This Ducati 860 GTE had been stored for 13 years. After an oil change, new battery and some fresh fuel, it started and lives to ride again!

    Ducati bevel is best bike ever imo. 👌

    Why am I getting all these old post in my suggestions?!! Still, a pleasing walk down memory lane. Unfamiliar with the 860 GTE. I don't think they were ever imported here (AU). We got the 860GT (similar to the GTE from what I see, but kick start only) initially in 1976 followed a few months later by the 860GTS in late 1976 or early 1977. The GTS featured electric start with its huge battery plus a load of other differences and goodies like high compression heads, less angular styling, bigger rounder fuel tank, twin front Brembo discs and caplipers, Metzler tyres instead of Pirellis, chromed mudguards, a different LED dash panel with flatter handlebars for a less upright riding position. I bought the GTS (new).

    I have my dads 1976 Ducati, it really is old and hasnt been used for about 40 years, i really would like to restore it when I have enough money.

      I wouldn't bother without a total engine strip and rebuild as the big end will be f00ked. Ducatis metallurgy was sh1t at the time and the loads imposed by the extra capacity of the 864cc overstressed the big end to beegeezuz. I maintained mine religiously, particularly in regard to oil changes and grade/quality of oil. Highway cruising at 160kph on a hot summer's day, my 860GTS motor self-destructed at just 28,000km!

    The bike is in great shape but I was never a fan of the squared off lines of the tanks.

    Fake video? Have had (and wish I still did!!) 76 860 GTS & 75 900SS and both would take no more than 3 kicks.

      Not fake, but after going up a size on the idle jets it's now 3 kicks to start.

    @bsg1206 Its an engine jettison, when in combat if an engine was stricken with a projectile you could get rid of the effected engine for reduced weight. (Its actually a hand pump for pressurizing the hydraulic system)

      Get it at the compression stroke and its easy. I have managed to run my ss900 bevel backwards but it only ran about 2 or 3 revs and spat fuel out carbs lmao 🤣

  • @soaringvulture

    Guigaro did that? I didn't realize it. The 860 is probably as good a ride as the 750's (once you ditch the motocross handlebars) but I think it's been uglified from nose to tail. Even the engine cases are awkward.

    • @theblytonian3906
      @theblytonian3906 ปีที่แล้ว

      I owned an 860GTS and rode with a friend with a 750GT. The 860GTS rode very well, but electrics and ignition aside, I think the 750GT was a better bike TO OWN overall.
