    Love the design.in middle of making one myself. Using a combination of yours and rings workshop. Both great designs.just trying to understand how you did sandwich layer so it slides back and forth to lock. Im guessing 3/4 gap on either side of pipe. If so does sandwich layer need to be fractionally larger than pipe so it doesnt bind. Thank you and great build

    Love the build idea of this workbench, my question is in the video, it looked as though to flip the tools up you pulled out first, then flipped and then pushed back to lock in place, what did you have use across the back as a locking system and is that why you said you left so many inches apart on the spacer blocks on each side of the pivot rod. Thanks in advance if you have time to answer.

    • @matthewdittman
      @matthewdittman 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! I placed a strip of oak (about 3/4" x 3/4") up against the back wall of each cubby. For the simple tools, that is. Chamfering the exposed edges to help line up the platform. For the actual platform, I used 2 pieces of plywood sandwiching the same thickness material as the oak: two pieces surrounding the 3/4" rod and 2 pieces near the front and back edges of the platform with enough room to allow the platform to slide into the cleat on the back wall of the cubby. Let me know if that answers your question or if I need to clarify anything.

    I really like what you have done with this workbench! I have a very very small shop (7.5 ft X 16 ft) I currently have 3 smaller workbenches with 2 of them having flip tops on each side and one that holds my table saw and small router table. I am going to rebuild my tables using this type of design. Thank you for the ideas!

    You don’t need to take the cover off for the new ones to install it at least not the 12,000 btu model The instructions that come with this thing are nonsense. This hits the lcd if you put it in the spot they say. For the new ones just like your video there’s a slot on the flap you open next to the LCD that it goes in. Wasted 30 minutes of my life trying to get this thing to close. Garbage.

    I held off for over a year waiting to install my Wi-Fi because I watch this video and thought I had to take the whole thing apart. My Diamanté Pro only requires taking the cover off the electrical connections, sliding out the circuit board and plug in the Wi-Fi board and then, wrapping the wires and screwing the Wi-Fi module onto the cover. Simpler! My WYS models simply plug into a USB port. Those are sweet.

  • @bseely772

    Well, Maybe I’m crazy but I just purchased a mini split just like this MODELWT012ALFI19HLE and it appears you can plug the Wi-Fi modulator in without taking the cover off. Shouldn’t take any more than a pair of needle nose pliers to plug in.

      I wonder if you might be able to (in most cases) drill a hole into the PVC pipe. This way you can have the cable go into the box, into the pipe, into the gap between tool sections and then have your outlets nestled in the middle of the bench. Would love to see plans done up for this.

    • @matthewdittman
      @matthewdittman ปีที่แล้ว

      The steel pipe I used was 3/4" and I didn't want to deal with putting a new plug on the end of the tools. I did think about that, but opted out due to ease of removing the tools. I like the idea though!

    This is a pretty solid little workbench. While once you figure out how it comes together, it is physically Easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh by yourself. But the diagrams explaining the steps are really pretty bad. I could not get the handle pins in all the way despite multiple attempts, so I just used a screw I had on hand for the 2nd handle. I could not get the first pin in further or pull it back out. You are supposed to hammer it in, but I had no leverage and the handle is plastic and I did not want to risk breaking it. I will get a lot of use out of the bench because of the convenient size and height. It does fold up nicely for storage. They even explain how to fold it so you don't get pinched...that is important!

    I am seeing multiple person using this door style to lock tools in place .. but if the same compartment is use for storage of tool accessories. What happen when u need the accessories and the tool is already flip up?? That's counter productive 👎👎... lock device must be independent of compartment door

    • @matthewdittman
      @matthewdittman ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good idea. On this workbench, the cleat on the door is just added stability. You'll notice that after the tool is flipped up, I don't have to hold it in place while closing the door. Unless someone else is trying to get under the tool while you're using it (which wouldn't happen, because you'd be standing in front of it), I think this design works great.

    Hi, You have had way tooooooo much time on your hands, Bloody great looking "BENCH". Well done, thanks for sharing with us all. I don't have a saw bench, but some of the tutorials from others, have 'Raise & Lower', using JUST a normal electric saw. You have a motor driven saw, do you miss not having a way of setting up and down, 45deg's etc. ?? Just asking, thanks Teddy

    • @matthewdittman
      @matthewdittman ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you referring to the miter saw and its ability to make miter cuts and bevel cuts? If so, there's still the ability to, though with a larger saw it will need to be collapsed (turn the angle to as small as possible) to have enough room to flip it.
