Some of these guys have a deth wish standing so close to that load suspended. One chain break and it could be bad.
Those modified excavators moving almost a half a million pounds put the amount of power in perspective.
I would say those boys have done that a few times previous.
As long as it's not Hulcher services or RJ Corman, it's a good operation most times.

Old 1058 sure looks better with the wheels back where they are supposed to be! I wonder if the Under Warranty is still good?
That is so awesome to watch. The cost to rerail must be tremendous with all that equipment. Wonder what the track speed is taking it a shop? 👍👍
Very cool. Never seen that process done until now. I presume the unit was towed away for repairs...
Great footage man. Hope nobody was hurt!
They make those jd excavators here in my hometown
Is this the derailment that took place on Apison Pike on December 20, 2022? I did some research and it seems that Collegedale is the site of a surprising number of derailments.
Collegedale, Tennessee. Home of Southern Adventist University.
Hope no one got seriously hurt or killed. We just had a bad train derailment in Ohio
Excellent camera job. Long time railroad and I am amazed to see this.
Ok Now im curious how the Transmission works to put power to those Wheel assembly's? And if Power goes to both sets?
Geez that looks challenging... One bad movement or failure somewhere and that gets ugly fast.
When they start to lower it onto the trucks, if you look real close you can see the wires for the decoder, sound system, and lighting system, AMAZING!
that re-rail looked so easy , but the folks that drive and flag the operator's are talented and must stay in eye contact. 3 rigs at each end in sync Good job $$$
Thank you for the video
East palstine is the location after derail ment
RJ Corman rail service?
Have never seen a recovery and now two in two days, thanks to Norfolk Southern TY 4sharing BTW: Foremen with same vest plaid jacket and tan trousers
I had to wince when I saw them put her down on her tanks.
Was that locomotive moving under its own power at the end of the vid? Or was it being pushed?
It was being pushed by an engine off to the right of the flat cars.
Pushed. She's dead, her brake lines parted when they lifted her off her trucks, so no brakes. In addition, they don't know what damage was caused to the motors when she tried to fly.
@@karenburrows9184 I'd imagine that you'd want to slowly turn it over, in case of bent rods or a liquid filled cylinder.
@@gorillaau are you talking about turning over the engine itself? Like, to start it?
@@karenburrows9184 I was thinking just gently turn it over to make sure it's not obstructed or fouled up. I'm not familiar with large engines however.
What is going on with all of the train wreck
The site is gradually being cleaned up and restored. There is very little train "stuff" left and it is mostly ground cleanup and restoration that is left to do.
Hey all that gear to lift them back on the track beats the heck out of the old style 'big hooks' a job well done
Why the flat cars in the consist?
Is this the train wreck where the Transport Truck and trailer was stopped on the track when the train hit it?
Yes it is
They put 1068 back on its wheels and away it goes.
Them John Deere cranes are made by Maggio's towing Rockford, IL
maggios.com/maggio-train-recovery.html
Awesome footage, I watched this the other side from Train Crazy. This was exciting to watch! You both have a new subscriber
Well done Paul!! Thanks for sharing...I was on the other side doing the same video!!
I've been watching for weeks hoping to see the action, missed the other two lifts but this one was awesome.
@@2phburns Glad to see someone got it from the other side.
Good teamwork guys…one on each side of the tracks
...never seen these heavily modified John Deere excavators doing this king of lifting before.... interesting 'new' concept.
not new, at all. They're called big johns and you can buy them from several crane manufactures now. They have their pros and cons to using them.
Them 2 Maggio's towing in Rockford, IL been making them for several years
These are referred to as 'track cranes'. You can modify an excavator but it's not the same as a 'purpose-built' machine. CAT offers large track crawler cranes.
will the derailed units go to the shop or do they just go back into service?
lmfao, back into service? Did you see how wrecked this engine is? Most likely it'll go sit in the HBO pool at some place like Juniata shops until it can be fixed, or some manager decides to just steal parts off it and scrap it
@@TheNemosdaddy If it was the CN it be put back in service same day since they never fix anything anyways
@@jenna9390 Really. And apparently they've found some secret way to magically reconnect brake lines and repair drive gearing on the spot. Wow. I'm Canadian, and I've never seen any of those magic locos up here.
Thank you for documenting the re-railing of this locomotive.
Nice video 👍👍
Who is the derailment company?
Katter Railroad Services
Scabs that took good paying railroad jobs that make 1/2 the money and work twice the hours.
"the DErailment" company would be the construction company the MORON, who caused this derailment, worked for: Wright Brothers Construction Co. of Charleston, Tennessee
@David Thomas you can't even make sense. Also, he was a truckdriver not a construction moron...but it shows who the moron is!!!
@@tomcander3669 I agree.
We are going today to see the aftermath. We went on Jan 7 but the lead locomotive was still on the ground
Ya
Engine weight is 428,000lbs SD70ACe www.nsdash9.com/rosters/1000.html locomotive.fandom.com/wiki/EMD_SD70ACe Not shown in the video is the engine on the end of the flat cars, off screen to the right, that is pushing the recovered engine over to the other engine that was recovered earlier in the day. I'm assuming they are using the flat-cars as brake tenders for the engines since there is no working brakes on the recovered engines. The workers were stringing air lines across the two engines bridging to the flat cars.
Actually less as the traction motors are not on it
Except that it is an SD70ACe
@@jimbelcher6877 thanks, description corrected.
