Kedleston Hall
So today I am at Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire, this has to be my favourite National Trust site so far. Absolutely stunning. The Marble Hall and The Saloon are worth the trip on their own. If you get the chance this is a must see, Enjoy!

Lyme Park & Gardens the largest house in Cheshire set in the most beautiful grounds at the foot of the Peak District. Just be aware that they seem to have clamped down on filming inside the house. Also if you wish to visit The Lantern is is not very well sign posted. Basically turn left instead of entering the house from the carpark. What should have been a fascinating look inside a reletively unknown building, was totally ruined by the overbearing, unnessesary and needlessly dramatic accompanying music.
@@michaelinnes971 l will try harder next time
I am new to TH-cam and so I am learning all the time. Thank you for your critique it will make my next video better.
Stunning place. I sometimes went there when I lived in Derby in the 1980s. The Marble Hall is wonderful.
It really is, my favourite room so far!
Undoubtedly this great housewarming inspired by the even grander Holkham hall where again the monumental central block was for state and parade and the display of art and taste. The great hall at Holkham also displays the wonderful variegated Derbyshire alabaster in its cladding and columns ..
Must add Holkman to my list of must see! Thank you
Some very good shots, but did your finger slip on the volume control for the music?😇
@@stephengraham5099 you are not wrong on both counts amazing place it would be hard not to get some good shots and perhaps I rushed the edit and forgot to check sound levels. Thank for your feedback
The Xmas decor is pretty lame like why even bother
@@PJZZZZ maybe I didn’t do it justice to be fair as it was pretty impressive to see.
Less is more.
Great vid mate, hope you enjoyed the walk around. Such a privilege to get in these places 👍
@@ScouseFarm the walk was amazing until I slipped on a cow pat and ended up on my arse! Cheers mate!

Almost the Versailles of Derbyshire - wealth of Curzon family must been staggering, such opulence, your film gives real sense of the grand scale of the place. Not somewhere to actually live though, Love the moment by the fountain, at start, where your shadow seems to greet the shadow of the statue, Engaging vlog again Rich, made me want to find out the Curzon story(& yes the Adams decorative work v beautiful)
It’s becomes really obvious as you walk around the building that no one ever lived there, bedroom next to the dining room then the withdrawing room on the other side of the building. Also don’t remember seeing a kitchen. The place is just one massive showroom but absolutely stunning!
Very fine start to December Fezziwig, thanks
Really enjoyed this Rich- thanks for sharing - may ask You for lessons!!!!
@@patbarker2829 thank you Pat, you don’t need lessons!
Your production skills are brilliant mate. Keep at it and one day this channel will fly. Well done 👍
Thank you my friend!
Hope you are well. Your video-making is very good. Your content ideas are excellent. But I am researching your channel and was shocked to see that your every video has lower audience engagement and reach also much lower. If you permit me, I will share some information to increase your channel. Then you get lots of subs, views, and a larger audience reach organically daily. Waiting for your valuable response.
So much in this story of Quarry Bank Mill, most powerful & moving film yet Rich, Letting us hear the roar of just 2 machines brings home instantly the working conditions - I'm still taking this in, this is an astonishing account, & the dedication to Esther at the end is done with respect & grace, More here that needs to be told? Briiliant work Rich
@@jodoyle-iq8ep Thanks Jo, I can’t begin to imagine how hard life was for the men women and children who worked at the mill. Apparently, they were fed a scoop of cold porridge in the morning while they kept on working then worked a 12hr day and the children then went to lessons in the evening. Horrific! Thank God for people like Terry Doyle. xx

Just goes to show what a wonderful country we live in and the craftsmanship of our ancestors. Just getting my channel off the ground- bit of motovlogging but I also want to do more history videos of East Kent in the future- all takes time but is good fun to have a life outside of work!
I couldn't agree more. It is a lot of effort but if you enjoy it then it doesn't really matter. Good luck with the channel.
Another beautiful Church showing off the skills of our forefathers. Incredible the way we used to build things. Nice one mate 👍
It's almost like we forgot how to build or just lost interest. I was down at the Pier Head yesterday, ay no more!
@@richarddoyle1878 It´s because this kind of workmanship cannot be mass produced by machines and therefore it is too expensive for greedy companies. They gladly sacrifice beauty and quality for sad, grey buildings, that all look the same and by no means last as long as the beauties
@ very true!
Beautiful, deserted, mysterious place - wonder if Eng Heritage don't have access to deep coffers that NT do?, as the presence of any curation here seems minimal. No matter another absorbing film, Rich, thanks (where you the only visitor?)
@@jodoyle-iq8ep thanks Jo, I got there as it opened and had the place to myself.

The ceilings are magnificent😮!

The house has a lot of windows. Makes it look almost modern for that time period.
Totally agree, I was surprised when I first seen the front of the Hall.
What a Magical place, stunning mate. Keep up the good work 👍
Thank you, will do my best! Good luck for the future.
Any connection to John Astley, husband of Elizabeth I 's gover ess? They never had children but he remarried after Kat's death?
Not that I am aware of I didn't see any mention of John Astley whilst researching the hall.
Any connection to Rick Astley?
@@edwardjantyndorf4174 I think that we are all connected to Rick Astley in some way!
I thought that Elizabeth I’s governess’s name was Kathryn “Kat” Ashley not Astley.
The plasterwork on the ceilings is absolutely exquisite! I’m not a fan of the 16th-17th century use of dark wood.
