LSJ.....Thanks!! It's been over 20 years since I was there and we caught more Specks than I've caught in the Refuge in quite a while and the ramp next to Hooters was an easy launch!!

When I moved here from Va. & NC Anclote Island was my favorite area to go to from Brandon.....When I moved up here I have never gone back since then until now.....Everything inshore and offshore for the last 30 years has been up here or the East Coast from Titusville to Marathon in the Keys!!!!

I do miss the offshore action, don’t miss the fuel bill!

@@TimeOnTheWaterFishing Anymore the CC doesn't see the salt very often.....Overharvesting and species destruction have taken a huge toll on the fishing resource both inshore and offshore!!😎🎣🤿

At last count there have been 5 over the years.....Including a sunken 40 ft' sailboat which was blind luck.....The boat we came across off the Cotee River was worth at least $30,000....My question.....How do you not properly secure your mooring lines because there was no ignition key and the combo GPS was off the boat.

DMP.....Thanks!! Someone's got to be sick with $30,000 of boat floating south from where ever.....It was berthed up behind Hooters on the Cotee when we got back!! I think from now on I need to have more women on board.....They certainly aren't looking at me.....LOL!! Today I was in the swamp.....I thought I'd have to swim back there and with 4 cams out there I got deer.... 2 Bucks and 4 Does.....Nothing else....All the critters have gone to the high ground!!

@@dronemafiaproduction. To say the least I was disappointed with the results.....I never saw a hog track and a section of swamp to the old Bayport Road is totally underwater.....There's nothing dry anywhere the short legged critters normally walk through!!😎🦌

Thanks J!! I use t live in the interior east of Tampa and fish Anclote all the time....When I moved out here to the coast all my attention went towards learning the Refuge and about 300 square miles of the offshore fishing......More Specks than I've seen in a long time!!

Thomas Murphy.....Thanks!! The Anclote Keys always seems to hold Speckled Trout even though the Islands are several miles offshore of Tarpon Springs!!

The Trout aren't thick but there are a few legal Specks on the East side of the Island.....We were in there on the incoming and they liked softies and hard baits......Didn't see any scallops in there.....We fished about 1/2 the Island from north to south....I saw your video on the east side near the Cotee the other day!!

Thanks Dug!! Well not free but this one turned out to be the most expensive one I've found here on the Gulf and Atlantic......This vessel was drifting from the north from up where I live in Bayport.....No telling how long it had been missing!!

Thanks!! You don't pass up a day on the water when the owner and crew are all women.....LOL.....We definitely got into some nice schools of Speckled Trout!! This was my 3rd lost and found boat and this wasn't a cheap boat to floating around!! The ignition key and the bottom machine were not on the boat.....The shrimper had docked the vessel in a slip on the Cotee River next to his!!

@@21Swayzee You could actually add a Refugee boat from Cuba 2 years ago in the Florida Keys(Marathon) and a sunken sail boat when diving off the Gulf Coast down in Tarpon Springs!!😎

Best Speck trip in a while.....Actually It's my 3rd tome finding an abandoned boat.....Once in the Keys a few years ago and now twice up here.....This was about a $30,000 boat so someone's wondering where it is.....The shrimper had the vessel docked next to them in New Port Richey on the Cotee River when we returned!!

Thanks Martin!!😎This abandoned boat is the 3rd. time in 20 years I've come across a boat with no one on it and this was about 8:30 in the morning.....The skiff was moored next to the shrimper at the Hooters in NPR on the Cotee River when we returned. Big bird was a Coast Guard flight that might have been looking for the capsized vessel off the coast here!!

@WesLovelace years back we used to find empty boats off marathon pretty often. Found a Hewes redfisher that came off the bow of a big sport fisher. Don't know how it came off without anyone noticing.

Thanks Rande!! Debby was pretty tame.....I never had to move all the equipment to higher ground like last year with Hurricane Idalia.....These storms will wear you out mentally.....If I were to have the property destroyed I'd sell and move off the coast to north Florida!!

Thanks Brandon!! I just got off 4 straight days flippin' the Dine and top water Skitterwalk inside and out......I did nothing in that Jet Black Back Country but had a great time out front even a release of an estimated 35/40 lb. Bull Shark on light tackle with the Dine!!

DMP......Thanks!! I've been taking advantage of the dark big tides in the AM and the cloudy weather for 4 straight days......I've had some great action including a C/R Bull Shark of 35/40 lbs. on light tackle in Wall Bay!!

Thanks J!! Today I had a first....An estimated 40 lb. 5 ft. Bull Shark grabbed my Mirrodine and proceeded to drag me around Wall Bay.....After about 35 minutes I managed to get this critter to the boat and remove the treble hook.....That's a new record for me!!😎🎣

Thanks Victor!! Talking tackle.....Today I was in Wall Bay north of the house and an estimated 40lb Bull Shark managed to hook up with my 808 BG No.17 Mirrodine and the 10 lb. Ande Tournament Green Mono on a 6 ft. Kunnan Rod and 30 lb. Ande Tournament Green Mono Leader....It took me 25 minutes in 3 feet of water to get this critter to the boat and pull the lure from the side of the mouth.....First C/R of a fish this size on light tackle!!

Thanks Rob!! Back at it this morning although all the stuff in front of the house might chase me off the water!! We've gotten so much rain the back country water is ink black and most of the catches have been along the outside edges.....I noticed that all 3 manateez had prop scars.....They are beautiful swimmers and I wish people would slow down!!

With them short strike fish on top water would it matter to change to Extra Wide Gap (EWG) Hook and a soft plastic so it would sink just below the surface and not sink any lower

By December the temps down here usually have changed considerably both air and water!! By then the fish have started to migrate into the warmer creeks and rivers that are all Spring fed and maintain a temp of about 72.2 degrees. Usually the Gulf maintains a temp of around 60 to 65 degrees and the fish can be caught both with live and artificial baits. To effectively fish these back country areas you really need a guide to navigate these very treacherous areas because of the lime rock bottom and because all the big tides that we have during the summer months disappear. Now I generally use soft plastics and small suspending twitch baits in places well off the Gulf because the fish migrate to the warmer waters. You can rent Kayaks and boats on most of the Rivers around here then it becomes a guessing game as to where to fish. Near me here in Bayport there is the Weeki Wachee River, Jenkins Creek and the Mud River......All have freshwater origins and have limited land access. Farther north of me is the Chassahowitzka River ....Then the Homosassa River followed by Crystal River. Now there are plenty of freshwater lakes but I've got very limited knowledge of these bodies of water since I haven't fished them in years!! Hope this give you some starting points in this area!!😎🎣

It takes me almost 2 hours just to get thru the 4 cameras in the swamp and just about every time I manage to get myself wounded.....My legs have scars all over them because of all the sticks and debris that I miss in my travels!!😎

​@WesLovelace yeah, I've been chased up a tree by hogs before, those tusks are scary. Swamp donkey is what we call them really big swamp bucks. They got a different look than regular deer here in Florida.

Thanks John!! Usually about once a month but here lately changing the cards has turned into about 2 months.....I've got about 150 sq. miles of swamp to choose from.....This place is amazing to walk around in as long as you don't mind the Skeeters trying to bleed you dry......LOL....Sea Ya!!
