour pallets too. Thanks for sharing .
My pleasure 😊
I really like your style ✨
Oh thank you!🙏🏽
Awesome! Love the way you start a travel sketchbook. Love also the background music. What is the title of this song?
Your work is beautiful. Have a wonderful time! You are a continued inspiration xx
Thank you so much! ☺️♥️
Would love to have a tutorial with colors used too
love the light earth tones

❤Beautiful, thank you so much for sharing 😊
Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
j adore ton splashing paint, quand moi j'essaie j 'ai l impression que c'est gaché que des taches..... ah ce lacher prise, difficile
When I start a new sketchbook, I usually skip the first page. Later I'll either sketch my supplies or paint some watercolor backgrounds that I doodle on top of with ink. I have the ArtGraf in the tin but never thought of mixing it with watercolor as you did, I'll have to try that!
Gorgeous! 💙
This is beautiful! 💖
Beautiful! I need to start doing this! You are such an inspiration! ❤
Beautiful ✨I like your style very much
Tellement relaxant ✨✨✨😊
joyous to watch! Thank you for sharing with us.

thank you !
Lovely 🥰
thank you so much!
I am completely charmed by your sketchbook- so lovely!
thanks!
Really awesome 🤩
thank you !

that's pretty . thank you for sharing .
thank you !
BARBARA...LOVELY TEACUP...by the way...what type of paper did you use? So sorry...the tape did that much damage...I have heard a hair dryer over the tape when you are about to remove it...can help...I use PAINTERS TAPE...for when you paint walls...it is less sticky naturally to masking tape...so far so good for me. What is the brush you are using...looks like a dagger...did you use it for the whole painting? I appreciate getting an email about when you post new videos...it makes me go right there asap...like your music too...bet you can paint a teacup in your sleep now!☺...Janis
Thank you so much! Normally this tape is supposed to be good for paper... I'll try the hair dryer ;) The paper is a Fabriano sketchbook ! Lovely paper! The dagger is a dagger by Rosemary's & co. I advice this one: it's imitation sable hair: www.rosemaryandco.com/watercolour-brushes/red-dot-daggers In the beginning I use a large synthetic round brus by Escoda with an amazing tip.
Merci!
Beautiful, Barbara! What size is your large brush you used for the tea cups?
I use a large synthetic round brus by Escoda with an amazing tip. Size 12 Barrocco series : escoda.com/en/product/1410/
@@BarbaraLuel thank you! I was looking around on independent US sites, and they don't have Barroco. I see lots of other series, but not Barroco. There are so many things I'm now ready to do - with this past week the planned organization. Then, pneumonia!
@@BarbaraLuel I did find one at Dick Blick. I have some pretty teacups from my great grandmother which I don't use, and forget about. They will be subjects. 🤞🏻
I love the process of iterations on the same subject! They all look great!
thank you so much!
I love the colour scheme . Tea cups are such a lovely topic to paint . I mostly use washi tape instead of masking tape as it is easier to remove without damaging the paper .
thank you so much!
Très joli sketchbook, pour retirer le scotch, j’utilise un séchoir quand je sens que ça résiste 😉
ah super merci pour le tip !
Lovely teacups. To remove maskingtape safe you could use a hairdryer.
Aaahhh ok 👌🏽 I will try that
I just love this, love your style! 💖
So so lovely! I see in your other videos that you use an angle brush, can you tell me what brand and size that is? Also the brush you use here looks very interesting, what type is that? Thank you for sharing you beautiful talent! 💙
hello! thank you so much! This is a "Tokusei Tomoe Menso" brush from Pigment Tokyo, small size. pigment.tokyo/en/products/1368 . The angle brushes I use are from Escoda and Rosemary & co
I love this Barbara! Fantastic! ❤️😍☕️
thank you so much!
You can order it here with English textbook 🤗❣️ www.editions-akinome.com/produit/47/9791096405855/europe-bruxelles
I set the Playback speed to .25 and its still a race to the finish line…maybe after painting 10,000 teacups ☕️ 🤞
Thanks...wish I could fill a pan...with the finesse that you do...that palette knife is unique!...you didn't even get paint on your fingers!...Love your choice of colours...no lemon yellow!?
4.41 you screen went BLACK...just music...was this intended? Loved your teacup...wish I could have watched you finish it. Can you mention where to get that awesome red palette you are using...and which burshes you used...the little detail one and the bigger one...thank you Barbara...Janis
Hello, thank you for reaching out! I cut out the black part. You saw the whole video, but I accidentally left the music going on in the editing ... :) I will mention the art supplies in the description text :)
Beautiful! Could your next book be just your thumbnails?
Ah yesssss why not ❓🤗
