My friends from work and my wife and I were hanging out. We were talking about this show, and this episode had just aired on prime time. We agreed how sad this episode was. He was like our friend that died.
My father and younger brother always asked me if I had seen this when it came out on video cassette. They told me about a few parts, particularly the bar fight, and the first time the kid stayed at the house
What happened to the guy and his son landing a helicopter while the sheriff and Walt were talking? So this isn’t the full ending either. I always loved this movie what ever happened.
Thank you. I never knew about this. My mom loved this movie. In the last 6 months of her life, we would watch this at least 3 times a day. Thank you for bringing back the best memories I had before she passed. In my book, this is the all-time best movie ever. To this day, whenever it comes on, I stop everything and watch it.
Walter did believe that the stories his uncles had told him were true, without any doubts in his young and older minds. But seeing the old sheikh at their funeral only solidified that Hub and Garth McCann not just lived, but "they really lived".
Finally saw this film and I have to say the meaning and educational sense behind it was inspiring and I feel blessed to have watched it for all involved with this films I applaud you I really do
I loved this movie. I'm glad they left this footage out. It was a little too cheesy. The way the movie ended upon release left something to the imagination and that's what the true meaning was all about.
The original ending was a lot more understated and subtle. This one's okay; but it's backloaded, leaves little to the imagination, and eliminates the barrier that exists between the flashbacks and central narrative.
What I take from the Shieks gesture of "they managed to get away from me again" is that he regretted never seeing them at least one more time before they passed away. He respected both Hub and Garth (mainly Hub for sparing his life). Enough to send in the French Foreign Legion and the two riderless horses to say "these men, who both defeated me in my youth, deserve something more for sparing my life. I never got to thank them in life, but I want to tell their kin *Looking at Walter* that I will forever be in gratitude for they did." That's what I get out from observing the scene.
Okay, i liked that ending better. But, who decided to start cutting onions? Seeing the backwards boots in the stirrups, the legionnaires didn't have to say a word
Never saw this ending.
I cry every time I watch this movie. I'm 70 years old now and I watch it at least once a year.

after seeing this, i am glad they went with the revised ending. much better.

Just saw it on 9/15/24,I'm 52,saw the movie when it first came out. But this ending has me in tears😢 thank you for sharing it.
Why am I just finding out now they deleted this great ending?
Great movie! Those ole guys took the kid under their arms and helped see life for real!!❤❤❤❤
Well, I cried.
Walter did believe that the stories his uncles had told him were true, without any doubts in his young and older minds. But seeing the old sheikh at their funeral only solidified that Hub and Garth McCann not just lived, but "they really lived".
Never saw this...great ending to one of my favorite movies of all time!!

This has always been one of my all time favorite movies. They don't make them like this anymore and I wonder if they ever will.
After seeing how Scott Bloomquist died in his plane crash I immediately thought of this film ending
Awwwn both endings were okay. The gist of it was the stories were true. Great movie, Thank you.
I still cry.
Just a wonderful movie! Glad the you showed us the original ending!!!❤
The boots are backwards on the horses, that is so cool
Hmm, I think I prefer the ending they went with!… this was a bit soppy and too much like Big Fish.
If they had this original ending in the theaters,it would have been a blockbuster
The French Foreign Legion honors all who received the Croix de Guerre, proving both men had received the highest honor that can be given.
Ranks up there with Big Fish.
I’ve liked this movie for years & I never knew about this ending. Probably a good thing that they changed it because this is a bit much
I had to rewatch after watching this 😂
Bloomquist the dirt track legend just went out like this. Piper cub stuck in his barn. He never had a license either.
Expensive scenes to cut out
Much much better ending.
Thank God they reshot the ending. This one not only drags, but would get the movie cancelled in today's climate. Can see why it was changed.
How could anyone edit such glorious ending, that movie deserved this ending as fitting testament.

Fun fact: they had to give Hub a mustache because Christian Kane got his lip split open during filming and they had to cover the stitches.
I never knew!! The screen ending we good but this should have been in too.❤

Coolest movie
I have never seen that ending.
Loved this movie and those actors involved! Very heartwarming!❤ Thank you!❤
Ok, I love both endings😍😍😍😍
Loved this movie😍
Much better ending!!!!! So much better!!!
This movie is so, so great. This ending is nice, but too much. The shorter theatrical version fit better
Love this movie!
who is the actress who played the mother of Walter's children?
This should have been left in.
Wow I would have loved that ending much better, too bad it was changed
I like this ending the most
Okay, i liked that ending better. But, who decided to start cutting onions? Seeing the backwards boots in the stirrups, the legionnaires didn't have to say a word
I like this ending better.
