    Great video! Great explanations! If a fella had to keep moving on the build, what would be the minimum “settle” time on the end “H” brace posts? Would a bag or two of quik crete turn that into a week or two?

    What did you find out about the elbows that had nothing on them. Were they relief fittings that would discharge oil to the sump when the reliefs open? Check your glow plugs. Ether start and glow plugs do not get along very well.

      From my understanding, they are case drains off the relief valves, however they should have some form of a drain hose on them to prevent aeration.

      I've got one of these. The Perkins is a reliable very fuel efficient engine. Not powerful. Terrible cold starters. They don't have glow plugs but a terrible manifold heater that rarely works. Just a whisper of Cosby sauce and they take right off. JUST A WHISPER.

    new sub, peanut oil is correct, I run it in 94 f350 7.3 and a 4bt and a 8.3 but I run with 15%reg unleaded gas and 10% diesel and settle for 2 months or longer filter and run through pa bio supply centrifuge

      Currently it wont start! Haha. Waiting for a day i can get it pushed on the trailer and hauled to dads to work on it in the shop. I'll post the video when I do.

    FYI if all the water is on the bottom the Oil will not look milky and longer. If you can heat the oil somehow the water will settle faster.

      You are correct! I had driven it off the trailer though so i made the assumption that it was all mixed. I did not know the water would settle out with heat though

    We thought it would be good to invest in a skid steer for a fmaily friends pole building business… it just cost too dang much to keep up with it. Every use something broke or went out or busted. We decided it was best to just rent one if we really needed it 😂

    I used to work on Perkins many years ago, the ones I remember were 4-108 and they are a bit hard to start. Indirect injected. Is that what you have?

    there a filter on a sping that scews off on them old bobcats make go back 4th like in under cab, under seat when u lift up cab ,i had 743 would not go back and front was so i put that on and now works like new guy junked this bobcat was siting 8 yrs ,i got in runing took me 2 days but i drive it of his land he had covered with tarp 8yrs ,got it runing like new

    Don't worry buddy the oil filter is probably blocked. Also could be valve stuck. Are the levers moving the valve controls correctly Also might be chain drive gone on one side

      The levers seem to work as designed, its currently able to run and drive now since i plugged that hole. It still has low charge pressure, but i think thats the filters. Im going to put some hours on it and then do new fluids and filters.

    How did you figure out how many and what size to make the holes in the pipe?

      I ran the numbers of free air requirements for a flame burning at various BTUs. Then I converted that to the available air through the circle holes. I know it isnt 100% accurate but it was enough to get me a baseline.

    Got to keep the kids involved raising chickens/other animals and gardening. They need to know where food comes from, it’s not Publix or Food Lion😂 taking them hunting/fishing, to the farmers market and teaching them trades. An accounting or English degree only goes as far as you can throw them

      Oh trust me, i know! i went to a university for mechanical engineering and chose to walk away on my third year. I am now on my 5th year of an industrial maintenance apprenticeship, my only complaint, is that i didnt leave the university sooner! As for the kids, we are doing our best!

    I like it!😂 I just got my first round of Cornish Cross this past Thursday. My egg layers will be 9 weeks this coming Wednesday. The 10 broilers I orders 3 have died. 1 was DOA and 1 was suffering real bad then the next day another died but the remaining 7 are doing great. I know I could contact the hatchery and get chicks back but for 3 chicks??? Seems “unfair” to me for me to “take” those knowing they could go to a whole batch of 10 someone else lost in shipping or are ording. I’ll stay tuned for more!!!

      im sorry to hear you lost them! Where do you live that you are getting them this time of year? glad to hear the egg layers are doing well. Egg layers are on my list for next summer, I just need to build a coop this winter!

It’s kind of warm right now, they are indoors in a brooder so in 6-7 weeks they should be outdoors in a chicken tractor if I believe they have enough feathers and it’s not too cold. We don’t see temps getting into the high/mid 20s until the middle of January. I think last week the coldest it got one night was 34.

    Glue a oil pan pad to it. Plug it in for 1hr and it's more then enough. I do that to my 4 strokes for -30c days I used to ride. Has worked for past 14 years. Idk if it will get hot enough tho to melt the bucket.

    I totally agree. Back when kids were afraid of their parents. Now days, every TV show teaches children to rebel and shows them there are no consequences for disobedience. And since TV is fiction and you can pretend anything, it goes further and teaches kids, when you rebel and disobey, everything still works out good.

They are teaching our new younger generation there are no severe consequences for your actions, so don't stop and think about what you're doing and what will arrive.     Can ross 308 stay up to 8 weeks old is it possible.

      Im not 100% sure what strain my Cornish cross were, but from what i understand, ross 308 is a similar strain. So that being said, I believe they could without issue. A feed management system would have to be im place for that specific breed, so they dont get too heavy too early.

    Idea is to BBQ the air, so you need a pipe to flor were is the coldest air and go through uper barel, same need for air that come from outside of shop, you will figures out.

    Awesome build by your Grandpa. I love how builds like this allow men to live beyond their years, in a way, because their work continues to benefit the world long after they're gone. I would like to know how this lift mechanism would compare to the current traditional methods of hydraulic lift methods we see in today's dump trailer builds.

      Thank you! I agree, things like this allow them to give you a helping hand long after they are physically able to. That is a good question, if I had more time on my hands I would dust off my statics textbooks and calculate the lift capacity as opposed to a mid-bed cylinder, or the scissor style. Unfortunately, that sounds like a winter project!
