Nice build. Thanks for the showcase. Now, I guess I'm not the only one feeling tired of all these cool ideas terrible playability designs for weapons. Spear on thief is the epitome of what happened after deadeye has access to the new weapon mastery. Axe already forced us to painfully have the gods on our side during a 5 skills rotation to barely surpass the 10k of not interrupted, nor forced to Wal or break range while the mob is waiting on us to chain the buttons ... Spear does the same but with a 8 skills chain to close the gap to 16k during your first 2 ambush Bursts... Digging through skills in order to trigger the only one necessary (3C stealth) to try to ambush in melee... and cross your fingers if you get a good stolen skill (wtf that. Srlsy) for something useful-ishfendweikf terrible dps I'd any other mob (seriously... I think absolutely every moving mob is getting away with it by not been pinned to the ground for many seconds waiting for us to finish the rotation to ambush.... All that shenanigans for Nada. When we have to resort to break melee and move, stall the rotation and then just to end up simplifying all into press 333 then ambush 1 repeat for a no brianer to get 8k and you better be happy with it. Oh and absolutely every other skill I my utility skill bar serves you to actually repeat that se rotation again so forget using those utilities for something else (hint: MOST thief utility skills are useless if you choose to adopt a DPS build because it's a loss of you use them out of ROTATION. SAID most. Not all. ). On top of that... Another prayer to the titans if your ambush gets triggered. Sometimes skill lag just happens (oh very often) and it never comes and you're left waiting for it while all your dmg decline to the abyss with the drowned gods. Better return to no brained pew pew or dagger dagger 333333 to actually do damage and don't mind any other button on your screen.

Nomyxia has been doing hyper-optimized solo benchmarks and I've been waiting with bated breath for a Thief attempt from them, but seems they maybe just don't play Thief. Very happy to see Thief can hang solo with the likes of condi Reaper and Revenant.

My main problem with the spear is its bad design. Gw2 engine with "slap this button at this millisecond for ideal rotation" was never meant for flipping skills with no cooldowns. Literally on every other class you can just slap the button until it finally goes off. And yeah in open world where you have to dodge, walk from this and that, often lose melee or range having your entire rotation relied on hitting several skills at once... Jeez, man, even brainafk dagger/dagger with backstab gets annoying as fuck with Anet game design - hello timberwolves with random aegis, griffons and many, many more scumbag units. I appreciate the effort and it looks very cool what you're doing with this trash of a weapon but personally for me its one and only use is Deimos handkite. And, well, cheap breakbar, when you can afford a weaponswap cooldown. Cheers!

hello sir, I was interested in many of your videos. I've always loved Shortbow, Longbow in this game. But never once did I find a build where Bow uses dps as the main weapon. You seem to make a custom build that is fun and unique. So, I think you can create a build with BOW as the main. Maybe like ‘quick shortbow deadeye’ or I don't care about any class. Sir, could you make a BOW main build for me? I believe you can.

that skill press its almost imposible for my human hands. the accuracy of the pressings and the queueing is almost unoticable. good job for those cyber macro hands hahaha (srlsy GJ).

hi! firebrand and gw2 noob here. the POWER attribute is still needed? i thought CONDITION is all i'll need to maximize the axe/torch combo? i'd like to try this in fractals. i'm currently using a celestial set. thanks!

Didn't this crop up in beta for the Ranger spear, ruining the stealth combos? I thought they fixed that by ensuring you still got the stealth combos, even if stealth broke. Maybe they can implement something similar on Thief.

You think this is viable in CM?

I tried spear/staff on power daredevil and it's sooo good, the game play is so fun and mobile

Do you manually put your skills on screen, or are you using something to help you do it?

Day in the life of skills and balance dev: Do any of the non-thief professions need attention? If so, give them attention, then you're done for the day. If no non-thief profession needs attention, roll a d20. If roll a 1, and it's a Wednesday, and the day of the month is a prime number, then give attention to thief profession. Otherwise, can knock off early.

They should make you a balance dev. It's clear none of the current 3 cares about thief.

this rotation is so complex because is hard to keep up what you are currently doing... Not sure if I want to put such an effort into it.. :(

I used to play a lot of thief and I was super excited for the new Axe. I enjoyed it at first, but because it of the "fixes" and nerfs I haven't been able to perform well and the rotation is more annoying, so I lost my interest with the axe weapon. The optimal rotation is too difficult for me. So I was excited for spear. And spear is pretty cool in a open world context! But again, performing to a level compared to my alts in an instanced content is impossible for me, as the rotation is super fast and intricate. Again, kind of sad.. So, I'm asking for your help. Is it possible to work out a simplified rotation spear? Or even axe? Iskarel, you're my only hope Xoxo

I really enjoy that thief constantly has usability issues with their new weapons. Skill queuing for Axe, this, originally When Deadeye first came out Rifle reveal was a lot more janky as well. Grrrr.

I'm in love with this build- thank you! The flexibility is really nice.

The problem with Deadeye stolenskill giving stealth and inmediately ruining it by doing an AA(auto attack) has been there since forever. I tried to play D/P with a quickness build and it kept messing my stealth attack 80% of the times as you described Deadeye might never get fixed since 2017 it was added and you still can't use "deadeye's mark" on some targets like octovines or the second boss at "sunqua peak" fractal and on some cases if you activate "deadeye's mark" on an enemy that's killed by another player it won't refresh

Now we pray for ANet to notice and do something about it. GJ Iskarel.

well this is comforting, was trying to finally make use of my parked deadeye, and felt like I could only correctly hit the stealth attack correctly 2/3rd of the time. Thanks for putting this together
