Can it see planets? Jupiter?

Nice tutorial. I just got mine (130SLT) but having trouble aligning it. I tried several times using different way of aligning but each time after the process is completed and I search for a planet, it’s coming a bit off from where it should be pointing. Not sure if it’s me doing something wrong or my telescope is faulty.

I would upgrade the mount. Put on a red-dot finder and a 90-degree diagonal. It would then make a good grab and go. As it comes out the box it would be frustrating to use.

Hiiiii do you think a Barlow lens is necessary for this telescope? I'm a beginner and bought this as a new telescope. I wanted the 70DX and it brought an extra Barlow lens, now I feel like this 80 one is not as good since it doesn't bring it. Is it necessary to have one? Thank you!

Ive been reading the comments, and i don't think any of these people actually watched the video, because you already mention what they are criticising at 1:47 and 4:57. As for your mention of aperture and people telling you you're wrong, astrobiscuit also says a 16" is the biggest commercial dobsonian you can buy commercially. I understand why you titled the video the way you did (as two telescopes rather than mounts), and its genius, aimed at beginners, who searched for it! When people say "just google it", they don't realise that googling everything is the easiest way to get disinformation or misinformation, because wiki is unreliable, you get conflicting opinions on forums, and contradicting AI overviews that gather information from everywhere. I think most of the commenters suffer from the dunning-kruger effect!

Muchas gracias. The little stop for the end of the counterweight bar was in the with the included tools.The printed instructions make no mention of it. I've been a little hesitant to use my new telescope because I know that in the black dark, I'm going to grab the wrong knob and a big weight will fall with nothing to slow it down. My unbroken toes extend their deep gratitude.

Thanks for the review. Pretty certain you have the mount upside down. The thumb screws should be on the bottom. 😊

I currently have a Celestron 60AZ Powerseeker and it goes just as far as Saturn and some of it's moon, not all, is it worthy buying this telescope for what i mentioned up above and does it come with a phone holder to take pictures of celestial objects ?

I wonder how much rock is there in the center of the Sun, surely there should be quite a lot of it accumulated from the asteroids and planetoids sucked into the Sun's gravity well. Same goes for the gas giants

A couple of questions. Say, for example i want to see mars, what all i need to adjust on this telescope Does polar align simply mean to adjust latitude? Do we need to adjust the altitude, or would RA and Declination would be enough?

i have had mine for about 10 years. i love it. im about to put in on a tracking mount with a guide scope. i tested it on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer 2i tracker and it did just fine, love my old scope!!

When I see the moon it’s clear, but anything like Venus or Jupiter, the closest thing that I can see is just a dot of light. Zooming in or out to much will result in the three lines inside of the scope. Idk if they’re some misalignment or the scopes that come with it. Can someone educate me?

I have the Apertura AD10, but the 8 comes with everything the same. It has a superior altitude mount, the azimuth operates smoothly. It comes with the dual speed Crayford, a cooling fan, a very good two inch 30 mm eyepiece, as well as a so so 9 mm. I did buy the upgrades of the better adjusting mirror springs, flocking material, collimation knobs to replace the screws.

How do you look through the "finderscope" when aligning, if the telescope is angled upward? (i.e. mine is at 41 latitude) and the finderscope lens is like facing down the ground and so close to the body of the actual scope, its hard to get my face/eye in (also, I was trying to use a Stop sign or street sign to do the alignment, i.e. per the instruction manual but I have try a chimney now per your advice, thanks for this). Also, was is the other similar "dumbell" silver knob right next to the "altitude" knob you display at @2:14? I noticed this also screws and unscrews, but wasn't covered in the video. It's directly on the side with the latitude markings (i.e. that go from 0 to 90 degrees)

Always use an air blower before anything else, to get rid of any debris that could scratch the lenses, then use a microfibre cloth
