Yeah, I just got scammed at $200 on my eBay listing and there is no record. Sorry put it on their money and they never sent them return shipping label so the guy said he didn’t have to return it.

A common oversight with reselling is the amount of time that goes into cleaning and fixing every item that you sell, from cleaning game discs and consoles to brushing the knots out of doll hair.. eBay reselling isn’t just a simple flip business, there’s so much care that goes into making your items to the higher standard.

Do you ever wrap your bigger boxes in a contractor bag or some sort of plastic wrap? Any hints on where to get a material like that?

I always funnel them into filling a complaint on ebay. I once refunded on the chat function and when the item arrived I had no recourse even though I had a screen shot being advise to refund. Always have the buyer open a complaint.

A few months ago I shipped an item that was never marked as delivered but I know the buyer received it because they messaged me and left positive feedback....and the tracking still says not delivered from June. For fun I opened a missing mail search and it was declared lost even though I know it was delivered. This worries me in the future for eBay, you get a scammy buyer and you will have no idea if it's actually delivered. Happened with something I purchased from eBay as well. Tracking still says it's coming tomorrow and I received shoes in April.

I had enough issues with lost packages through USPS ground advantage that I just don’t offer it as a service anymore. I ship UPS or Priority and it’s a much more pleasant experience for myself and the buyer! I just pad my prices a little bit to cover the extra cost. Works for me.

I too have only had this happen a few times since my eBay tenure starting in 2007. Though the most recent time, eBay did not reimburse me for a refunded payment via a case due to non-delivery. It ended up being marked as delivered a couple weeks after the case was closed and they basically told me to kick rocks. This was probably 4 or so years ago though.

If eBay refunds the buyer from your funds after an INR, I believe you also get dinged for a seller defect which shows up under "Performance" in Seller Hub.

Couple months ago I had a package vanish, and I refunded about a month later I got a check in the mail from the buyer, saying it arrived and repaying me. Very rare for someone to go through all that trouble to pay again.

It’s brutal how unreliable package tracking is these days. I’ve gotten so many things where the tracking literally never updated and I could’ve easily said it never showed up. But I think most people are honest, but man, some people are milking how screwed up tracking can get to get free stuff. I had it happen selling trading cards recently. Also I’ve had so many things get stuck for a week in transit. Or go halfway across the country. Being a seller these days can be a nightmare!

I'm having lots of issues on outgoing packages lately. No delivery scans, packages that disappear for ten days with no activity, then magically get shaken loose. Incoming is even worse, with packages disappearing into the ether along the way. Two packages that stand out are one order that shipped to Germany and arrived back here NINE months later. The other one was a large package coming to me from two towns over that disappeared, only to show up three months later, covered in some sort of red liquid and wrapped in a garbage bag.

I just had a customer ask for a refund because the item showed delivered but was not delivered to him. I sent him a message asking him to wait a few days to see if the package was miss delivered or he should go to his local post office. He stated he was too busy to take time off to go to his post office. I have idea what happened, was it stolen, miss delivered or he was trying to get a Free item. SIGH

I've had packages come 3 months late. But i agree it doesn't really go missing anymore. Just reboxed into a huge box and relabeled.

I had an item not as described a few moths ago. She bare faced lied about the item. It was crazy. The thing about it was she had a 4500 feedback so I'm pretty confident she was a seller. She returned the item and EBay found in my favor but she got refunded. That really irritates me because people like that know how to play the system and Ebay allows them to do it. I blocked her. Did you block the nasty buyers?

I've never had a lost package in 20 years but have had a package misdirected halfway across the country and going out for delivery in the wrong State before USPS discovered the mistake and sent it to the correct address, added a 2 day delay but at least the buyer was finding the whole thing hilarious. The worst delay I've experienced as a buyer is 7 weeks for a package from China. The only time I've had a purchase go missing is when a company used a bulk mail carrier.

I once had a guy that was one of those package and I gave him weekly updates every time his package would move till the package arrived and he was happy 😄

years back i sold a new $850 AED heart shocker device to a scammer in texas who complained that it had a scratch. They were only trying to get it for free. I told them that they should open the AED and stick a pad on each side of their head and shock themselves to see if they can get their brain working. I was on the phone with the ebay people who took the scammers side and let them keep it for free. I was scared ebay might charge my checking account for the money and so i closed the account and didnt use ebay for years. It was around the time ebay sent the dead animal parts and a team to harass that older couple over their blog.

I've had one "lost" package in 24 years, but I am not certain if it was lost or not. The tracking data stopped after the first sorting center likely means it was stolen by a USPS employee or contractor and didn't make it to the next sorting center. I would contact USPS Postal Inspectors as this may be a problem with USPS employee and / or USPS contractor thing. A pattern of complaints form customers like you will get them to investigate, but if you never complaint they will never do anything. Locally private contractors bid for the right to pickup up packages and mail from various post office. They take these items to a large regional post office with a large loading dock for multiple trucks and from there they are sent to a sorting center about 80 miles away. So packages were scanned at the local post office as received but then there was no further tracking data that means they would have to have been stolen at the local post office by an employee, by the contractor who picked them up, at the regional post office or at the sorting center. They were not stolen further down the system. The second scan would have occurred at the sorting center. So was any of this packaging marked in any way as to increase it chances of getting stolen? Did the labels include the word "eBay". Did you use eBay branded packaging and / or tape? Can the return address you use on the label be easily traced to your eBay account by searching on Google?

I've been scammed on eBay both as a seller and a buyer. Their seller and buyer protection policies are worthless because they don't apply when forcefully disputed. I still sell and buy on eBay, however, fully conscious that I will occasionally get burned with no recourse. Participate at your own risk.

I had a similar thing happen where the buyer went around eBay to their credit card and same thing they said that it did not match the description. They shipped the items back to a mysterious address, they did not get a label from eBay. But eBay said they couldn't do anything because they went to their credit card company. I had to pay the $20 as well. Except for this person but 10 pieces of petrified wood from me and it was 10 separate sales so it was 10 transactions, 10 negatives and 10 $20 fees. eBay would not remove the negatives, but they did refund me some of the $20 fees at the end and some of the shipping that I paid. That alone was admitting that they felt that I was in the right. But they did not want to pay for it. So the seller protection is really a bunch of BS when it comes to eBay
