I haven't flown qantas in two or three years. Moved back from NYC via Air Canada, my first love. Do Qantas charge for alcoholic drinks or any other snacks outside of meal service?

Fiji is EXCELLENT! I flew them in Business Class from LAX-NAN-LAX back in 2017 on the A330 BEFORE they started flying the A350. The A350 looks more like a FULL ON Business Class Cabin compared to the A330 which felt a bit more like a Premium Economy/Business Class hybrid, but which was ok. 👍🌺

This aircraft will be retired next year. Thai have placed orders on 787-9s and will start deliveries in 2025

I think I'm one of many Australians who will never book Qantas again. I'm not surprised it wasn't a great experience.

Filthy tray table is rather ordinary. Do they not pay for proper cleaning by the local ground handling people in Japan?

Great video, I did the same flights in July. The airport experience was different, was able to check in normally. Although perhaps they do this if you are there early and may as well pre-empt the checkin process to speed it up a little. I did notice the aircraft could use a much better cleaning job. There is only so much cleaners can do in a change over. But I do expect a much better monthly clean. I was satisfied with in flight entertainment. This day flight is great if travelling with kids. Would have loved to be able to find more things to buy with leftover Suica card credit in the airport. Its a ver simple business opportunity. Just small nik naks

One year ago did MEL-SIN-HND return. QF MEL-SIN, JL SIN-HND. The difference was night and day!

The Qantas maintenance budget stripped clean so that senior management are paid 7 and 8 figures bonuses. The whole of airline has been gutted of any investment, any employee pay rises. The airline has long been run so the senior executives can benefit to the detriment of staff and customers. No money goes to customer services, any employees. The senior executives are paid obscene amounts of salary and bonus.

At least they have a day option to sydney which is rare in the scheme of things… I feel some USA bound flights (sans Hawaii) should have some night Sydney (or Australia arrivals) rather than all 6am horseshit

QF service is sub-standard in all respects. I’d choose JL or AN on flights to Japan over QF any day.

Qantas service is far inferior compared to emirates, SIA etc.

oh boy i cant wait untill the a330s are replaced, they where good years ago but for long haul flights like brisbane to LA or to tokyo, they are just so old now. It was also interesting to see those mealtrays that they used, have they gotten rid of the small white ones. if they have and everything is on that larger black tray that is a bit of a step up

I’ve been flying Qantas first transpacific since the ‘70s. It’s astonishing how far we’ve come, from wide and soft seats with little recline to a comfortable bed. Last year, flying LAX-SYD, I actually slept - not dozed - for 9 hours, and followed that 10 days later with 10 hours flying SIN-LHR. One thing that hasn’t changed is the friendliness of the crew. While I can no longer ride in the jump seat for landings and takeoffs (yes, I used to do that in the ‘80s), they’re still the best in the air for long-haul flights.

I miss velocity 777s so much 😭😭

Awesome trip report. The twin seats are definitely extra comfortable. However, if you're hard to sleep, the noise from the toilet might affect you. A solid economy class service from Thai Airways.

its honestly supprising how inconsistent QF can be with food, i flew MEL - AKl - JFk and back and the food was great!! its really dissapointing since the hard product on the Qf 787s and some of the refurbed a330s are great

Whenever I fly to another country I always try taking their airline because US carriers can’t compare in terms of hospitality, class, refined customer service and superior inflight meals. Plus I like getting into the mindset of where I’m heading to immediately.

I am ticketed F from Lhr to Mìa and awaiting downgrade information.

You’re lucky your flight didn’t get rescheduled or cancelled mate, I’m a Malaysian but sorry to say I always avoid this airline at all cost. I rather do transits than take direct flight via AA if they’re the only option, that’s how bad it is IMO

This is a very positive review, but the dated amenities are hardly worth the added cost. The food options and beverages (served in bottles) are dismal! Good to know to avoid this service!

LIe flat is a complete LIE. I flew Rio to Bogota, not a lie flat and barely reclining. I filed a false advertising claim against them with my bank to get my money back. Avoid this airline
