OR towel. Brilliant!
Great video. Is that a 42 or 34" wild rag? Want make sure im getting right size. Thank you.
I buy the 34” rags typically!
I earned my hat on a horse and my boots on a bull. Other than prayer, national anthem or blatant disrespect I’d think it was funny if a “Cowboy” suggested how or where I can wear either.
Nice . Now show us to tie that knot please.

@@StartupCowboy Thank you for replying and the tutorial. Best one that I have seen.
Before idiots started wearing backwards baseball caps, while holding up their underpants in order to walk the rules were simple. Men removed hats when indoors. They carried the hat or placed it on yes, a hat rack. Back then even thieves did not steal hats. For the military the rule was slightly different, hats off indoors unless you were under arms, either bearing an actual weapon or wearing something like a pistol belt with or without a holster. If you went to a Catholic church women covered and men uncovered as sign of respect. Even protestants understood that rule. Then there was ranch country, where a man would come in take off his army boots, let out a sigh of relief and pull on his cowboy boots, but not put on his Stetson or straw. If you went to a good restaurant in Texas the men left their hats at the door. But at the bar after a day on the range or ranch office, you might see them at the bar wearing their stained and frayed hats. It was much the same in Idaho, Utah and Arizona. What about a dance? You put on clean duds, your good boots and hat and then left the hat at the door or on the table. I think you see the drift, No hats indoors, cowboy hats are not business wear, cowboy hats are not formal wear. If you follow those rules life is simple. What you wear at home is your business the same as putting your feet up on the furniture, but not OK in public just because you like it. No complicated rules once you get that.
Take off the hat! ~ Ron Tater Salad White
This was such a good tutorial
@sampsonmoss I'm about to take your job
You guys are awesome!
If I bought it, it's mine.i decide when,where and how I wear it.good video
Oh my gawd! The square knot ive been tying for past 50+ yrs is Wrong😢 guess ive always been out of style, But who cares
Hats off indoors…. Hard stop.
There is 1 rule specifically for the ladies. If you take a man's hat off of his head and put it on without permission means 1 think only and it's not just a flirt, or invitation, it's a demand bordering on a challenge.
Sorry Dude but your hat seems like its on backwards. Not insulting just making an observation. I myself dont wear cowboy hats. I mostly wear a fadora style or Panama Jack style hat so I get my share of negativity as well. However,,, I find your commentary very informative and I follow many of the guidelines you pinted out. Great information.
Where did you get the sweater from?
When speaking of and to the dead or very young when kneeled, to be eye to eye.
dont forget your cowboy hat for you and the entire family when at walmart or applebees- instead of dressing your 5 year old in gold chains the new goto is a cowboy hat for the little kid- yellowstone has really had a major influence on the NPCs
It’s pretty easy, put them on and wear them.
How much
How to order
The best heelers on the planet don't do it that wat
I make my own belts and buckles.. LEATHER THICKNESS IS VERY IMPORTANT! Do some research on that before you make or buy a new belt.
Some people say take a hat off indoors. I disagree with that in general. Spaces matters. If you're in church or in someone's home, yes, remove your hat. But banks, indoor stadiums, hospitals, stores, etc, you are in a public space. It's perfectly acceptable to leave your hat on. However, if once inside the bank or hospital, I enter a more intimate setting, ( bank manager' office, loan officer, a patient's room or Doctor's office) that's when it's appropriate remove your hat. Eating. If I'm home or visiting friends or family, the hat comes off. But, if I'm at a restaurant, bar, tavern, pub, that does not have a coat rack/hat hook/coat room, I say it's perfectly ok to leave your hat on. Otherwise, 1) your hat is taking up paying customer space, 2) you risk disfigurement, damage or staining your hat.
I take my western cowboy hat off like any other hat to pay respect to the national anthem and the flag no matter what event is happening.
My custom made beaver hat is a Vaquero style flat brim with a pencil roll and a telescopic crown. My next purchase will be an imported straw Portuguese Sombrero.
