2015 Ram front brake disc removal
มุมมอง 512 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a basic video about removing the break caliper and disc. I said the socket size was a 7/8 but it’s actually a 13/16 to remove the hub with lug studs. The socket to remove the caliper is a 15/16.

I apologize for a partial video of the first portion of this video was corrupted and had no sound so therefore I edit it off. I will do a video putting it back in so that hopefully that will help you to get yours apart.

Which seal tool did you use to install the seal?
@@mtsanchez27 I didn’t use anything but a hammer and a small piece of wood.
@markmeeks2135 thanks!!
What do you call that socket from Napa and did you pack both bearings
@@set1215 I don’t know what the socket is called. I took the nut to Napa and told them what I was needing and they had it. As for the bearings yes I packed both bearings liberally. You must keep grease away from the seal mounting surface going into hub and on the axel lip. Grease on those surfaces will cause a leak. Use liquid dish soap on seal surfaces and on axel tube. The nut will come off relatively easily when you remove the key. So not a problem to get off and carry to Napa. Hope that helps you.
What would happen if the seal would be put in the opposite direction its fits nice, thats how my trucks hub is assembled
@@PGN21 My guess would be that it would leak and cause premature bearing failure. Proper assembly is critical for long life of the bearings
Hi what is the part number on the wheel seal thanks
There are 2 different ones. One is for single rear wheel and dual rear wheel. The dual rear wheel is (710563) from oreilly and the single rear is (710564) from Oreilly.
Great video, but you do not pack the bearings. By doing this, you have contaminated your gear oil, specially if you have minimal slip.
You are mistaken. According to the factory service manual the bearings are to be packed in grease before assembly.
Go right ahead and don’t pack the beating You will be on the side of the road With one hell of a problem Seen it a dozen times
You'll destroy the bearings if you don't use grease initially. It may seem weird, but it's industry standard.
The bearings are lubed by gear oil on these. You’re not supposed to grease the bearings. Just wet them with gear oil.
Sir you are incorrect. Read the factory service manual.

Can I ask where did you get a manual that includes the real seal etc? The manuals from the parts store don't include this.
I got a factory service manual many years ago.
Hey brother, just checking to see if you ever got it figured out?
Unfortunately no I have not. I’m going to swap out the turbo actuator tomorrow. I have another truck that has stock actuator on it. The actuator I have on my truck that is overheating is aftermarket from city diesel. Now that the weather is really getting warmer hopefully I can get it figured out.
@@markmeeks2135 good deal, I hope you can too.
Hello
Hello
.
Well you could have shown us the removal and instalation of the bearing races but I get the just of it. Thank u
Very good points.
I got cold just watching that!!! Hehehe🤣
Lol😂
It seems like the fan is not being triggered to come on when it starts overheating. Have you tried looking at the water pump or thermostat? This is a weird problem you’re having. Ok, Just finish watching the video where you said you replaced the thermostat. Are you getting any trouble codes? I’m not sure if you mentioned that in the video.
Replaced water pump and fuse box. No codes at all.
@@markmeeks2135 Mark, check out this video. It may help you out with your diagnosis. th-cam.com/video/XUAy-1sQlqc/w-d-xo.html
Hi Mark, Are you going to be uploading any new videos. I enjoy your content. Hope all is well. God bless!
Thanks for asking. I’m actually dealing with a over heating problem and I haven’t figured it out. So yes I should do another video.
@@markmeeks2135 i actually dealt with a over heating problem on my Ram truck that I could not figure out for a long time. Try taking off the reservoir/overflow tank and try blowing through the hose and see if it’s stopped up. I had a bunch of dirt clogged up in the plastic nipple that the hose attaches to. Once I took a clohanger and unclogged it she was good to go. I have a good feeling this is your problem. Let me know if this works.
@@RickySlatton actually, my issue is I believe the electric fan is not coming on. I have replaced the fan and then I replace the second fan with a third. Truck does not overheat normal driving but under a heavy load with ambient temperatures above 50 the engine temperature will creep up and when I start pulling mountains, it will definitely overheat. However, when I hit 217°F I can put the truck in neutral revved a motor up to 2750 and hold it there for just a minute and the fan will fully engage. You can hear it roaring and the engine temperature will rapidly go back down. Once the fan engages, I just put it back in gear and continue climbing the mountain and the fan will stay engaged until it drops down anywhere between 200 n 208 then the fan will disengage. The fan will not re-engage. I have to complete the steps above in order to get the fan to work each and every time. I am going to make a short video later today. I have a trailer on right now. I am in these Nevada mountains. I also have a snap on scan tool to monitor the fan clutch activities.
@@markmeeks2135 ok, sounds like your on the right path. I will get you in prayer’s brother.
@@RickySlatton can definitely use the prayers. I posted a video yesterday of my overheating issue. I am planning on doing more Christian vids too.
Did that solve your issue with over heating?
No it didn’t! Still overheating under heavy loads.
The deck screw trick is pretty cool. Thanks
Your welcome! Glad it helped.
Thank you you did a great job. Mine is a 3500 dodge dually. Only thin on mine is we couldn't find the right seal! we Thought! found out it is the right seal but on mine you have to take the insert and that top cap off of the seal for it to fit. Other wise the center was to small. They must have change axel spinodal sizes and made them smaller on the newer trucks so they used the same seal but with the outer cap and a reducer.
Glad everything worked out for you.
Thank you for the video. Definitely helps
Your very welcome!
Amen. Jesus is lord. God bless you!
I'm having trouble removing the hub. How did you remove it?
Yes the hub is sometimes hard to remove. Just takes a little force to pull off. The seal is is holding it to the axel tube. The seal is a 2 piece seal and will most likely come apart. When you remove the outer bearing it will allow you to wiggle it around as you pull on the hub.