Do not wear a hat indoors
Black felt with Teton creases
This is one of the better videos that just simply show you the basic how-to, at home. Their videos are either like "let me show you how to... without tools!" Then they proceed to pull out a specialty hose steamer-wand. So thank you for using what us simps use at home. Bought a simple buffalo felt tear-drop stetson hat that I'm going to bend the side brims in more, and bring the front and back of brim down more, use my propane blow torch to rough-up/distress, and add some strip of groovy old fabric around the base of the crown. Like a nicer version of an Al Jourgensen hat lol (Ministry) and give it to my husband for Christmas. I'm excited.
Ty ♥️
If I’m in your home, I’m going to put my hat wherever I feel like I want to put it. What is some cidiot going to know about where to put a hat. And I’d hat to be so sissy and have such a sissy hat that I’m going to be all that careful. My oldest Stetson had been there and back with me for forty years. You city folks wouldn’t wear it but I do. I haven’t gotten my $85 worth of value out of it.
Here's an EXCEPTION to one of your points. If you are a VETERAN, you can leave your hat on during the National Anthem IF and only IF you stand at attention and render a PROPER salute. (C'mon, guys, you still remember how.) This exception was passed into law as part of the Senate appropriations bill of 2006. I wish more of us would do this. We served under that flag, we earned the right to salute it.
You take it off indoors. My grand dad would've knocked off my head if i wore it in the hat. If i wore it to the dining table, then i would've been in deep doo doo
You never wear your hat inside the house or at the dining table!!
I was also taught you don't lay your hat on it's brim because the only time they do that is when it's laid on your chest at your funeral.
I’m from Texas and I see more idiot “drug store cowboys” and other men wear their hat at the dinner table in restaurants, that is soooooo wrong. Take it off when eating for Christ sake!
I remember the first time I hung up a bridle and my traveling partner ripped me a new one and then showed me the correct way. I will never forget that day 😂
I wear felt year round
Like my Great Grandfather, I have one hat that I wear year around. I flatten out the brim so it protects my face and shoulders from sun and rain, it gets dropped in the manure, it gets dusty, dirty, and wet. Real cattlemen don't have all these fake rules and etiquette
It's kinda bs. Etiquette is dependant on the time and the class person. The gentlemen of the south had a different Etiquette as the cowboys of the west and there's definitely a different etiquette today from back then
From Dan, My uncle told me that hats must be placed on the crown so the luck wouldn't run out.
Being bald i have an affinity to hats. You can buy upside down racks and fake head molds etc but they are generally 30 to 40 bucks. I take the big Plastic water jugs with a handle and cut off the top third or so. Put the hat on it top up and its almost its like on your head. If its seasonal cover with something and that will block dust. Cheap and works great.
Best video I have found yet! Thank you!
It looks like your hat is on backwards. Strange.
Whats the shape of your hat bud i like it
never rest a hat on a table where people are seated, bad luck.
The moment I started the video I could tell it’s done by an amateur, just by the way the hats are displayed on the table.
Is it just me or is he wearing his hat backwards?
What style hat are you wearing….i like this style
I don't know that you stressed the point about not touching another man's hat. Quite well enough. I came up behind my dad one time and flipped his hat off, and he turned around and punched me. That is one thing you never ever do knock someone's hat off. Depending on how well you know the person it and how old school they are? You might get a pass the first time you do it. But if you're in a bar and you knock someone's hat off, you're going to get in a fight. You don't even touch somebody's hat if it's hanging on a hat. Rack, or if they have set it down somewhere, unless you have permission, say if you wanted to get a closer look at the hat. I was temporarily staying zeeat my mother's house, recuperating from a broken ankle. I did all the work on her house.Such as mowing or lawn poured her a new driveway, clean her gutters, which were so full of dirt, they were growing flowers. And whatnot, anyway, I figured she owed me that much since I took care of her house. Long story short, my sister comes charging in there, throwing all my s*** on the lawn. She was especially rough with my cowboy hats, and I told her to be respectful and she essentially toldi me to go f*** myself. We haven't spoken since then and that was a while ago.
I have a shelf in a cedar lined closet, with a wool blanket covering the shelf. I keep my hats there sitting on the crown. I normally take my hat off when going indoors anywhere, unless I will be needing both hands and there is nowhere to set my hat on it's crown. For instance, doing business in a bank, or most stores, clothing, grocery, etc.
